Learning to JG

Hey guys, I'm learning to jg. I got the whole farming thing down, but I don't know how to actively help the team and participate. Ganks and split pushing never seem to work out. Do you have any youtubers or guides you'd recommend for this?

NightBlue3 on twitch is challenger tier jungle main that streams almost everyday, and he constantly answers chat questions and gives tips on why he's making the decisions he is, I'd recommend checking him out (if you are able to watch during the day, he doesn't stream much at night).

Currently he's been playing on PBE and creating a tier list of junglers for when S5 starts, since the jungle is being completely reworked. Not a whole lot of point in learning the current jungle mechanics when they'll be drastically changed very soon.

i go blue buff > wolves > red buff (should be level 3 by then) > birds > rocks > and if i have enough hp i go wolves for level 4 and maybe gromp > then i back for spirit stone and some hp/mp pots, maybe some long swords (cause i build lizard). after that you should be able to stay in jungle or start ganking.

Ganking is never something people are really ever going to teach you. It's something you learn through trial and error. The best thing I can say is just try and gank in the herdest ways you think possible, this way you can learn the limits of both yourself and your champion pool.

Also don't forget about early dragons and don't go for Baron throws. Thats all I can really say without going in depth.

It really depends on what champion you're using to jungle, because broad statements are things you probably already know without even being conscious of the fact.

Give me your favorite champions to jungle with, and I'll try helping you.

Watch Nightblue3 he can teach you how to jungle better. Mainly the big thing when you jung is knowing what you should do on the map at any given time. farming vs ganking, ganking vs drag, drag vs baron, farming vs counter jung, ect. A lot of that depends on your champ too. my advice is to never go into a game thinking you are just going to afk farm jungle until first teamfight. If I see a gank oppotunity I will gank with pre 6 skarner or nasus even. You are there to make the enemy's feel pressure even if ganks don't produce kills. lastlly, to be effective ping everywhere you are going and plan ahead (ex. I'm going to gank bot and if we get a kill we drag if we don't I'm getting golems, backing and heading to blue).

I started watching NightBlue3 when I started jungling, he really helped. I watched his bronze to challenger series, which is particularly helpful because he explains the different playstyles you need to have at different ELO.

One example of how you have to jungle differently at different ELO(not from nightblue3) is running a madstone build. At higher ELO, you can go for a delayed build like that because your teammates will know how to play more defensively until you show up with mad stacks, but at low ELO your lanes will generally lose if you aren't doing much to help them until 10 minutes in.
