Galio

Remlap122348 votes

What's a Galio? Is that a vegetable? I hate vegetables.

The Taco Kat30 votes

No, no, you've got it all wrong. I think it's an old war ship from circa 14th certury.

Protroid24 votes

No, no, you're thinking of a Galleon, a Galio is a a unit of fluid measurement equivalent to 16 cups.

Sassmast3r24 votes

Silly, that's a Gallon, Galio is a famous astronomer involved heavily in the renaissance.

Melledoneus24 votes

You're thinking of Galileo. I'm absolutely certain a Galio is a chemical element with symbol Ga and atomic number 31.

1000angrybees20 votes

Oho, but you're thinking of Galium. Galio is a display for art or things of historical value.

bddesu16 votes

No, that's a gallery. Galio is a classic 1980's fixed shooter arcade game published by Namco.

Spaceman5pff16 votes

Of course you must be mistaken, that's Galaga! A Galio is a kitchen area on a plane or boat!

Chaotic Reks5 votes

No that's a Galley. You're thinking of a really strong wind.

Pryotra5 votes

I believe the term you are a thinking of is a Gale. Galio was a type of music/dance from the Renaissance.

Myrza3 votes

No, silly, that's a Galliard! A Galio is the name of a construction company which made one of the first hydraulic power grader systems!

Spaceman5pff2 votes

Close! But that company is Galion Iron Works. A Galio is a wooden frame from which a rope is suspended and used to hang criminals!

Blue Moon Wolf3 votes

that description actually fits Galio really well O.O

Ahri Yasuo Zed

Troiann5 votes

Ahri, maybe, but brand's teamfighting is much much better than hers even if he's behind. Zed and yasuo lose to lux, brand is a skill match up for both but he outscales massively in teamfights unless extremely, extremely behind.

How can Lux win against Yasuo and Zed?

Troiann5 votes

Because they can't snowball against lux, a lux who knows how to actually play lux will be able to farm safely and keep out of reach of almost all jungle ganks with her snare and shield. Yasuo and zed rely heavily on snowballing to do anything in fights later on, because they have to be in the thick of everything in order to kill a squishy, while lux can stay back.

Ahri goes even against lux because she can also farm safely and her charm, much like lux Q, is a death sentence mid game, allowing both to play the "which team fucks up first" playstyle, with no need to snowball massively on either end.

devdev4633 votes

Rely heavily on snowballing? Nah, they don't rely on snowballing. They rely on not falling behind. There's a big difference and lux won't stop them from falling behind.

Troiann4 votes

A non fed zed against a semi competent team (bar really awful team comps with literally zero CC), is not going to contribute as much as a lux in teamfights. Everything he does is extremely predicable, he has literally only one shot to do something, and a good team can deny him that one chance.

Yasuo is less extreme as zed, but again, a team with any sort of CC will end him simply because he has no range. I love playing against yasuo because I can deny his snowballing and then put him down (unless he has a yasuo comp).

devdev4633 votes

That's because zed isn't a team fight champion. He's a split pusher/dualist Both of which lux is terrible at. A zed that is even will still be able to do zed things while a lux that is even will still be able to do lux things.

BluePolarizer5 votes

it is easier for Lux to force teamfights than it is for Zed to split since losing a mid (the highest EXP and 2nd highest gold role) to go to a side lane is a big risk.

Troiann2 votes

Splitpushing right now as zed is no longer optimal. Because BORK nerfs make the item not as desirable to build for...just about any champion, zeds are much better off building pure AD. Which leaves zed's splitpushing something to be desired. So now most just go into a teamfight and hope to pull a non stealth rengar on the enemy carry and then snowball from there.

And if he does try and splitpush, the team with the lux will win the teamfight, take two, three towers, maybe an inhib, and then rotate to baron if the game goes past thirty minutes. Team deathmatch is ever so more prevalent now that the minion changes have gone through, so zed's not as strong as before.

"Zed and yasuo lose to lux"

Excuse me, I'm gonna go find a good place to die of laughter now. Oh wait, I don't have to, in 3 seconds I'll be dead anyways.

Troiann6 votes

According to champion.gg

Winrate against zed: 52.19 Winrate against yasuo: 53.8

Oh wait, you don't actually have any evidence to back up your claim and are so ready to mock my statement? I'm sorry, better go inject a medicine called "anti biasm" into your system.

Cosnirak3 votes

You're comparing game wins across all elos to suggest lane winning matchups... Yeah have fun with that.

Troiann6 votes

Oh ok, my bad. The only way to determine lane match ups is your biased opinion that zed and yasuo are OP because they have mobility. I'm so sorry, reputable sites discussing winrates about champion winrates against each other have nothing to do with lane match ups, it's because lux gets carried every single game yasuo and zed too OP they go 20/0 against her but because these toxic player play broken champion they get banned in middle of game and so lux win game, but zed yasuo OP they win ggez.

It's Plat+ only, and Lux usually wins vs some assassins, and almost always has for a reason. She even got picked once vs an assassin in China or something and did very well 1v1 but lost because they kept sending 3 to kill her. The issue with people thinking Lux is "weak" is because they focus so much on "winning" lane. While yes, Lux is -never- going to win lane against a Zed or Yasuo, but not winning does not mean losing. She has the ability to also not die to them at all while being the superior team fighter. She just tries her best to end lane "even" and win simply by being the better champion for team fighting.

Cosnirak2 votes

My bad on the plat+ thing, I forget which sites are which as I don't use them often.

"The issue with people thinking Lux is "weak" is because they focus so much on "winning" lane. While yes, Lux is -never- going to win lane against a Zed or Yasuo, but not winning does not mean losing."

That's my entire point. The problem is that it's both not fun to never win lane against an entire class of champions and that some people actually think that that isn't the case. They think Lux destroys Zed and Yasuo in lane because they're bad and lost that matchup in lane once to overextending into ganks and failing to dodge 90% of the skillshots aimed their way. You don't sound like one of those people though.

Also I don't entirely agree with the idea that Lux has the ability to just 'not die to them.' If a Zed is any good the odds he can kill a Lux as soon as he hits lvl 6 is REALLY high. It takes a lot of sacrifice from the Lux to not die right then, which is pretty bullshit. My strategy in that situation is to just leave lane before he hits 6 if at all possible, and if not to sit on top of my turret and try to land the Q as soon as he appears after hitting his R (the nerf to his R helps a ton with that).

My secret weapon against Brand is starting boots. Lux, just ignore her E. The key is to avoid letting her proc her passive on you, the e alone you can handle with some pots.

TaoistMaster24 votes

boots can be great against lux as well.

SociopathFriend4 votes

As a Lux laner- just beat the crap out of her before she gets mana regen. Dodge the Q and try to close on her to fight.

Also, depending on preference: stand in the minions when she's trying to E you so she pushes the lane whenever she tries to poke stay away from the minions so she had to decide between using her one ability that waveclears on you or the wave

And for the love of god- keep an eye on her shield- good Lux players will abuse the crap out of that thing to make people think they can dive her.

well with brand, starting the boots to avoid the stun?

I'll just E/W you to death because a good brand doesn't need you to be still to land skills. Even with boots, if i W directly on top of you, anything short of a dash away and the aoe has a large enough radius to always hit you. Thats considering I don't anticipate your movements so you spend the first 200 miniseconds of your reaction time going closer to the middle. Then you might not even escape with a dash.

If you want to win against a brand, start damage, but not to fight him, but to just clear the wave, spend all your mana clearing the wave and forcing it to his turret, if he wants to farm, he will have to use his abilities on the wave rather than you.

With his small mana pool, he'll actually run out of mana before you do, even if he focus's on harassing you, that's fine. On about the 3rd or 4th wave when all mana is expended, you back.

He has two options.

  • Back aswell, missing further CS under turret and at this point being pretty behind by as much as 10-15 cs if done correctly (brands early wave clear and csing is poo, almost garunteed to miss some under turret each wave)

  • Choose to not back and get farm, at which point you come back to lane with full health, and full mana against an oom brand. The first 10 minutes of lane phase where he has the advantage are gone.

From this point get some magic resist yourself, encourage your team to build some as well and ask your support to build locket of the solari, his usefulness in mid game team fights plummets heavily. (after all, his main source of usefulness is his damage, atleast until he builds rylai's)

WalkingInACircle2 votes

You can try, I do it with 330 base movespeed champions and no problems walking out of his w. Naturally Brand can predict where you are going potentially, but the reverse is also true. Plus, you start with 4 pots so its no biggie if he hits a few times.

Cassiopeia You'll out-trade her damage early on (considering you're both immobile, it'll be easy for both of you to hit your spells.) Cass will do more early, Lux will start out-trading at about level 5, but come late game Cass will murder Lux every time.

Nanuk Pihoqahiak4 votes

I LOVE Cass, but a good Lux will never let Cass get anywhere near her.

Games dont last long enough for cass to get powerful. When you play her you just have to hope you can get a kill at levels 2/3 and snowball. Because literally every champion out trades her after level 2 :<
