You max Tiger or Phoenix first (which is better varies by opinion and by season, not sure what the verdict is for S5), and generally sacrifice the other of that pair in levels.

Going Turtle or Bear first is shooting yourself in the foot. Hard.

They're somewhat even in S5. Tiger + Red enchant dunks people, the powerspike is HUGE. Phoenix is for the long haul and you get Devourer. Both are good if you play them correctly.

Pretty versatile character

The best thing about udyr that he is one of the few remaining versatile hero. You can max him so many ways and build so many items on him it's just amazing.

But generally:

Tiger =single target dmg, Phoenix= aoe Turtle= defensive utility Bear=offensive utility.

Read the gameflow what do you need for ur team.

Tiger/Pheonix > Bear/Turtle > Turtle/Bear > Pheonix/Tiger People usually get turtle second due to the lvl 3 shield allowing you to tank 1 free towershot, however situationally, people get bear second for the super speed allowing them to get close for the tiger burst before the opponent even reached tower. Tiger = bursty, Pheonix = dps. Usually turtle's more safe, but if you want to do stuff with tiger you usually want to divide amongst turtle and bear. If you're going farm mode, get phoenix then tiger lvl 1-2, then max phoenix -> turtle -> bear -> tiger

Don't mix Tiger and Phoenix. You either go Phoenix then Turtle/Bear depending on what you need, or Tiger then Turtle/Bear. Turtle second if you need to be tanky and impossible to kill, Bear second if you need to get places fast and catch people.

There is A LOT of ways to build and play udyr this season. Almost anything works as long as you max q or r first. Hers a list of things that I know can work. R>q>e>w Q>w>e>r R>w>e>q R>e>w>q Q>e>w>r

And a lot of these you can even grab a lvl 2 point in q if you are maxing r first then not get anymore q points. IMO right now it's easier to kill the jungle fast than it is to try to sustain through it. I favor q max> lvl 2 r> e max> r max> wwww.

I start tiger stance first, smite gromp immediately, kill it, take turtle 2nd, use biscuits as i take blue. My third level is phoenix, and now i'm starting to take bear 4th because most of my games at that point i'm already being pinged for a gank. After that I max phoenix, then turtle, then tiger, and finally bear gets the last 2 points.

Generally you want to max Tiger or Pheonix first. Tiger is if you are laning or going to gank a lot as jungle. Pheonix is if you are jungling and planning on farming a lot for Devourer.

I think what you max second has a lot of options.

  • If you are jungling and want more presence on the map, you can max Bear for the increased speed.

  • If you want to have a lot more damage, you can max Tiger or Pheonix (whichever you didn't max first).

  • If you are struggling and need the extra tankiness, you can max Turtle.

don't even get phoenix, max tiger first then go bear if the enemy team had high mobility champs and if u want to go more tank go turtle, but don't even get phoenix it will be alot easier and faster
