Rakan and Bard: Give Allies some indicators

RookPusher··54 votes·2,011 views

When I play Rakan or Braum I often have homocidal thoughts when I, in a sticky situation, attempt to leap to allies who are running in the opposite direction and popping ghost, and flash whenever they can. I just imagine them sprinting, terrified, while I am smashing keys to live and thinking of how I should turn my flamethrower up to 11.

Can we please get an indicator to let these people know that they're letting us die? It would be great if they could see a circle around us or something.

Agreed. I died so many times because my stupid adc was still running even though he was already safe/ under turret.

As a Bard main, I'm not really sure what you're asking for here. If I portal towards somebody, they're gonna see a big fucking portal open up, and pretty quickly my goofy Santa-looking ass pop out and start blasting bitches. What more of an indicator could there be?

Or do you mean those times when somebody runs away from you while dying to a DoT effect, and you can't quite reach them with your W to try to save them? Yeah, that is a bummer.

I'm going to leave this up for a moment so you can see it, but the reason you're confused is because I wrote Bard when I meant Braum. As you can imagine, that's slightly embarrassing, but I think I'll live.

Happy Friday.

OH. That makes infinitely more sense!

Honestly I'd prefer voice chat so when we're running away I can scream at them "LET ME JUMP TO YOU!!"

Tis quite frustrating...

revliledpembroke1 votes

Just don't be hasty and only say "Let me jump you." Things could get really awkward really fast.

Leonerdo5 votes

Use "on-my-way" pings to tell them you need their body.

The millisecond during which you ping them is a millisecond you don't mash the E button.

rakan does have some indicators

AmetDeCrypt29 votes

only for him. the circle radius for his shield dash is not shown to allies.

I second this I've made many posts to show allies ability ranges for ally targeted skills and dashes like shields and braum/rakan's leaps so they can know we're trying to shield them and can perhaps back up a bit into range rather than deliberately keepin right out of range so I have to FLASH INTO ULT YOU FOR THE FIFTH TIME THIS GAME SO YOU DON'T DIE

ahem

Potchikir3 votes

oh i didnt know thanks for letting me know

artthony3 votes

This would be amazing. I tried to save my ally by going in and ulting as rakan to slow the enemies so I and my carry could both get out, but I ended up only saving him, dying and getting flamed in the process. If he could see my e radius that would have resulted in a much better play, rather than looking like an int

Ping assist me and omw (combined) it's your best shot.

Tbh I haven't run into this problem much with Rakan? I mean it happens- but you can keep from putting yourself in that situation a lot.

You run into this problem less with Rakan because you can use his W to perform a similar function without needing an ally. But Braum doesn't have one of those options. If Rakan's W is on CD then you'll notice a lot more frequently.

it sucks when you try to get in a E > W > E combo, but your ally doesn't follow up so you can't E back out and are now stuck alone between two enemies...

I think any champion with an ally-targeted ability should receive an indicator when they've been targeted. Jax Q is another one. I can't tell you how many times I've died because the person I hit Q on just kept running.

Just flash the skill icon over their head with something like a knights vow arrow. Its not hard. No reason NOT to implement it, either. Simple QOL buff.

Honestly, for Rakan i'd rather they'd normalize his E's range for when he's not playing with a Xayah...

The first time i got to play Rakan together with a Xayah i was amazed how much more fluid he becomes to play, as you can initiat much more easily with E > W > E.

After going back to playing Rakan with other ADCs it felt much more limiting, both for laning and as to what the thread is about, escaping.

Yeah, agreed. It's nice to experiment, but it's ridiculous on it's face. He can leap further because he loves her? Is ANYONE at Riot married? If anything he should prefer to not be in lane with her.

At any rate, i do think the concept of enhanced abilities in some areas in not other (like Ornn's items) is a bad idea. But at least with Ornn it costs, and isn't a huge bonus.

Yes please. So many times my ADC has run off while I'm Rakan and then I can't dash back because they're too busy spamming flash or running from their own turret instead of saving me. Sort of the reason I play less Rakan than like Lulu or someone else.

While i love playing Rakan in general, i usually would rather play Lulu unless my ADC picks Xayah, since dashing around becomes much more fluent then

Yeah sometimes I play Rakan and I can't leap over a wall because my allies are running away then I get question mark pinged for dying... -_- fml

If there was an indicator that flashed around them when I first press W as Braum, I would be a happier Braum player :|3.

Actually there IS an indicator on rakan e, if you try to use it on an out of range ally it will make a green ring around you. But I don't expect people to know what it even means, or to even notice it. I always spam ping "e - ready". It's so frustrating to save the adc from their positioning and to have them run from me when they are just out of range so I die. Also I can never play rakan with trist or ezreal because at the slight indication of danger they're like "lmao I'm out bye" edit: WTF THAT RING ONLY APPEARS FOR ME?? serious??

JarodDempsey1 votes

I see ppl do that so often, same thing with kat and lee. As a supp main i never have friendly braum or rakan to help but I always remember to not walk too far away from lee and kat so they can jump to me in the backline when they need to.

I am a homicidal Rakan player too, and I find going homicidial with the pings helps a lot. I don't mean spam-pinging, though--I use the On My Way ping a lot to draw a quick path of what I want to do, while trying to signal the other pings well in advance.

I also use the omw-ping to help out my jungler if they're being chased around and I'm in a position to lend a hand, by pinging a path in front of them to lead them where I'm coming from. They generally clue in pretty quick, and can really streamline a coordinated Homicidal Rakan Slam on the fly, and from out of nowhere.

I concur. Sharing range indicators would do a great deal to enable teamwork. It could even work in a way that just shows the ally you target with it, that way they know just what they need to know (IE the range at which you want them to be).

you run that risk with anyone who can initiate, I have landed that zenith blade hook on an adc in a 5v5 team fight, did my full rotation only to die because my team didn't do anything

The thing is with Rakan, his E has abuilt in Engage into Disengage if your ADC knew how much range it had. Usually they are just a little out of range leaving Rakan with no escape after engaging even if he theoretically has the tools to, just that he needs his teammate to cooperate for it.

like the people who cant be bothered getting close enough to help a jax escape lol
