Someone help me?

So, I've been playing League since early June-ish, and hit 30 relatively quickly. In August, I finally got enough champs to start doing ranked gameplay and placed silver 2 (though I feel like I was carried big time). At first, I did alright, but now I feel like I'm just getting worse and worse the longer I play the game. Where before I'd go 17/2, I'm now going 2/5 or even worse, no matter the role or champion I play. I've lost nine promo series in a row, and I've dropped to 0 LP in my division several times.

I can't help but feel like I really just don't belong in silver 2, let alone silver at all, but I want to reach gold for the skin and other end of season rewards. So is there anything I can do to improve my games?

... how can I stop getting worse? : /

I'm stuck in the exact same boat. I was finally silver 1, and went into promos for gold, but I lost promos, and then fell back into the silver 2 trap.

Have you gotten out of it at all yet? If so, could you share your secrets?

No, Im still in it, but Its been a climb. my history ( I had a bad computer, I mean bad for season 3 and part of 4) I was placed in b3 dropped to b4 then climbed into b2 then finished b3 in season 3. season 4 I started b5 climbed up and down and stayed in b2 for a while. got a new computer, and went up and down in bronze 1 for like 2 months. made it into s5 fell back into b1 back into s5 into s3 into s4. finished the season. season 5 started b4 climbed b1, back and forth for a couple weeks into s5 into s4 into s5. then a pretty good streak after I improved some of my gameplay and made it into s1 then into s2 back to s1 failed promos twice, then back into s2. If I have any advice. just keep playing. Experience is the best teacher. and having a good computer helps

I have a computer that can run League fine (though not on max settings), and I've been playing for four months now (several matches a day, at least). MMR matches you with people similarly skilled, right? So experience shouldn't be too much of an issue. I guess I was just carried through my matches and had my MMR inflated. >.>

experience matters... been playing for about 4 years or so. but mmr isn't absolutly accurate. best thing to do is understand if people are going to troll or not, if you really want to go up. keep a note on who trolls, for future matches because you do get paired with the same people sometimes. and dodge queues you believe will troll. but don't dodge too often.

I guess Im only giving you general advice, but keep looking at yourself, when you feel like criticizing yourself, figure out what mistake you made and how your going to fix it, then promise never to make that mistake again. And put 100% of every effort into your games, never let go and keep fighting to the last breath to give it all you have. Think of ways to win the games you lost, and start using those ways in your next games. You need some sort of motivation to win... that'll allow you to put all your effort into the game. Me? I just hate the fact that this one friend is better than me, so I just want to catch up and beat him down xP

My motivation to play the game is to have fun, really. I want the gold season rewards, but I doubt I'll get them. I don't have any friends to compete with or anything, so that's out the window. I just don't think ranked is really for me, since everyone there does whatever it takes to win, even playing champs they don't have fun as. I like more complex champs that require more than just clicking on people to win, and that's the bane of my League existence, it seems. On an easy champ like Yi, Annie, LB and so on, I can do incredible, but it feels like cheating and just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I just don't have fun like that. : /

Honestly though, most of my issues are out of my control. I go against someone like LB and just instantly die whenever she gets near me -- nothing I can do but build MR, and even that doesn't help. Or I can fight a Riven, and kite her to the best of my ability, but she just eats me alive with all of her stupid damage and utility all packed into her kit. Or I can go against a Diana and instantly explode the second she lands a Q -- the majority of the time I have any issues, it's because the click to win champs just annihilate me at every turn, no matter how well I can play my champ or lane. That or I go against tanks who just take no damage but 100-0 me instantly. I don't know what I can even do to win in either situation.

As for giving 100% effort, I do, at first. If it seems apparent that we're going to lose (and I've yet to be wrong), I just kind of stop trying and run around doing whatever until we lose. I'll try to get objectives and kills and all that, but I'm just kind of out of it. : /

I've seen this case so many times, but it still interests me when I run into these cases.

First calm down man, just go play a normal game once in a while. That mentality of will I lose this next game? is what's keeping you down. First all you need to know is that there is no special trick to climbing up, but there is a special trick to stop you from falling all the way down. That trick is to just relax because the more tense you are, the more mistakes you're going to make. That's why most of us usually do better in normals because we're just doing them to have fun and there's no stress from worrying about climbing ranks. So just relax and try to keep a cool head while you play, you'll find your decision making goes way up and you'll find that it'll be way easier than before.

Next, stop trying to climb with various roles. That's what's preventing you from climbing up. Instead of playing several champions half heartedly, pick a role and learn 2-3 champs properly so you can make sure that you can carry your team instead of trying to find that short cut to your goal. Some easy champs to pick up would probably be Garen or Renekton for top. Katarina or Annie for mid. Cait ,Ashe, or Sivir for adc. Taric or Leona for support. Finally Amumu or Warwick for jungle.

Finally just relax and have fun, you're playing league to have fun, not stress yourself out and get a ulcer.

Haha, keeping calm may be an issue of mine for sure. I have anxiety, depression and all that fun stuff, so my mood tends to be pretty volatile to say the least. I have noticed though, that when I buy a new champ and I'm excited about it, or if I'm in a good mood in general, I play far, far better. Like, my first game with Heimer, it was like 3 AM and I was super tired, but I was laughing and smiling the whole game, and went like 20+/5ish and absolutely carried through my lane. My first game Ekko I went 14/8, my second game I went 17/2 -- same deal, I was all happy and excited to play the new champ. So, keeping calm and all that may actually have some merit! I'll have to look into ways to help my mood, 'cause I do get pretty angry at the game when someone like LB, Kat, Riven and so on just instantly deletes with minimal effort thanks to their kit being so simplistic and easy to use yet borderline OP (Or absolutely OP, depending on who you talk to).

Thing is, playing just one role, I'd get bored rather quickly. So, I have a handful of champions that I know really, really well that can fill every position. For mid lane, my go-to champs are Ahri, Azir, Ekko, Heimer and TF (sometimes Nidalee, but not often). For top, I use Ekko, Azir, Fiora, Garen, Heimer and Jayce. For jungle, I use Yi, Nidalee and Tahm. For ADC, I use pretty much just Lucian (he's the only ADC I can tolerate playing), but every now and then I go Jayce. For supp, I use Tahm, Annie, Lux and Soraka. I own a lot more champs, but those are the ones I play best and have the most experience on. So I feel like I can perform adequately in lane unless I'm against some broken champ that I can't even touch.

I mean, the only reason I play League is because it's fun. :P But I do get stressed out about it sometimes, which I admittedly do need to work on.

You shouldn't have started ranked until you had around 300 games played. There is a LOT you have to learn about the champions and the games before you can succeed in ranked play. That's the mistake I made when I started the game, I played ranked WAY too early. Just stop playing ranked until you feel you can carry well in Normals. Otherwise, you are going to destroy your MMR and have a really tough time climbing the ladder.

Niyumi1 votes

I had over 700 games before I started ranked. xD And a >50% win rate (but not by much).

Normals are kind of iffy. Sometimes I carry ,sometimes I don't. Kind of depends on the team comp and my team comp.

How many champions do you play? You should only be playing 12-15 if you are serious about ranked. That way your mechanics will be better since you have a smaller pool.

Niyumi1 votes

Top: Ekko, Azir, Jayce, Heimer, Fiora.

Mid: Ekko, Azir, Ahri, Heimer.

ADC: Lucian, Jayce.

Supp: Tahm, Lux, Annie, Soraka.

Jungle: Tahm, Yi, Nidalee.

I can play all the champions I own very well, and feel competitive on all of them (not just the ones I listed), but those are my usual go-to picks. So, 12 favorites, and 21 champs overall. I constantly add to my champ pool though, and learn how to play them (helps me play against them too!). I'm the kind of person that can learn quickly and effectively, so learning a new champ and being able to play them isn't really hard for me, honestly. If I restricted myself to playing only a small group of champs, I'd get really bored, burn out, and just start playing like crap. : /

Azir top isn't a great idea. He is very open to ganks there. Jayce isn't a good pick for ADC, he falls off too much late compared to other ADCs. Tahm jungle isn't that great for ranked since he starts so slow. Yi is a risky pick, he's high risk/high reward.

One thing you want to do is look at your ranked stats on a website like LOLKing. That way you can see what your win percentage is on each champion. The ones you win the most on are the ones you want to play the most.

Also, always be improving your CSing. It's the most important part of the game if you aren't supporting.

Niyumi1 votes

Oh I know Azir top isn't always the best idea, but against someone like Darius, he's great because of his range. Tahm works really well at level 2-3 if you get red smite, actually. Yi is more of an uncommon pick for me, really. Jayce ADC is only if Lucian is otherwise unavailable and I'm forced to ADC. He can win the lane, but he doesn't have the same sustained damage other ADCs have -- he can still burst someone down pretty quickly though.

Yeah, I know CS is important, but I can't always farm easily with someone who can just delete me as a laning opponent. : / I try to farm as best I can without dying, but it's hard. xD Otherwise I miss very little CS.

That was my problem hit level 30 fast, and didn't know the game well enough and now... I'm in what's called Elo hell. Keep playing, practicing and wait for next season I suppose...

Don't get your hopes up. I was Silver I and got dropped to Bronze 3 during the off season resets even though I went 6-4 in promos.
