Why is red sightstone 5 slots and not 6?
Question. It's an extra 800 gold for 1 slot? Wat?

What if riot gives red sightstone a passive that allows it to regenerate wards like a trinket? 5 slot wards are meant to be used over a longer period of time rather than instantly (since we can only place 3 wards at a time). Also self sustaining supports can keep on giving vision control instead of going back and slowly wobbling back to key objectives.
approves. Unless the cooldown is the same or greater than warding trinket then the item could be OP since vision is almost as important as objectives
Not really, when you port back the cooldown is already pretty low.
And warding trinket has another main use: it provides at least some vision with an otherwise full inventory.

Give a new ward every two minutes or minute and a half seems fair.
This please, you place three wards for three minutes and only have one in reserve before you need to port back.
So you spend a lot of time either placing wards or running back from base, leaving you with a lack of gold and xp.
having two extra wards instead of one, means a lot there, but not enough to spend gold on health you may not need.
And a boosting 400 HP frm 150 HP.
Yep, you pay 400 Gold for the 150 Health and 400 Gold for the four ward passive.
then you pay 667 Gold for the 250 Health and only 133 for the fifth ward.
It's a little more than the first four, but you pay for the wards and for the ability to carry more of them.
Which speaks to the need for other items built out of Sightstone. I'd much rather spend 667 gold on something that helps me support.
No doupt about that, most of the time it's a bad idea to get, just not nearly as bad as the OP made it out to be.
I think if you upgrade to ruby you should get to place 4 wards instead of 3 and it hold 5
Then people would never ward and say "well you're the support and you get 4 wards now so stfu" -_-.
they already do that now
Would give them even more excuses

The whole point in the changes were that wards were very effective but very unsatisfying,so the max was placed in order to avoid that trap, doing what you've suggested will be a step backwards.(support will once again need to spend more money on wards,as ruby would be core and not very cost effective aside from ward production)
They should simply buff the base stats on it,or create some different version(like sapphire sightstone or whatnot) which give solid stats, ruby sightstone should be buffed as well.
Don't forget ppl, sightstones were made back when you could place an unlimited number of wards.
That's just another reason for why they could use an upgrade.
I only build the ruby sightstone when I have absolutely nothing else to buy/upgrade.
Really I think sightstone should just be eliminated and instead be an upgradable trinket option. The current yellow trinket upgrade is crap unless you are full build with nothing else to buy.
Eh, the 475 upgrade allows you to double your free ward output, and have longer lasting free wards. I don't upgrade it all the time, but I do try to as much as I can. Vision is amazing to have, and that much extra vision is well worth the 10%AS/180HP/200Mana/whatever I could have gotten for the same price.
One thing I'd like to see is the abbility to place both green and pink wards.
It shouldn't be a problem to put two different actions on one active, that's basically the same as Twisted Fate's Pick a Card.
Noone upgrades to Red Sightstone, There will always be better items to buy as support, unless you have reached full build and have extra gold.
In my opinion this needs to happen:
Right now, the current system of forcing supports to use two slots and delay their build because of the necessity of Sightstone and Gold Items is just awkward and clunky. There is no reason for the Sightstone to be so monolithic. That no one even buys the Red Sightstone is proof of that.
I'd be happy if they just upped the health on ruby sightstone by 100 or so. Have it give 500 health for the same cost, and all of a sudden it's a pretty attractive buy.
Ruby SS use to be an amazing item that you needed back in season 3 before they added ward limits. It allowed you to always place 3 wards at a time through the sightstone itself while the normal SS only let you place 2. It had a separate usage and since the ward limits it took a massive nerf to usage. Its why you only see it in 2 cases. 1) When Supports are in late game and have some extra wards and the enemy is clearing them a lot or 2) When you are getting a lot of wards cleared early on and you need to continue to place wards effectively.
Ruby SS has been pushed to a very situational item for supports since the upgrade isn't worth the cost in gold.
The problem is not that red sightstone has 5 slots, it is that you can't place more than 3 wards anyway (and this including the yellow trinket, that as support you should swap with red trinket, but you could still need it at times by mid game) More than upgrading SS, it's the trinket system that needs upgrades
Obviously Sightstone is always a good idea, regardless of what role you play, even if only for the HP boost you can get very early on, along with having the ability to swap out for a Lens.
As for Ruby Sightstone? Well, there are few situations in which you'd ever get that unless all your slots were full and you just needed to spend gold. And could afford an Elixir at the same time. It's pretty redundant.
If they gave you an extra ward that you could actually place and raise the cap from three, that might be worth it. Anything that gets people to buy it more often, because it's not like they'll ever buy wards, no matter how critically useful and game-winning they tend to be.
I think it should increase the maximum limit of wards you can place by 1
