I am still a support main now. The queue now basically ensures that I get my role when I want it.
And the best part is, if I feel like I need a break from the support role for a few games, I can just queue up as top/jg and I will 100% not support that game.
The changes Riot has made to queues are great for support mains.

Haha. I don't believe the old queues left support mains in jeopardy of losing their desired role... but whatever makes you happy, man!
The problem is those of us who had support as our fall back role in previous seasons. Like when someone else got adc i could always go support. Having support as your fall back role now is impossible because it quickly turns into your primary role. But yeah, for support mains the system should work fine.

The issue isn't with support mains. It's with people like me who enjoy playing support, but don't main support. In an ideal world, I would queue up as Bot for my primary role, and Support as my secondary role. Issue is, if I did this, I would never get to play my main, so I've completely given up on playing support this season. Kind of sad really, I liked playing support, but I definitely don't want to play it every single game. I just want to have the best of both worlds. 65% of my games as ADC, 35% as support. I'd be happy with that.

I used to be a support main but I can not for the life of me bare to support in ranked any longer. I'm a diamond support but I'm currently in low plat. I'm not a diamond adc but I'm sure as hell better at adc than most of the people I have to support. It's so cringe worthy to play support, do your role. However, lose because your teamom doesn't know what it's doing.... qq
Supports are the happiest players outside the game and the 2nd saddest inside the game...with the jungler.
