Riot, can Beemo and Beekeeper Singed sales go to save the bees?

As we all know, bees are now verging on becoming endangered. We need bees to pollinate and make plants grow so we can all live and breathe the oxygen the plants make.

So Riot, can the upcoming Beemo skin and Beekeeper Singed have their sales go towards bee preservation groups?

Hey! I really appreciate you sharing your idea. We get similar suggestions from time to time - you can read this response to another related thread here: https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/6zi5bf/a_portion_of_the_money_earned_from_bee_keeper/dmwll45/ I appreciated the response here as well, if you want more useful context: https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/6z65wj/riot_should_put_forecast_janna_for_sale_and/dmtebo7/?context=1 TL;DR we are thinking about this kind of stuff, even if we aren't always talking about it publicly.

It has been asked before when Beekeeper Singed was released, and the short answer is no. That said, Riot does give money to charity annually.

Still a shame, because we have to save these cuties: https://www.wallpaperflare.com/static/862/318/498/bumblebee-macro-shot-photography-bee-wallpaper.jpg

This has been asked before, this was answered before. Riot doesn't do this but they do give some money to charity every year.

i just wish we could stop giving bee skins to champs i play so i'm no longer forced to buy them.

Sales of this skin should go towards therapy sessions for toplaners who have had to lane against Teemo.

The proper bees, though. Native bumblebees and the like can stay but I wouldn’t bat an eye at the eradication of many stereotypical “classic” bees popularized in the past few decades or so.

Many variants of honeybees across North America are actually European invaders which have been killing off our natural ecosystem for so long people have forgotten they aren’t supposed to be here.

Bees aren't the only who ones pollinate, other common insect do it too (also wind, but wind is meh)

Honestly I don't know why riot wouldn't other than just plain greed. They are going to make more than their money back even if they donated 90% of it. It would be nice to see a large company do something like this other than "annual donations" a year. I know Riot donates to charities sometimes, especially with the Worlds skins this year, but I feel like with such a big platform, they should be able and should want to make a bigger impact on the earth. Does anyone know if they announce their annual donations to charity each year, I've never heard of it and wanna know what it is lol.

If at the very least 50% of the sales of Beemo go towards saving bees, I'd still gladly support it

Brilliant idea OP nonetheless

Most of the honeybees that are dying are those in commericial operations that truck them around the country to pollinate commericial fruit orchids. Honeybees are dying off because they grow queen bees in a lab on narrow genetic stock, which produces weak hives. Bad raising methods result in weaker queens too. Beekeeping on that scale its seen as easier to just buy queen bees fresh than try to manage existing hives going through a more natural process of development. But there are always unforseen consequences when you try to shortcut the designs in nature.

Rather than amend thier ways, they are trying to find something else to blame for it. Pesticides, EMF, etc. All could be problems, but they arent looking at the one problem that is within thier power to change - bad stewardship. They would like to think the problem is external so they wont have to change thier business model.

You can't "save the bees". Dad is a bee keeper and a portion of our income is from them.

Bees are having a bad time due to: radio waves from phone signal towards electric towers --these two give up waves that confuse the bees and in some cases even hurt them directly. Confused bees might just die because they don't get the way back home anymore

genetically engineered crops pesticide and insecticide used for crops and trees. --these cause internal damage and causes bees to die.

Unless you can combat the 4 main reasons above, you can't "Save the bees" regardless how much money you are getting and saving. Sorry to burst your bubble. But this is just a "make me feel good request" that won't help anything in the real sense of things..........................

edit: dad's been a bee keeper for like 40 years now always using the same methods to take care of them but a few years ago, half of his families died. Not only his, but everyone in our side of the country had severe loses in their bees family numbers.

Hey now let's not forget our other major pollinator the mosquitoes.

if you want to donate, you can do it yourself, asking others to do your homework is silly.

Speaking of honey bees, my house is usually flooded with them by this time of year because there are flowers all over the place, but I haven't seen a single bee yet this year. =/

Bump because this post is awesome.

At least Riot puts some thought into charity, even if it's not specifically to these black and yellow fuzzles that make me laugh when people run from them.

I love the idea. You may have my upvote, thumbs up, and...something else that's good.

They haven't done a charity skin in a while. Even if it was just 50% revenue gained after the cost of design/implementation was met, that'd be going to a good cause and Riot would make profits, albeit a slower rate.

Plants don't make that much oxygen, unfortunately. Most of it is made by algae (which we are killing by polluting the sea). The reasons we need bees is because they pollinate our crops.

This is a great idea, but a better idea might be getting a sound clip of Nick Cage yelling “Agh not the bees!” whenever someone steps on Beemo's ult

Janna and Yasuo sales now go to support clean energy in the form of windmills.

Leona skins to promote and further develop solar energy technology. ...Except Pool Party Leona - that one goes to combating global warming (suggesting it's hot enough).

And Taliyah and Malphite skins to research more into geothermal energy.
