Nidalee main LF similar alt Champion

Scoggs··1 votes·982 views

Not necessarily the same playstyle, just a champ I would feel comfortable with/have fun with. I'm still progressing through the early levels and trying to learn other roles, so any champion would do. I've had my eye on Blitzcrank, but have yet to purchase him. I enjoy playing Ahri and Jayce occasionally. I figure it will be tough to find a champion as fun as I find Nid to be, but all suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance for any and all replies.

Jayce and Elise are the other ranged-to-melee transformers, so they probably play the closest to Nidalee.

It might help if you outlined what you like about Nid.

That would probably be helpful. Where the long range spear is pretty satisfying, it's more about her versatility. She can hit a spear and jump in the fray, poke at range, support with her heal and help bring down turrets, her mobility/wall jumping (why I enjoy ahri), ganking potential, freely warding with traps etc. It just seems she can mold well to a lot of situations. I think the meta is currently Jungle, but her versatility is awesome.

Jayce is probably the closest in terms of simultaneous ranged and melee combat strength. Gnar also has a poke-leading-to-melee-engage pattern, although the playstyle is different because you can't freely transform.

Kayle has tremendous versatility, with poke and support abilities. Relatively low mobility, though.

Lee Sin is pretty much Mr. mobility and versatility.

If you like darting in and out of fights, Kassadin or Ezrael might also be worth a look.

I need to work on my Jungle and could see myself liking Lee Sin a lot. Since I play poke style champs he'll definitely be an adjustment. I haven't looked into Kayle, but I'll have to, she sounds fun. Gnar looks pretty cool and I've been considering purchasing him. Catching his boomerang looks to be a bit of a learning curve though. Thanks for all of the advice man!

So, you like generalist champions, eh? I heard Lee Sin fits well in that category. He's good at helping/saving allies, he has strong gank potential, he has a fair bit of useful CC and his power as a fighter shouldn't be underestimated either. Of course, he doesn't have a particularly powerful ranged-game, but still. Some trade-offs must exist. Not to mention, he's a bit confusing at first and is hard to master, but he can be damn strong if used right.

You could also try Karma or Sona. They're versatile in that they can both be powerful mages as well as great supports. While they aren't as versatile as Nidalee, the simple truth is few champions are. Each of the two have advantages though.

Karma makes a better AP Bruiser than Sona, and can generally hold her own better than Sona too. Through R+W, Karma can heal herself for 20% of her missing health twice, if you use its whole duration. Karma also has a stronger burst of speed on her E than Sona, not to mention it's also her shield, so she can survive even top lane. The fact that Karma has her ult at level 1 also gives her a massive early advantage, which is very useful in any of the lanes.

Sona on the other hand has stronger damage as a mage, but is also squishier. Sure, Sona has a heal that gives a shield, but it's mana intensive to use and the shield is pitiful compared to Karma's. Sona can heal, buff and shield her allies as well though, without the use if her ult. As such, Sona makes a more powerful support.

(If they hadn't been mentioned already, I would also have recommended Jayce and Elise. Despite arachnophobia, I did actually find Elise somewhat fun to play)

TL;DR: LeeSin is a strong generalist, and is probably worth trying at least. Few champs are as versatile as Nidalee Karma is a good mage with a strong early game. She can support herself better than she can support her allies though, but is still a good support with plenty utility. Sona is a great support and has damage even Lux would write home about, not to mention a lot of utility through her passive. Easy to play too! Short range and squishy though.

Hope you find it helpful, and I hope you like the mentioned champs if you chose to give them a shot. GL&HF!

Awesome response with a lot of good advice! Now I just have to save up the IP to try them all out! I have Lee Sin and I need to give him more play time, but I should also look into the support role a bit more. Thanks for such a well formulated and informative post. Much appreciated!
