My Bronze V is Showing? (ADC builds)

Well, I posted in a thread earlier about vs, and I basically said you should build both (and not defense items). I got the typical "You must be in Cardboard VII" response. Which is fair, I am, but I don't see the point in building defense items. You're a marksman, designed to instadie if focused. I mean sure I could see or in dire situations, but or ? No way. When I build them, I don't see any gained utility. Am I wrong on this one? If so, do you have any advice on when to best build them?

Well as you said "You're a marksman, designed to die if focused" that is why you need stuff like Banshee's or GA so you can stay alive atleast for longer so you can do your job and dish out a ton of damage, because what is the point of getting damage items if you can't use em. As for when to build em, personally I build them when I feel like I'm dying too quick in teamfights because they realised they can kill me so I get GA or something or Banshee's when they have a good initiate. But that's just my opinion, don't take my word for it.

What's the point of damage when you're not there to dish it out? That's why peeling is so important and why focusing the ADC is so important. He's the main damage dealer and he will most likely stay in the backlines, just dishing out unreasonable amounts of damage.

Having some amount of protection will let you stay alive long enough to potebtially ace the enemy team. When you're down, your team loses that chance unless you have a hyper carry.

having a statik shiv along with a PD won't help you if blitz suddenly flash-hooks you to his team

that banshee's veil you decided to not buy, though? yeah, that definitely would have come in handy

Marksman are not at all designed to insta die if focused. The whole point of the adc in a team fight is to stay alive as long as possible while dealing damage as much as possible. Staying alive is more important than doing damage because the longer you live the more damage you can deal.

ADC's have access to an insane amount of healing with their life steal. Getting a defensive item allows you to lifesteal for longer.

The extra dps from statik + PD won't mean anything when you are dead. You should start building a defensive item when you start dieing before your teammates in team fights. Just a neg cloak or chain vest will work while you finish some ad items.

So, the unanimous response to this question has been "when you start dying before teammates". That only happens to me once every 20 games though, if that. More often when I build Atma's/Merc Scimitar, it's because I'm facing a VERY fed MasterYi / Katarina , and EVERYONE is dying.

It's a situation where offense and defense are needed together. Where choosing GA means 7 seconds of auto attacks, and choosing Atma's means 5 seconds with higher chance of killing.
