Top Udyr Thoughts?
Was just wondering about a top udyr.
Try and build tear then tanky. After that build essencereaver and manamune and keep muramana's toggle up for longer. Botrk. more tanky.

IMO Q start is better for level 1 cheese, Q, wait a bit, auto for proc then Q auto again to get them 1/3 health

I'd rather not wait ten minutes for my powerspike on Udyr, thanks.
why r first? wont you push the wave?
When did I say anything about R? I meant that stacking a tear is a pain and rather pointless here, there are better ways to build him.
if ur not stance spamming, ur doing something wrong if you arent spammnig turtle and bear as you aggravate the enemy team, ur doing something wrong
Yeah, but that doesn't mean tear is a good idea on Udyr.
Edit: the tear/manamune/reaver build is for people who run out of mana. Even stance dancing, I rarely notice a mana issue on Udyr. And even then, he doesn't benefit from this the way Ez/Jayce/Ryze do.
mp regen?
A moderate amount could be useful if you have a problem managing your mana, but that's not really Udyr's issue. He's balanced on his mana pretty well. I still wouldn't build tear over something like Frozen Heart, which also resolves any mana issues. I wouldn't rush FH either, for that matter.
I'm not a fan of tear on Udyr. When I took him top, I typically used the following build, with some variations:
Items:
or
,
,
,
,
or
,
or
Runes: MS Quints, Atk Spd Marks, Armor Seals, MR Glyphs
Masteries: 21/0/9 or 0/21/9 or 21/9/0 or 9/21/0
Skill Order: R>W>E>Q
Summoner Spells: Teleport and (Ghost or Flash)
I prefer Phoenix Stance on Udyr over Tiger Stance for a few reasons:
Bear stance to avoid ganks from pushing wave?
I typically get a point in bear stance at level 2 or 4, depending on how the lane progresses. Typically, I have at least one ward out to warn me of ganks, so I can often just walk away without issue. If you like, you can easily alternate leveling bear stance and turtle stance, or max bear stance before Turtle.
I usually put one point in Tiger Stance early game and max it last. Typically, I get my first point in Tiger Stance when I plan to start pushing enemy towers.
For top udyr myself it depends on who i am playing against, lets say im against a Jax, i would probably start Q over R, why? Q hits faster than R does, Since Jax does alot of dammage in a small time i rather have 15 hits of (let say 80) than 12 of (lets say 90) If u are playing safe, and wanting to clear minion waves fast; i would upgrade R.
But IMO i like Udyr junlge more than Top since u can roam and still backdoor turrets.
Jax is pretty weak early game though, I'd take Q on anyone who is easy to bully I.E riven, jax, mundo level 1
Saturn,
Lots of people below are giving the advice that I'm about to say, so I hope we all help you. Trick2 plays Udyr top a lot. He's hilarious with it too... enemies have to fight to catch him.
In addition, there's a lot of builds out there, not one of them recommends tear on Udyr. Most people either start Trinity or Sunfire/Randuins first (based on their enemy), maybe Bork. No one really starts tear.

Actually, Trick2G did start with Tear for quite a while. He typically got it on Phoenix Udyr top with
so that he had the mana to let him splitpush and use abilities with ease. Later in the game, he would build it into Manamune for the on-hit and AD.
I think his explanation was that Tear of the Goddess acted as a pseudo-Sunfire Cape for Udyr since it let him use Phoenix Stance and Turtle Stance more often.
