Aw, thanks Rito. Do they do this for negative behavior too? If not, they really should. I've been wishing that account health was more clear.

Riot should be forced to type something when that message appears.

Squeekems1 votes

What does that mean?

Simplicate3 votes

Leave a couple games and you will understand.... does anyone else agree?

Eric Senpai2 votes

i agree

Squeekems1 votes

I leave games regularly. I do not understand what you mean, "Riot should be forced to type something."

Like should there be a Riot employee that makes a custom message? Is that what you mean?

Simplicate2 votes

It's a joke references the message you get when you leave your first few games :P

Maliginant3 votes

Riot should have to type something whenever their servers/packet routes are unstable and cause someone to dc.

Wow that's really good that they do that. I like how they are starting to reward positive play more and not strictly focus on punishing the negative. Your name is slightly ironic for the situation - I like it.

Why do i disconnect from league because it keeps telling me that pvp. server timed out and now i cant get a request from server to login. now im reported for afk for not being able to relogin. waiting 10 minutes for 5 games is ridiculous when this is not my fault. FUCK U RIOT

KANYE OBAMA GOD4 votes

Pls make a item 3070 thread about it then. It's most likely your connection to Riot's servers, not their servers. If it was Riot's fault, then more than just you would be complaining about this. Lastly, nobody really cares.

Just thought I'd stay the facts. :l

meh they derped on me last night as well. Enemy team and my team both complained about it and i got hit by the time out que.

Riot needs to stop saying it's someone's net. We all know better. There was a time not too long ago riot completely abandoned the help and support boards till I stepped up and called one of their support specialists a liar (which he was, there's no way they didn't know about the server issues). People were complaining for a week on those boards and absolutely no reds showed up till I called them out.

They were all like "oh we didn't know" and that shit. If I see that it's happening again I'll do what it takes to get them to notice the player base needs them more than their precious fucking LCS base.

I actually played a game last night where the Ahri never connected, then our Veigar got DC'd, then their Jinx got DC'd, then our Ashe got DC'd. Even I got DC'd once during that but I knew it was my nets fault...I think

I played a game last night duo with a friend, and we were using Curse Voice. He dcd, I dcd, and our Kalista dcd that I know of. My internet stopped working and Hulu stopped playing, and so did my friend's internet, but our curse voice was still connected and we continued to talk through it. 'Google's down... Oh, Hulu isn't playing anymore..' It's like LoL hijacked our internet. We have different internet providers, so it was really weird.

I'm saying that there isn't a huge pattern right now though. If suddenly everyone just has these sorts of problems then it's not the same situation where you gotta make a QQ thread. At that point, everyone starts making a thread discussing serious problems and not doing the ol' "fuck u riot lost lp cuz of u I hate u all >:[". If a large amount of people encounter internet issues, it's most likely the server. If it's a select few, it's most likely the select few. You've definitely got the right idea though.

The last one that shows up on my match history as a leave was 93 games ago. Lol. I'm pretty sure I had to have AFK'd at some point in the last 93 games/month, though. I think I AFK'd one game in URF. That game mode was really frustrating to me (before I discovered URF-Nasus).

True but the problem is players who are toxic abuse the reporting function so its not accurate, I would love to have a account warning system that tells players behavior statistics and be able to see this myself, However I would like them to be more accurate for example Riot manually checks accounts after so many reports rather than an automated system, and if a user is actually toxic for example cursing at their mates then they can see a warning like this and track if they are improving or not.

The problem with the current report system and why it is abused, lets say a person plays a role and does (very bad) not intentional, but players start to say hateful things in the chat especially when it comes to forced role, non communication problems, and lets say I do very bad, or I just play a champion or different way than most people in a specified role, Then players start yelling (Report X Player) and so that player gets reported 2 or more times by one player and sometimes the enemy team even reports (X) said player without any proof of toxicity just because your team members said to report (X) Person, and this is where false reporting comes in but the automated system can't really determine that other players are at fault for things because its not human, nor will it punish those who start to get toxic, and or don't talk or listen in champion select.

You don't usually get banned if you leave 1 game in like 100+ games have had it happen before was just a warning notice, and besides im sure a human could tell I did not go afk intentionally not sure about an automated system.

System doesn't just count reports. People have many different things in mind when they say automated. Second, reports are counted per games that you're reported, not as individual number of reports in the game. Reports that are not legitimate, e.g. you playing a certain champ, you feeding unintentionally etc, does not warrant any kind of punishment and instead results in decreasing the value of reports for the person(s) who reported you. It's not perfect, but it's not what many people think either.

Which is true, the automated system isn't totally automated however the problem is mainly the way the system functions its still not a human and it often makes big mistakes from personal experience in the match-making system.

http://games.on.net/2015/03/league-of-legends-ai-toxic-players/ If you read this blog I read about Riot where they admit how the system works it explains in more details but some examples.

I got like 54 restrictions after having maybe about 5 toxic games, played like the previous day ran into toxic players I quit playing League because of the toxicity, so I played the next day got reported in about 5 more games with toxic players in a row pretty much, got multiple warnings (Automated warnings) most of them were (False) popping up (Verbal Abuse), but the real problems were not taken care of by the system.

The Real Reason for the reports was players who couldn't talk in champion select, pay attention, or listen, basically just no one talks, and the game goes bad because players can't actually work as a team game but rather you lose 5 matches in a row, and then the players who are toxic which is 1-2 players (Tells everyone in chat) (Report this player) Come back 8 hours later 54 restrictions 31 game restrictions, even after playing 3 more games after those 5 bad games with actual players with no toxicity, and proving that pretty much the cause for the toxic games is other toxic players who just like to report and troll.

The automated system as we call it is not perfect because

. Does not detect players who do not talk or listen at champion select . Works off of report ratios for example getting 5 or more reports in those games in a row from one or more players because of either doing bad even after communication in champion select letting players know you will likely do bad at (X) position. . Not a human person so it can't actually review games as a human person would and understand what happened in the game as well. . Can't determine Legit reports from false reports in all cases (If the system could) I would not get this many restrictions . Does not provide logs, or way to appeal.

What the system does do

. It can detect toxic comments or hateful words in chat . Detect Intentional Feeding (However mistakes can come in here too) if a player does really really bad in a few games.

So what can be done (Fix The Matchmaking.)

. Add Role Selection for ranked ( This removes champion select toxicity)

. Start punishing players who are actually (Reported for non communication) and do not talk or listen at champion select, or get toxic in champion select.

. Vote Disband, along with the reason why 3 out of 5 votes required if abuse the player will no longer be able to do it, for example Right click a persons name at champion select, click Vote Disband, Select Reason and if 3 out of 5 agree it disbands the game this gets rid of toxicity having anyone have to take penalty or play games with (X) said user. Lets face the fact I would rather spend 3 minutes setting up a new game, rather than 30+ Minute penalty and having to hear players do harassment in games in general.

Fact is not only League OF Legends has this problem, but DOTA 2 as well, although i Have to say after one single game of DOTA 2, I immediately got banned from all chat in the game for 24 hours while 3 other players on the team who reported me were on the mic saying hateful things the entire game, the problem over there is very similar to League OF Legends automated system right now, although there are other MOBA's which I have personally played which do not use automated systems like Smite, even Heroes OF The Storm, never been banned, and if indeed I was raging on top of other players with hateful things (You have to see the fact that Blizzard as a company even Hi-Rez would have banned my accounts already at least once, because lets face it I played World OF Warcraft, when I was younger, I don't like it now, but I got into trouble just for telling a person to F*** off who kept bugging me because of the explicit meaning of the word as well but it was just a warning, so I know they are strict when it comes to hateful things directed at other players.

weird that the only constant in all of your stories are you...

Lsayu1 votes

If I understood correctly, what you mainly have against the current system (other than the fact that some key features have not been introduced yet), is that it detects only toxicity and not the context, which is lack of communication, and moreover, doesn't punish lack of communication from players in any way.

I'm not going to disagree with you, because I think not communicating in game is a big problem (Riot does as well). I've met people with no respect for other people's time and the whole team suffers for it - people who afk during champ select or say nothing and do their own thing (eg. select a versatile champ and don't answer where they're going to play it after the team asks, then just go to their desired lane regardless of whether it's already picked and either say nothing or type something like "gtfo". And that's only one of many examples.

However, since many factors play in what we consider communication and refusing to communicate the system remains:

  1. imperfect. You simply can't detect or punish someone for not saying x amount of words in y amount of time, or judge impartially (even with watching the game) whether it was refusing to communicate and how much it affected the game). You can't tell if someone is not responding because they don't feel like it, or because they don't know the language. And NO, you can't punish someone for not knowing English, this is something Riot is very adamant about, and rightly so. What if a person is chat restricted and you ask them to have a lively conversation to have with you about strategies for the game when they only have a limited amount of words (then you basically punish them for being punished).
  2. I have a problem with people who hide behind the system being imperfect of flawed to cover up and even excuse their own toxicity. You can write a valid paragraph about the flaws of the system, but you can't conclude it with "and that's why me saying to that kid "stfu fak your sister mom cancer motherfucker" shouldn't be punished. You just can't. And many people do exactly that. You can't say I shouldn't be punished because my toxicity is a reaction to someone else's trolling/afking/not communicating. You just can't be toxic, period. The advantage of the system being strict on this is removing excuses for players to lash out on others.

To conclude: you can be frustrated because lack or refusal of communication is not being handled more harshly (and riot has a whole set of opinions and solutions for that), but you can't use that as a defense for your toxicity. It's an explanation, but not an excuse. You can argue that X amount of people would be less toxic if communication improved, but the connection between the two is so much more nuanced than simply what punishment system does in each case (in first: punishes heavily, in second: doesn't have a viable system of detection, and doesn't punish it - yes, actually Lyte or someone said no one was ever banned or punished for refusing to communicate with the team). The reason is that the best solution (or only viable one) is not to change the punishment system, but something else entirely - for example bringing in more ping options. And even with that, there are some things that you can't change - for example you can't insist that people communicate in English if they can't or can do so only in a limited way: language barrier is never going to be punished, and it shouldn't have.

Going any further than this you enter in metaphysical questions about what communication is and how much of it is considered needed to have play the game.

Please correct me if I misinterpreted things you've said or you disagree.

I agree that refusing to communicate isn't a reason to verbally abuse others, or speaking in foreign language although since its NA servers if players are not speaking English in games I am likely going to mute simply because it distracts my game-play.

The major problem starts with non communication in champion select, then players bring toxicity into chat, and in game usually because the so called (Meta) they don't agree with and because as a player I will personally player like super bad if forced into a position in the game with players who are just flat out in my elo (unskilled) because they can only think about playing the game a single way every single time, as a player I just can't play with this type of stuff where it be League or DOTA 2 which use similar automated restrictions.

. A good example is this morning I did a single Normal Draft Game no one was toxic, although we had players instantly take my main roles, and they Feed like 4 deaths early game because they were bad honestly, I didn't do harassment in chat, instead because I personally knew they were going to do bad I take something off Meta bot that has the ability to do more damage in group fights and hard peel for the adc, and the team actually groups up early than most people like to and we win as a result to not dragging out a game raging at one another about how players sucked. ( I agree I did screw up a few times too especially wasting flash at start instead of my other ability) But even when doing such our team won.

. Another example is a game after this I get matched with a second pick who instantly locks stuff, get forced into a jungle role which again I play Jungle, and dual roles a bit differently than most average players at times, and as a team we could have done better at least, or maybe won the game, but not only did toxicity start in champion select because of "refusing to communicate" but the game starts "no one listens to help each-other and pull off some group plays instead they decide "Lets Feed" "Lets not listen still" and then players start harassing chat and yelling to report because of not being able to carry a game which they would not do a single thing that was needed to even try to win the game.

. Three Match-Making matches after this were dodge games once by myself 2 from other players because again players refused to communicate, did not talk in champion select and things went horrid because of this.

Which brings me to the point of why we need.

1.) Role Selection, so players can fill the roles they can actually play (Reducing Champion select toxicity) now I agree when players play a dual bottom lane role communication is always going to be a problem, and the issue will still remain where players have no idea what champions they should be playing for a valid team comp that stands a chance to win, however given the fact that players can select their main roles they are willing to play "in theory" should improve the game-play experience into more skilled matches as well as getting rid of the X role or Feed problem.

2.) Communication, and Vote Disband could still be added to the game when things just don't go well in champion select.

I agree nothing is perfect, but neither is the automated systems in both League & DOTA 2 which both need to be fixed, I agree that League has serious issues, but DOTA 2 has a worse automated system, and worse toxicity compared to League which is left un-watched because players are on voice abusing others with hateful things, however in DOTA 2 the problem is very similar to League, if you even do bad, or due to lack of communication as well in that game, as well as a role selection, players get toxic and spam reports for (Verbal Abuse) or something and players get incorrectly punished over there too, had the same problem in that game, because valve won't fix the system but rather uses the same report options to punish players, yet the players the same as in League are the ones who are abusive, and I see many complaints on their forums about it as well.

http://dev.dota2.com/forumdisplay.php?f=446

Yet in Smite, World OF Tanks, and every other MOBA without an automated system I have yet to run into any issues, It just feels playing both DOTA 2, and League that not only do you have to deal with other players abuse, but you have to get additional abuse by the game developers themselves who can't find a valid solution to fix the current problems.
