Am I the only one who thinks they're lying?

Whenever someone starts a thread with "I took a long break from the game [any game] and I'm coming back now and X"

I just never believe these people. I feel like it's a cheap ploy to be able to rehash the same old argument and look fresh. I remember for no good reason the first time it happened. It was late stage WoW, maybe the panda expansion, and someone said "I've just come back from a long time off, I used to play an off-tank druid and..."

I never could shake the feeling that he just wanted to say he remembered a time when there were offtanks in original Naxxramas. Likewise in this game, someone just wants to talk about how good the old days were. Am I insane or do other people smell these frauds from a mile off.
