Help me pick a Champ!

So, I just started League about 3 weeks ago and have earned enough to buy my first three champs. Veigar for mid, Taric for support and Eve for jungle. Now, I have earned enough to buy my first 3100 IP champ. Since I want a character for each role, I need either a top laner or an adc.

Now. two champs caught my eye. Twitch and Shen. Twitch looks like he could be really fun with the invisibility and passive that stacks. I'm already good at invisibility and placement due to me playing Eve a lot, so I thought I could go and jump right into Twitch. Shen looks like a good top laner, because of the mobility that his ult provides. I don't know, you help me decide.

Did you know that you can get Tristana, Alistar, and Garen for free? Riot has a promotion for Twitter, Facebook and Youtube that you just follow the page and follow the instructions and you unlock them with a free skin. I can provide the links if you need.

I think you should watch LCS or spectate high elo games (from the client or watching streams) to get a feel for how everything is played.

twitch's damage got hurt last time. if i were to choose which of the 2 i would go with shen, tanky, can peel for your carrys, and your ult is so good literally can change a fight around anywhere on the map. definitely shen especially if you have enough awareness when to use your ult in the laning phase can really help out lanes a lot.

For the adc, the 450 IP adcs Ashe and Sivir are excellent. They are both upper crust in terms of champion power, useful to their team, take some skill to work.

Shen's fine. Top is kind of a kitchen sink of a lane, you can put almost any champion up there. Like Wukong myself.

I think a good champion that is cheap is Cho gath he gets very tacky and can deal good amounts of damage.

Twitch is a really hard champ to start off in the role of adc. Ashe is a much more forgiving adc if you mess up. shen is ok, basically you're a wet noodle no one can kill. the thing with shen is that you have to have map awareness. if you don't then your ult is useless. I wouldn't recommend either of those champs for a new palyer. ashe I would suggest for a new adc player and for top, DR. Mundo is a pretty solid pick.

Thanks for all the feedback. I think I'll go for ashe then work up to adc's like Kalista. For top I think Shen will be fine.

An easy and cheap top laner is Cho'GathChogath -- he is viable in mid lane and even the jungle. He can be built tanky, and his damage output is insane. And I think he's only about 1350 ip. A really great ADC to start out with is Ashe Ashe or Sivir Sivir, both of which is 450. Though cheap, they're strong picks and very easy to use. Ashe has a great guaranteed slow, with a nice farming tool and global ult while Sivir is more utility based later game, with her ult giving her teammates a ton of movement speed for running from fights/into a fight. Taric is a decent support, but I think Janna is really good as well. Though squishy, she has good escape abilities and her shield gives attack damage, which is really good in 2v2 in the bot lane. She's worth a try :) Twitch is a fairly difficult champion to play. His stealth doesn't help him escape from brawls, since it's a delayed stealth that can take up to 6 seconds if he's being attacked. Just try out champions that are free each week before buying, or else you'll end up wasting your ip on a champ you may not like/excel at.

cho gath can be pllaayed top jg or mid and even suport but its not something i really liike cause he gets health and mana back from last hitting

really really easy to play verry strong overal and good teamfighting tanky loads of dmg as for adc id strongly disadvice using twitch i actualy played him as a jungler basicly in a 2 adc team im not an adc main but twitch isnt in his best spot rihgt now

another good champ for top/mid mainly top would be vladimir he has a ton of sustain and no mana and a get out for free on his w for top there is also tryndamere wich is sort of easy to play yet really strong

for suport id advice getting annie wich can also be played mid lanae and is also really easy to play

I'd say Corki is my Favorite ADC at that price point. I've had twitch a long time and he requires a lot of effort early game for relatively little reward late game. He can be great at roaming and assassination, or controlling bigger team fights later on, but he's just too unreliable at the moment. Shen is a very solid choice at that price point, you just need to remember to use your ultimate in time during fights or else you are pretty much useless.
