Some help with Jayce?

Bought Jayce, and have been using him for a bit. I have been doing good come mid/late game.....but his early game seems abyssal. I find this strange cause everytime I've gone against him, I've been chunked down when using Darius, Swain, and a few other top laners. I AA and hit my abilities as much as possible, but I never have enough mana to go "all in" and finish for a first kill. My masteries and rune page is setup for attack damage to help with my CS which is always great.

I usually start with a Dorans shield, and thinking that perhaps Dorans blade would be better. I also get tear on my first back to help with my mana building, but again, it doesn't help with my damage early game, making killing / first blood extremely difficult to get. Any advice?

Alright, I play Jayce quite a bit so I can give you a little insight about him. Jayce is a strong lane bully. However, you shouldn't go all in w him unless you have enough items or the enemy makes a mistake.

This is what I use for runes for Jayce : 9x Mark of Armor Pen 9x Seal of Flat Armor / Flat HP if you're against AP 6x Glyph of CDR 3x Glyph of Flat MR 2x Quins of Armor Pen 1x Quins of Flat AD

17 Armor Pen 9 Armor 5% CDR 2.3 AD 4 MR

I usually either start with Dorans Blade or Long Sword and 3 HP pots or Flask and some potions. (All depend on the lane match up)

The reason why I don't start w a lot of AD, is that your E + Q Combo would chunk them out a lot more with armor pen. You can stack AD with items in game. 17 Armor Pen > 15 AD in mid / late game. I hope this helps!
