How can I win without using broken champs?

TL;DR, the title.

As for the long version... I enjoy playing champs that are more mechanically complex. Ones who don't just click people to death or spam one button into infinity, champs with interesting abilities that are just "push button to do damage" or something like that, and so on -- But, it seems like my enjoyment of harder champs is the main thing holding me back from ever winning any games.

So, basically, how do I win a game with a harder champ against a braindead easy champ that for some reason instantly kills people?

Say I'm using Azir, and I'm against someone like Katarina, Teemo, Diana, etc. I can do everything in my power to poke them and kill them, but they would just take next to no damage, easily dodge all my abilities, and then proceed to click on me with targeted abilities / auto attacks and instantly melt my face off. Even if I don't die, I'm effectively barred from farming at all, because even being in my soldier AA range, they can easily get to me. If I'm not playing someone with super long range like Azir? Well, I can't even farm. If I go anywhere near my minions, I just instantaneously drop dead, even in the early game. Late game, I can't do anything, even on a tank, because I just instantly die to all the braindead easy champs.

How can I fight someone who out-bursts me, out-sustains me, out-pokes me and has no resource costs for the majority of their damage? : /

Now, when I play these easy champions, I do very well. On my first game with LB, I went 19/2 and absolutely destroyed everyone. On my first game with Yi, I went 14/5 and helped every lane win. On my first game with most of these easy champs, I just absolutely carried and won games... but I just didn't have fun; the more mechanically complex champs are fun for me, while the easier ones are just plain boring. Even though I won, it just didn't feel like I really did anything to deserve that win.

Is there any way I can compete without using the broken, boring champions? I'm just tired of losing ranked games (I've lost 9 series in a row), but I want to have fun while playing the game. I just don't know what to do anymore.

So in the LCS, Azir is very good while Katarina is nowhere.

Seems to me the solution is to get better.

While many will say "get skilled" (to answer every question, including the easy ones like "where do babies come from" ), I say the true way to compete against them without getting better is to just play counter picks. For a while, I had a huuuge problem dealing with yasuo. Everytime someone played him, I'd die like 5 or 6 times a game just to him even if I wasn't in his lane. Then I started playing champions that worked well against him, and would use things that albeit ridiculous (mid lane shen and top lane karthus being some of my more "hilarious" examples) would do pretty well with minimal effort. I wouldn't say I've gotten any better at this game, but my ability to play counter-picks effectively allows my team to focus their attention to other lanes, making it less bad than it would be otherwise.

How do you lose lane against a Diana as Azir?

Anywho, the big answer is time. Lots and lots of time. You perform best on champions when you don't need to think about their abilities, you just act on them. Have you seen Faker's stutter stepping and often fluid dash/flash mechanics with most champs he plays with? It's a drilled response to him. It's natural to him. He's not wasting time and energy on his oftentimes very complex champion in the same way that braindead champions can get around easily. And the biggest factor to this, in my opinion, is that he spends the raw amount of time necessary that he knows the ins and outs of his champion without getting around that particular champ's difficulty.

I'm reading your post and it seems like your perception is that Azir is still a difficult champion for you despite you apparently liking Azir. May I assume you have less than, say, 50-80 games with Azir or so? Try just burning more time on normal games with Azir, get used to him on a level that you can play him with the same fluidity as, say, Master Yi. The key to mastering a difficult champion is simply having the muscle memory to make your difficult champion exceedingly simple.

By not locking in a broken champ you have a shot at winning and can thus achieve your goal.

You can cancel Katarina's Ult by dashing you soldiers behind her and then dashing to them. Azir's Ult can also cancel Katarina's Ult and prevent her from teleporting through. You have to be able to meet the skill level requirement for outplaying champions.
