Ironicaly, I bought furor's more than alacrity because that enchantment is almost like a free phage.
I used to buy
because it would make dragon trainer tristana ride her dragon between autos, and because it actually makes ashe dangerous. Now removing qss as well. I think im going to quit the game. I like playing immobile adc's.

WAIT LINK
ARE THEY SERIOUSLY REMOVING ENCHANTS?
Edit: on hindsight I hated enchants when they were introduced in the first place, and I rarely even remember to build them until I'm full build now. BURN THE BRIDGES NOW.
Just the Alacrity enchant. It was being bought too much, and Riot put so much other move speed in the game they wanted to reduce it somewhere.
Edit: Seems I was mistaken.

No they're removing all of them according to the post by Meddler (which I happened to find after my initial post).
All enchants are being removed. Not just the one that was being bought excessively :/

You mean adcs need tanks to peel instead of endlessly kiting?!
Le horreur!!!
L'horreur*
yea. adc's successfully doing their core gameplay without 5 babysitters helping them out.. who wants that?
yea. adc's successfully doing their core gameplay without 5 babysitters helping them out.. who wants that?
Then adc isnt for you. Part of ADCs core gameplay is being made of paper. You die fast. Thats your trade off for having damage. Dont like that? Gotta pick a beefier role. Thats the entire purpose of tanks. Protect carries.
No..Tanks are there to tank the enemy carries and kill them. They are called anti-carries for a reason..
People on boards bitch about broken adc's then adc's get nerfed and people bitch, classic boards.
the only actual problem is the mobile adc's that have just as much or more dmg than immobile adc's and also have their mobility. THat cant possibly be balanced.
Same. It will be missed :(
Reasoning was that they looked at boots after standardizing home guards and wanted there to be less mobility in the game overall. They don't think the other options particularly lend themselves to a good state either.
Its really difficult to kite as an immobile adc. Nigh impossible. Why would you remove
Because they aren't happy with generally available mobility options. Riot's whole philosophy right now is creating class targeted sets of items and removing both ubiquitous general use cases and incredibly champion specific cases, whatever the short term consequences.
You should continue to expect this.
Oh..They arent happy with a lot of mobility in league? That must be why they are adding an item that gives you a dash. Makes me happy to see logic in play.
They aren't happy with generally available mobility options.
They're removing generally accessible mobility items and adding a class targeted mobility item. The design logic is consistent with what they've been doing for most of this season.
So ad bruisers have the phage. Ap bruisers have a dash. The only champions built around kiting have....what exactly? The only champions in this game to really really really have to position correctly have shit options. They have less range than general offensive abilities less movespeed than most champions, long animations, and not a lot of options in the mastery tree anymore. now they dont have furor to help kite.
Ah, see. You think immobile adcs don't have sufficient options to spec into. There's the actual discussion you could have started with instead of deliberately misunderstanding design purpose to capture the elements of fury revolving around any change.
In which case I would say ideally immobile adcs have better access to impactful CC to help them kite and contribute a more unique purpose, but I would say Riot has not always done particularly well historically balancing these elements between immobile and mobile adcs. We can all agree that Kalista is a problem child of design, for example. Perhaps it might be necessary to consider creative ways to tune items such as Phantom Dancer and take another pass at ADCs in the future that would help immobile ADCs benefit more from speccing into mobility, or deal with the issue in more creative ways than simple mobility.
That would sound like a reasonable discussion to have.
Stop putting words in my mouth jackass. Rito making game more mobile than ever. Rito not put price on mobility. 15/20 most banned champs r mobile. 16/20 champs least banned are immobile. Yet they want to tone down mobility by removing 3 enchants that dont actually significantly impact mobility of anyone but adc's who NEED IT TO KITE AND SURVIVE. I need distortion enchant if I HAVE TO GUARANTEE I HAVE FLASH UP AT EVERY TEAMFIGHT.
THE LOGIC OF "we dont want everyone to buy alacrity, so lets remove furor too" IS FLAWED.
Do you see how they touched yi because of dev. build, then got rid of dev. in the NEXT PATCH. Then they left yi? Why the fuck even touch him if you going to remove the ACTUAL PROBLEM in the next patch. Do you remember when cinderhulk was an overpowered item and so they nerfed SEJUANI???? Then they left her like that even after they nerfed cinderhulk, which was the real cancer.
This THREAD is about the weird design "decisions" Riot makes. They dont make any fucking sense.
They BUFFED ZED. [zombie-brand-mindblown]
If everyone is running Alacrity (or any boot enchantment, for that matter), you can't argue that there isn't mobility being added to the game in that respect. This removal of enchantments is a good way to rid the game of superfluous movespeed. Cut it with the ad hominem.
Ad hom? Ad hom is when you say that a man is innocent of rape because the victim is a slut.
You are going to have to explain how my post is ad hom, because I was clairifying the purpose of the thread. The purpose of the thread is to embarass riot for making a really really really confused decision. And when you put it in the context of hextech rocketbelt, its just absolutly hypocritical and suspicious decision.
Now, people are running alacrity because rotations are the most important thing in the game right now and they are taking advantage of that. its not like alacrity has always been a problem or like its been suddenly buffed. its just a meta shift. Alacrity hasnt ADDED MOBILITY because ITS ALWAYS BEEN THERE.
The only ADDED MOBILITY is the MOBILITY ITEM that they ADDED to the game. Do you understand? Or would you like me to rephrase in big words like ad hom which you can understand, you fucking nerd?
It's the personal attacks. First sentence of your previous post, last sentence of your last post.
Okay, I misspoke by saying added. How about "there is extra mobility in the game because of boot enchantments"?
oh im only attacking the idiots. you use big words, so you wouldnt be one of them. dont worry about that.
see, that doesn't make it ok to insult people just because you don't agree with them >.>
Personally I don't mind enchantments being gone even when I play adcs I never remember the dang things, which appears to be how things generally went down.
I assumed if someone starts a topic about a specific subject, say the removal of the enchantment of alacrity, they were actually concerned with the specific line of reasoning going into that change.
In which case, I would once again reiterate that the intention of the removal of boot enchantments came along with the judgement that they simply added general movement everywhere. And while this has all been very plainly stated, you might, instead of rabblerousing, choose to directly confront this reasoning. Perhaps with a declarative statement somewhere along the lines of (to paraphrase) "Removing these 3 enchantments don't actually significantly impact mobility of anyone but adcs who need it to kite and survive."
And, truth be told, then you would probably be downvoted because you dared to suggest that ADCs need anything in a crowd that thinks they are too important in the game, but perhaps you could incite some meaningful discussion about the role of adcs and what direction should be taken with particular champions in the class that underperform and those that overperform, etc, etc.
Now, this is all just my own hypothetical fancy about how an impassioned but intelligent young player might want to invest their energy in light of changes which they believed impacted them.
If your intention was just to incoherently rage about every questionable decision Riot has made all at once and not actually encourage a discussion, fair enough. I don't want to put words in anyone's mouth. Thank you for clarifying your position.
The rabble rousing is calculated. I probably have more lifetime upvotes than you. I just checked. I have ten times the upvotes. I also probably have more rioter responses to my threads and comments. Squeaky wheel gets the grease. So saying goes.
Riot makes a lot of stupid decisions and yes, im here to bitch in general about the way that they act like a three headed donkey stubbornly moving in 3 directions. You want to talk about a symptom of a symptom of the actual disease and then justify it.
I want to talk about the disease, which is the process they use to make these changes and the first order sypmtom which is the actual trends in the decisions they make.

Its a great change, enchantments are useless sources of movement speed that lends to the incredible movement speed creep. Good show.

Definitely this. I thought the common opinion was ADCs are overtuned (which they are). You should be able to catch them and blow them up. They have a greatly favored selection of items as well as unmatched dps. They dont need to be fast and explode proof too. This and steraks/maw nerf is perfect.
Like Aazzlano said, movement speed is is bundled along with many other items meant for ADCs. Items include
family,
,
, which adds up quite nicely. Getting a shiv/hurricane/firecannon and a Phantom dance gives a permanent 12% boost, which is superior to furor, which decays over time. Adding that with the active from BORK and passive from phantom dancer, a significant amount of movement speed is acquired for the duration which you need to reposition. Many adcs have built in options that enables easier kite, on one end is
, and other is
, which by the merits of her passive allow her to kite. Then there is
, which doesn't need to move and should by design.
With Alacrity removed, one of those three enchantments would become the go-to. I'm guessing Distortion would become that. Riot doesn't want a go-to boot enchantment, because then you need to balance assuming that basically everyone has that enchantment. With the enchantments removed completely, Riot can balance the game easier.
Honestly I bought Distortion and Captains more than alacrity....
This just shows that RIOT does not know what they are doing.
Used to buy
instead of the other upgrades because I didn't want to do the math.
I picked captain frequently when I knew my team couldn't follow up on my engages, such as leona.

What? Leona is plenty fast enough, if she cant follow up, youre probably way too early and out of position.
Pretty sure he means when he is playing leona
Well if they just removed Alacrity, we would constantly just go for the next best thing. Then their would be one left, then it would be removed. So they put every type out of it's misery now than systematically killing them off.
The most bought Enchange in s5 was: Homeguards. They gave everyone homeguards at 20min + removed the enchant (instead of balancing it). So, most people started to build Alacrity, ignoring the other choices
Now we are back to square 1) They expect that if they remove Alacrity, most players will buy the CDR or Captain enchant, while ignoring the other enchants.
So, instead of balancing, they delete. Right now is "Alacrity is the best choice in all scenarios with a few exceptions". So, players go "is XXX useful? no? ok, better get alacrity". Instead of "should i get X or should I get Y?"
Captain's are so important for my support builds. I rush mobi+Captain on my Janna....
They're failing to address why alacrity was even bought in the first place. it's because movement speed and having mobility creep in the game was already overbearingly strong that if you dared to play without you just got rolled. So everyone started buying alacrity because at first, if was incredibly gold efficient, and after it was nerfed it was still the better of the boot enchants because it was considered the most consistent of the choices.
They seriously should attempt to rework the boot enchants into something more diversified, modern and usable, like our jungle enchants. I understand that's what they tried to do, but look at what something like boot enchant teleport was like in the bilgewater event. It completely changed the way the game was played because of boot choice.
Rather than remove them I would argue that these enchants should be made more powerful, meaningful choices than their current incarnation.
+1 but mobility creep has more to do with things like the new champions they introduce and new items like hextech gun belt.
Agreed. But how old are the boot enchants? season three? season four?
When they were created there's no way they could have visualized the way league would evolve and become what it is today, otherwise I imagine they would have been created with a very different thought process behind them.
Wish they would just remove boots in general and buff base move speed slightly across the board. We all have to buy boots anyway so what is the point? Especially no point without enchantments.
It was introduced to facilitate a transition early slow phase of the game into a much more faster paced one, so game dont last forever, and people dont need to take forever to run.
Well see, league is too full of mobility, so they responded by taking away a movement item, leaving champs without mobility in their kit even MORE vulnerable to the 50+ champs who do.

Since when? Have you seen new brand and malz? They will be running from the immobile mages. Shit, Anivias CC was also increased. How about you let all the changes go through then try it? I main Anivia and immobile champs. I have zero issue with this. Enchantments were a failed experiment into customization, which, surprisingly, people picked the strongest one and forgot the others. Like... keystones?
