@Riot you have a tab for Summoner Spells but we can't have ITEM sets?

Dreadlocks··138 votes·2,433 views

Am I the only one that thinks this is dumb af? Every time i find a champion i like to play frequently i like to have an item set to match my play style and not the crappy one riot gives us.

Edit: People are saying the Summoner Spell page is useful for new players because they can view them all in client and not have to google for them, well, if thats the case; riot should have another tab for items. Right now there is no way for us to view league's items in client. You have to start a game to view them, which you could also do for summoner spells. I don't see how a Summoner Spells tab wins in priority here.

omg ikr telling me to build some item 3165 on Veigar but im going support

nvm ima just buy it and report this toxic adc telling me to buy some "sightstone", like what even is that?

Zyra MID main here

:')

Handy Sandy 1 votes

Zyra mid is actually so strong, more people should use her mid. If she's doing a bunch of damage as a support to be an actual threat, imagine how strong she's going to be with 500+ AP

An Undead brat2 votes

Shhhh! Don't tell them!

Y tf would you pick veigod sup in the first place???

Blackstone011 votes

Because you can Q farm a bit with targon's, do good burst, your E is really strong, and lots of kills occur in bot lane.

Marshbouy21 votes

the summoner spells tab is pretty helpful for new players, i know it was massive help to my pre level 15 noobiness. EDIT: i still think the game should have item sets. leave me alone.

Dreadlocks8 votes

Try using google -_- You can't google your item sets =[

RogueWill8 votes

you can google it. Is called mobafire lol xD

Dreadlocks17 votes

But you cant inject them into the client -_-

RogueWill6 votes

neither can you by googling the summoner spells without the spells tab lol I mean you can always tab out, 40 sec is a loooong time

Dreadlocks11 votes

You're right, it makes more sense to have a tab listing summoner spells than having in game item sets.

RogueWill7 votes

the point you gave about not needing the summoner spell tab was: " Try using google -_- " I used your same arguments against your item sets.

To the record I loved the item sets but usually was for my favorite champions that I don't play as often (because I'm bad at them). The champions I play regularly I have no issues finding the items even thou they are rarely on the recommended items. But if you want to give an opinion at least make it coherent so it doesn't crumble like a cookie

Dreadlocks14 votes

I'm sorry that you don't understand the purpose of the items sets. Its not that it gives you new items in game. It makes it so you can actually have set up the items you wish to build on a certain champion, and not have to dig through to find it. Well hmm, why would i even bother to explain this to someone who thinks prioritizing a tab for summoner spells is of more value than having custom made item sets. :) Good Day Ma'am.

RogueWill7 votes

You don't understand the work over value ratio, the amount of time needed to code said thing and the benefit it will provide, the amount of time needed to code the summoner spell tab is practically non-existing so it gives it a more value/time ratio and thus ends up being prioritized and gains more value....is that concept too big for you?

Dreadlocks12 votes

It was already made, your reasoning is flawed. Are you too dumb to understand this? Probably. Cy@

OyddAWqJ5r7 votes

He was saying the summoner tab is outside the in-game client and thus the information it provides doesn't reflect in game (other than hovering over your summoners--which has nothing to do with the tab) in response to you trying to relate the SS tab (an out of game feature) to Item Sets (both an in game and out of game feature). He made a joke on the correlation between the two. A joke you and ~6 others didn't get. A joke you all still don't get 3 replies later.

Then after you harassed him over a joke like a complete asshat (note this joke was obvious as hell) he then told you a realistic reasoning (nonjoke) of why a SS tab would be implemented over an Item Set tab which made total and complete sense given it's in line with everything Riot has ever told us regarding such an implementation into the new client. And yet you still claim his reasoning, Riot's reasoning, is flawed.

So plz stop taking things directly to your butt and should you wish to absorb everything as hatred towards your butt then please rebuttle with a little research and common knowledge before acting like and looking like an ass.

Thank you.

Mr Noggenfogger3 votes

Give this man a medal. The entire reason item sets aren't going to be available when the client launches is because of how long it would take to code it.

Xonra4 votes

"The time needed to code" It is already there <_<

I haven't clicked on the summoner spells tab past that one time I did it wondering what it was there for, then rolled my eyes and thought to myself "why is this even here?" and moved on.

OyddAWqJ5r2 votes

It's not just there it's trapped in the old client. And due to super old client spaghetti code they can't just take the current item set feature from the old client and copy paste to the new one.

Gets a little complicated on the coding level especially going from a dinosaur model.

Xonra4 votes

It is still on the old client, which you can still use (which I am doing, as are many others, as the new client has stability issues, lag issues, bugs, etc.).

It is still there.

as someone who has a degree related to coding (software engineering), I can tell you that is isn't going to be that hard to take the code from one client and move it to the other. There are specific changes that would need to be made obviously, but it isn't as if they have to do it from scratch.

It really isn't all that complicated when you've already done it once.

Sraeg20131 votes

Doesn't matter what you'll tell them, they are incapable of reasoning beyond "But iz duh new client".

RogueWill2 votes

I'm related to the field as well, problem lies weather the original coders left enough comments on the code to made if modifiable. I know for a fact that programmers don't like to leave out comments explaining every little detail of the code due to the amount of extra time needed to do it but on a non-proper documented code the amount of time needed to modify it can easily rack up to similar times of doing it from scratch due to the stupid amount of bugs and errors you get.

Modifying a 50 lines code like what you do in University is way easier to find everything on it than on a code several pages long. I did SQL coding for some time and left it because usually took several days to find the problems (that usually took about 2 hours to fix until the bugs starting appearing) due to the code the company was using was around 10 years old, built on top of itself whenever some new necessity appeared and bad documented due to the guy in charge of it was in charge for 5 years and was the only one that would modify it. When the company expanded 3 junior programmers were hired (myself included) and the old guy retired soon after. The system was so badly documented that they decided it was easier to migrate to a different client, I moved from departments to the Environmental Area so I'm sure what became after they migrated the whole system but considering I just saw an opening for a "Manual Writer" on the software area I woudl say the new programmers still aren't documenting the code as they should.

OyddAWqJ5r1 votes

They built it in the client meaning the coding is entirely related to the old client. The new client probably reads entirely different in order to streamline coding and thus the coding used in the previous version is obsolete in the new one.

Btw congratulations on the degree in software engineering, welcome to the club :p

notice me Sin pi1 votes

the problem is that true new players dont know what keywords they should use for googling

Dreadlocks1 votes

The problem is that they deem it MORE important than item sets. IDC if they keep it, but why would they discard item sets...

Dreadlocks1 votes

I mean.. if you can't google "summoner spells" Then i could make the argument new players should have a tab for "items" too, right now there is no in client way to view leagues massive amount of items, without starting a game.

notice me Sin pi1 votes

true new players that i was talking about should be completely fine(?) with Ashe item 3075 but if u r talking about general new players, i agree

Xonra4 votes

So it is helpful for maybe a month, but useless for years.

Yet item sets are useful...the end. Sure recommended items are good when you first start, but item sets are almost always going to be better as the suggested items are flat out terrible sometimes. There are multiple times maybe 1 item out of the suggested makes any sense to buy on a normal basis.

the summoner spells tab seems like a waste of space to me personally.

Marshbouy4 votes

I made no comment on item sets. You guys got really triggered over absolutely nothing.

Xonra3 votes

Did you miss the title of the thread?

"@Riot you have a tab for Summoner Spells but we can't have ITEM sets?"

You were talking about summoner spells tab being useful, (which it isn't after a very short time of playing). The THREAD isn't just about summoner spells, but about Item sets.

Marshbouy2 votes

I never said they were or weren't useful. I was just explaining that the summoner spell tab is useful. In fact I do think they are useful and the recommended pages are broken, but you guys are acting like a pack of piranhas.

Sukishoo6 votes

You do realize that the new client is still in BETA. It's got a lot of features missing from it.

Dreadlocks7 votes

You do realize they have said they do not intend to add it?

Sukishoo6 votes

Proof?

Downvoted for stating facts? Nice. But here you go sir.

Will the open beta be missing any features from the legacy client? Just a couple at the start. It'll take us a few patches to re-integrate spectate (for your friends and custom games) and the ability to join publicly hosted games using custom games. We're currently not planning to bring over the item set creator feature from the legacy client. Basically only an incredibly tiny percentage of players ever used the feature, and we've heard from many players that y'all don't care whether we bring item sets over so long as we continue to support 3rd party item set customization tools like Championify—and we will!

Sukishoo4 votes

We're currently

Meaning at this time. Doesn't mean they might not change their mind.

Dreadlocks5 votes

which is the same thing as not intending..

GigaPube2 votes

whats with people in this thread literally defending riot about removing an entire feature on their client, something that does not impact anyone negatively at all. its like if the items didnt tell you what they did in-game, you'd have to write em down and look up what is the build you want to go with so you're not considered a feeding troll or mentally challenged. this is just like when they removed the boot enchantments, how about instead of removing a deeper more exciting aspect of the game, you hire more people to actually fucking do something like trying to keep this game half decent with more in-game choices for the most popular item in the game, boots, and help people buy their items quicker so they dont have to sit there gawking in the shop

Dreadlocks5 votes

Boot enchantments are a lil different because it effects balance. Item Sets as you said do not impact anyone negatively at all. I often enjoyed Strategizing/Theory crafting fun builds with champions i played esp after a big patch.

Skins Project1 votes

In other words its ok if we are missing the shop replays sandbox maybe a year's worth of extra content along with a lot of previous content just for the sake of recoding item sets (Which must be done due to the different methods they are using with the new cleint.) Yep That doesn't hurt anyone at all. While we're at it let's just remove the play button as well and just have the entire game be building item sets.

It's a free to play game Stop shitting as if they owe you

Dreadlocks4 votes

Why are you so angry about people wanting item sets back? Lol calm down man.

Skins Project1 votes

Why wouldn't I? Back? Did you pay for item sets? Did you create it? Did you even own it? No.

It's a free to play game stop acting as if you have a right to anything here. Beyond that YOU ARN'T LOSING ITEM SETS. #Your losing the ability to create them and it will be implemented at a later date due to priorities The folder for item sets are still there. If you already made item sets they should still be active in the game You are allowed to use third party clients. What do you mean back? All your doing is shitting about how you need to take an extra 10 mins to find a third party app and move it into the item set's folder in the library. And blaming riot for not prioritizing something that can STILL BE DONE over something else.

Dreadlocks3 votes

Why wouldn't I? Back? Did you pay for item sets? Did you create it? Did you even own it? No.

Lol? What kind of logic is this?

Back? Did you pay for America? Did you create it? Did you even own it? No.

"Its a free country stop acting as if you have a right to anything here"

Skins Project1 votes

Theoretically Yes I did pay for America. It's called a social contract. I pay for taxes on just about everything. I give up rights in turn for safety, public services, and other rights in America.

Riot is a free to play game. Any "Money" put into it is for things that are either A)Free B)Cosmetic

Will you stop? Your not even on topic. All your doing is insulting others on this thread at this point.

Dreadlocks4 votes

All's i'm doing is insulting people? You don't have to comment. I have every right to make a thread. Riot didn't take it down so really i'm not doing anything i shouldn't or cant. If you don't like it, leave tough guy.

The Letter H4 votes

You can stop your whining, riot already said they're adding item sets to the client later.

Xonra10 votes

No they didn't.

They said they would talk about it internally, and have said multiple MULTIPLE times it is highly unlikely every time they have said that.

Mr Noggenfogger2 votes

They said that it was highly unlikely that it would be added before launch. They'll probably add item sets after launch, unless people start using programs to replace it a lot
