As a support, which items do you finish first?

I'm a support main, so you would think I would know, but I actually do not. Let's say for example, you are playing Blitzcrank, and start out with relic shield. My first back I go for the upgraded version (I forgot the name) along with boots of speed and a few pots or stealth wards. Come mid to late game, what items do you finish first? I usually finish item 3401 item 2045 item 3117 then go for some damage, like either item 3025 or item 3089 and finish with defensive items like item 3065 item 3143 or item 3056 item 3110 but they are option able to change depending on the game. What is your take on it and what would you change?

I NEVER finish item 2045 until last item, since it is incredibly gold inefficient, even compared to a normal sightstone. If I started item 3302, I finish item 3401 first after getting boots and sightstone. If I started item 3303, I never finish it unless I need extra peel or engage, in which case I finish it later on whenever necessary. If I need engage, I usually get item 3069 mid game (or item 3800 on a tanky support). Other than that, the only items I would say are worth rushing ever are item 3105>item 3190/item 3060, or item 3222.

Of course there are exceptions, for example I usually rush item 3157 on supports like Morgana after sightstone and boots while leaving my gp10 at lvl 1, or on champs like Janna I get item 3041 first after boots and sightstone so I can start stacking early.

You should wait until later to finish sightstone and use that extra 800 gold for something else.

usually sightstone -> support item -> aegis -> zeke if two or more people who can benefit from lifesteal -> frozen heart/magic resist -> finish sightstone

mikaels somewhere in there if lots of cc on other side athene's/ardent censer before/right after aegis if mana intesive

for supports like annie/zyra, i just build flat damage after sightstone and frost queen's claim

I rush SS -> Mobility boots then -> Talisman on Coin supports (also known as Janna) or Locket/Crucible on Spellthief supports (Sona/Nami for me) depending on the team's needs.

If playing a mageish support like Karma, I might go straight for FQC (added gold + CC + ap) or Morellonomicon (cdr + mana regen + AP + fuck you heals).

Then it goes with the flow of the game, what we have and what they have:

item 3504 item 3110 item 3190 item 3165 item 3050 item 3023 item 3143 item 3800 item 3102 item 3222

sometimes sell Spellthief at some point for Talisman when Talisman is needed (aka "we walk to you to engage") comps

Personally I don't upgrade SS to RSS until it's pretty much my only option left, it's not worth the 800g imo.

Sightstone and if you see that your team is retarded, build dmg, if you can afford it (AP Blitz can carry for his noob team - ult=half the enemy team hp bars...).

i normally play tanky supports. Leona , Thresh , JarvanIV ,Braum ........Alistar , Blitzcrank when i play the first four i normally start item 3301 , item 2044 , item 2003 item 3340 . I normally build aitem 3065 from there cause nowadays the majority are using AP supports like Morgana andLux . then go item by item in regards of whats relevant.

" Who is the main enemy danger. are the ad or ap,... what are they building.. do i need armor or MR more. etc"

i normally get item 2049 after we down the turret and item 2045 when we group. Finally whenever possible i build a item 3156 so that i can inflict a little bit of dmg too. in regards the other two ( Blitzcrank and Alistar they have a bit of a high mana requirement and they scale off AP so the odd time i try start a mana recovery item like item 3303 however i tend to use the same starting items as the above four more often than not. i like to be able to inflict a bit of dmg if my adc gets them low and doesnt manage to finish or even just to help the adc get ahead.. so whenever i can i go for the same starting build but i work towards a item 3116 at some stage.

For Blitz, I'd say start item 3302 , item 2010 (if you don't have biscuits you can just show yourself out. Biscuits are love, biscuits are life.) Rush item 2049 and leave it at that, get mobis. Then I'd recommend dropping shield for item 3069 and for general initiation, item 3800. After this it's what the team needs, things like item 3190 , item 3110 , item 3102 are decent options. Keep 1 slot open for item 2043 until super late game.

As always, swap to item 3341 when you have ss or you anticipate to get ss on your next back and upgrade at 9 or close to it.

Finish your tier 2 gp10 and your sightstone first, probably finish tier-2 boots or mobi boots after. Upgrade sweeper and buy a pink ward when you get a chance. After that, build according to the game: Crucible if you think it's worth saving someone from a CC, Locket if they have AOE magic damage, Righteous Glory if your team needs engage, an AP item if you're a mage support, etc.

Sightstone first always

item 2049 + item 3341 then item 1001 and item 3069 or item 3401 then finish boots+enchant along with item 3364 when i have the gold for it. ruby sightstone is last and i will even prioritize elixirs before that.

Blitzcranks will usually grab item 3190 and item 3800. I know building real items can make the game feel more fun, but you really want to maximize your utility to the team. item 3060 wouldn't be that bad if you did want a bit more damage, neither is item 3110 as like a 5th item.

100% of the time, on my first back I get

item 2049 change to item 3341 and if I can I get a item 2043 and pots if anything is left

after that I tend to back and work on boots and 99.9 times out of 100 I go item 3117 with item 3270

Depending on the game from that point, and what champ, I will upgrade my gold item after upgrading my boots so I can help others, or I might build more tanky if I'm a tank support.

So I guess I max boots first, then it really depends. I'm usually in no hurry to max my gold/support item unless I am going the item 3401 line, or unless we really need help with engage and chasing then I will finish item 3069

I don't really get a ton otherwise unless the game goes later or we are just stomping so much even I have kills and gold.

So basically the basics of, upgrade boots +enchant, upgrade trinket, then support item if it isn't the crappy item 3303 max item, which I rarely bother with because it is a gold sink. May or may not upgrade sightstone, because it is sort of a waste if you aren't on a tanky support.
