Draven Tips Wanted :)

I'm currently g4/g5, i main jungle and play a lot of Rengar, Lee Sin, and Olaf. I've practiced a lot on Lee Sin when i first started playing him with ward hoping and "inSec" plays and i'm efficient at it now however I can't seem to get comfortable on Draven. I get the whole, "your next right click after you toss the axe is where the spot will go" but for some reason I cant get 'fluid' at it. In lane CS'ing I do alright, and in small trades in lane im "okay" but still rather bad at it, and once skirmishes or team fights break out I usually do pretty terrible, unless i get a lucky string.

I was just wondering if they was some technique that experienced Draven players use or things they did to improve their mechanics. Thanks in advance for any advice. :)

I'm not real experienced with him but if you can try to get the axes to fall horizontally you will find that your axes will fall in safer/beneficial spots. If you move up try to get them to fall diagnally that way you don't find yourself out of position and in front of your front line.

Thanks for the advice. I'm just wondering if theirs like a mechanical way of making it easier, like with most ADC's i pretty much just right click, but with draven i find myself using A left click, idk if this is a good thing or bad.

You can influence it by your movement direction choices but there is still a factor where luck dictates the exact location of the catch points. So while you want it to land on your right the distance it travels is dictated by sheer luck.

I still use the default right click move button. So I can't answer that part of your question. If it feels more comfortable then stick with it. That's why I play on a touchpad even though people across the board say that a mouse is better. I just got accustomed to playing it this way.

I'm extremely bad at moving my axe location when im auto'ing some1 right in my face, sometimes when im trying to kite, the axe will go 100% in the direction im NOT trying to go ><.

In those instances its better to lose some of your damage output than your lifebar. Draven is one of the hardest ADCs to play and while he has some of the highest DPS ratios in the game Riot had to input some sort of trade off inside of his kit. That's the main trade off is his lose/lose situation he will find himself in. Drop an axe and lose out on his damage output or get caught out of position and bursted by the enemy team. Picking Draven is always a risk. Having a kill lane support such as Leona or Thresh is nice but be aware of what your other teammates are and if they have are capable of peeling for you when things run south. Draven brings the damages but what he doesn't bring is reliable peel and if your team can protect you like the hyper carry that you are nothing can really stop you.

Yeah forsure i understand that, what im saying is, when sm1 gets in my face i cant always just run away. Infact often times wen i'm autoing as i try to run the amount of lifesteal draven gets is insane wen he can catch axes in those tight situations.. I'm just rather poor at it.

The A click thing is for poking you dont need to do that all the time but it helps, when u right click or attack click the minion or champion ur axe will head where you click instantly when draven throws the axe to the target, try going to a bot game and do A click the minion then right click to move, and keep it up so that way you move towards the axe and the attacks are going on

When farming early game, make sure to walk backwards (away from the enemies) right after each auto. This causes the axes to land farther away and makes it harder for them to poke you while you're trying to catch them. Also try to make sure the minions are between them and where your axes will land. Its all about catching the axes without getting poked. Also, if you trade 1 auto for 1 auto, you will almost always win, so keep that in mind.
