I don’t like those changes to IP/Blue essence

So... I’ve played some games today and I’m kinda disappointed about how blue essence works.

First thing that I’ve noticed: you need 2500+ exp for level 31 which means a first win of the day and like... 15+ games, or more than a first win and a lot of games (and if you lose, you get a low amount of XP).

I’ve played 3/4 games today and I got nothing from it except some experience that isn’t even enough for half level 31, despite my first win of the day. Like, if you need 200 essence for a champion, you better tryhard for days so you can level up and hope to gain enough essence from a capsule.

Also, mastery 6 and 7 cost A LOT. I’ve read on reddit that the average BE you get for leveling up is 700/800 BE (which is ridiculously low) whereas you used to get AT LEAST 1000 IP (including first wins) for the same amount of games. Why are we forced to grind 5 levels for a stupid mastery emote?

If during S7 Riot did some questionable choices, S8 will be a year full of surprises for us (sadly).

Tl;dr: it takes too much time to collect BE compared to the old system, some stuff is even more expensive and you only get something once you level up = after 20 games (and not everyone has the time to play 10 games every day).

the weird thing is that it's not a problem to people who existed pre-patch, because most of us got a 50k BE orb to do whatever with and then eat. I feel almost like they did it just to keep us from uproaring about the weird change/s to the IP/BE system.

With the new BP system curency Ive managed to buy all the champions for 3000 and something BP, instead of 6300 or 4800 each! So I think it is worth! And if the new champion is coming and it will be at 7800 BP , I will get her at 3000 BP :)))). Nice job RITO! [slayer-jinx-wink]

i leveled up today and i got 5 champion shards. three of them were 450 champs. aka 90 blue dust per disenchant. so i would say no, #notworth

Ok really corporate greed like wtf. First, lol required 0 money to play. Second, There is 0 pay to win mechanic Third, most games now adays require you to pay upfront plus in game money

Oh let's not forget things like Xbox live subscriptions just to play the games you paid to play.

I mean how are people suppose to make money and pay their house bills if they offered everything free.

You know I don't give a dam about skins and own the champions I like to play and I still throw about 20 or so a year as a thank you for the game I spend so much time playing.

I'm not surprised by this. I'm pretty sure a similar thing happened the last few times Riot did anything with IP. I can't remember what season, but it was several years ago that Riot said they were adjusting IP numbers and that everyone would be getting more and it was just them being dishonest. I feel like that's happened more than once too. What can you expect though from them now? They send out a survey about refunds for runes and everyone tells them that the number there isn't high enough and what do they do? Go give people even less. I understand companies need to make money but Riot stopped doing things best for the average player a long time ago.

They've multiple times made it harder to get IP. I mean most people don't even know that you used to be able to get IP from custom games (without needing a full team) for example. I get the reason they took off xp from them, but that actually slowed down IP a lot from back in the day. Then they lowered the amount further unless you had full teams in customs, and so on.

They are using "runes are free!" as their excuse, but champs aren't. 6300 BE still for a champ. It will take at least double the time to get that much BE now, and even longer by a lot if you are playing enough to level up.

Riot did an amazing job obfuscating how bad the change over to BE was on the whole (from top to bottom to this silly limited time store) by constantly hyping up the rune changes over everything else and not really bringing up the BE stuff past a few answers and the initial talking points.

They made it sound like you'd be getting the same amount (Which is false, especially as you play more you WILL be getting less as you level up past 40 given the fact you get it as you level not as you play, and the more you level the more you have to play to level, and WIN, given first win of the day which is actually important now). The fact that you get less BE than you did IP yet all the costs for everything IP related didn't go down to compensate, meaning eventually you will either stop having all champs or start having to buy RP (which is clearly their objective).

Also, what's happening with all that RNG? First hextech crafting and that's ok, but now you can get more or less BE based on how lucky you are.

Basically they're thinking: you want a champ? Good luck with your BE drop. But y'know, you can still buy it from the shop for RP!

100% this. The difference in earning BE by playing games now is 1-2 standard deviations BELOW the previous values. Just considering the FWOTD bonuses, 10 games = 1500 IP. IF 10 games was a level up (It's not) then the loot chest would have to drop 1500 BE just to be the same. This does not include the regular IP you used to win from a game nor does it consider that the true amount of games needed is closer to 13. That pushes the deviation even further away.

I just leveled on another account and got Illaoi. I want to buy Illaoi one day, just not as my next champion. So this means I get no BE after playing 15 games because I don't want to destroy that shard. You can tell me it's my choice whether to do so or not, but it's a shit position to be in and Riot shouldn't have forced these choices upon us.

What do you mean, this whole essence shop is a reward for vets. I mean you can get...silly emotes, and more ward skins and icons no one but you will see really, and these mystery mini icons. All these neat stuff! /s

They told us for so long they've be rewarding vets. They flat out said in one of those surveys not THAT long ago (but before announcing the BE change) that Vets would be getting rewarded with more IP and ways to spend it. Both of which were lies.

i dont know man my friend who i have played thousands of hours more than is considered a vet and if he has the vet rewards then i know im gonna see nearly every single person i play with have the same...its definitely not gonna be a rare thing untill all the new players from all these new ads they are running come in. and since i got all the runes 4 years ago it dosnt equate to essence cause its not what i spent last year otherwise i would get about 500k-600k...so i cant even get the urfwick unless i grind out some matches everyday and even then i dont know what the new ratios are...for me icons just dont say anything to me and the chromas you get to choose are pink an yellow kinda chomas the other 75% cost RP....man i have not had a reward in the past 4 years! i dont know what they where talking about with rewarding vets...are they talking about the kayle skin they gave a ton of people??? or the police one? cause thats about all i can remember

I hate to break it to you, but this screws new players too. I was teaching a friend to play today, and watched her play for HOURS. She went from level 1 to level 8 today. And after all that time, you know what she got? Ashe and Garen for free, One 3150 champ and enough BE to unlock him in one capsule at level 3. And the rest of the capsules she got for going up 5 levels, after disenchanting, got her less than 1300 BE. You need 20 champs to play drafts/ranked. At the rate she's earning champions and blue essence, she'll be level 50 before she ever gets 20 champs.

Belive me as a new player I can tell you for a fact its FAR worse for us, because as where you get some shards and nothing of substance we instead get very little BE for every level but on top of that it takes us like 5 levels to get enough BE to even get a specific champ, before the climb from 1-30 would result in around 20 champs, so by the time you hit 30 you'd have enough to get into ranked, now it takes 5-6x that.

I can live with a grind where I can buy a champ every week or two. but this change with the BE is pathetic. I just did a grind when Nidalee was in the rotation because I decided I wanted to buy her. 1 week later I had enough IP and bought her. If it happens again that there is a champ I would like to purchase outright for BE, ... I just don't realistically see that happening. Like Kayn for 6300. How in the hell am I ever going to save up that much BE at 750 per level?

I think I will being going back to DOTA TYVM.....

No see 750 is IF YOU GET LUCKY, most of the time it lands around 500. So yea you're smart to go back to DOTA, especially right now.

Dude its trash for new players as well. Average level up gives 810 BE, if you luck out and get 3 champ shards in that then you can reroll that to any champ that doesn't cost 450 and it is more worthwhile, unlocking every champ the way you want to is fucking hard as hell now, but unlocking all of them at the fastest rate is a champ a level up which is absurdly low seeing as you need to hit level 100 to get most champs if that is the case. Like not sure whats going on there, and even then fuck getting mastery 7 on anyone because it costs more than half the champions

Edit: rerolling isn't a thing anymore so its even worse

Yeah :/ Well "milestone" levels as they call them so 50, 100, ect are supposed to have more special things like Emotes and even skins. Not that emotes are that special xD

Just leveled up. Got a capsule as promised, opened a Jhin shard. I would get 1260 BE if I disenchanted it. Unlocking a 6300IP/BE champ costs 3780BE. Mystery champion shards used to cost 1700 IP. Now they cost 3950. Even if you get a 6300 champ, it would cost you 7730 BE (3950 for the shard, 3780 to unlock it).

The whole point is to make you buy some RP then loot and hope for the best. It`s actually a simple but effective marketing strat. Sad it has finally found league.

They took everything bad from the HOTS economy and made it their own, grats rito.Atleast in HOTS you don't feel like you're getting the D.You get gold after each match and feel very rewarded when you level up not some shitty ass champ shards that you pretty much gotta "melt" to get a "ton" of BE.

Solutions: BE /match; Double the BE people get from capsules; Increase the number of shards/capsule; Throw in the capsules cosmetic shit(so people actually feel is worth playing?!)

Who the hell wants to play 1000 hours to get 2 Garen shards?!

Riot needs to shift there focus for forcing players to buy the champs they want for RP and focus more on getting them to want RP for fun or cool things, like skins, chromas, and other silly things.

You shouldn't feel pigeon holed into dropping 10$ on a champ which they will just rework later on down the road to a point you wish you never bought them, (urgot, twitch, ryze, sion, eve... i'm looking at you)

Leveling up champ masteries isn't even worth it anymore. It's way too expensive considering the Blue Essence you get on average. I hate how you don't even get rewarded after each game, making this game even grindier than Heroes of the Storm

I'm with you man. Leveling up my new account is so ardous that after gaining 4 chests for this month ( 1 of them gave me useless shitty emote, the other gave me a chamo shard ) I stop playing. Now l'll wait for Riot to patch this, else goodbye league cuz Dragon's Dogma is better anyway
