Troubles with Elise’s Spider Form Rappel (E)

As the title says, I’m having some trouble with Elise’s Rappel . I’m assuming this is summoner error, but I’ve seen some posts that claim it’s bugged, so I thought I set the record straight. So lets say I’m laning top and the Jungler comes for a gank and catches me by surprise. Around half health I start thinking about rappel and looking for an opportunity. Once it comes time to execute I press E…. and nothing happens, which then leads to a panicked button smash and eventually I rappel. I’m a Nidalee main (if you can say the pre-30) and when being pursued I click frantically while pouncing to escape. I say this because the only assumption I can come to is that rapidly clicking for movement interrupts Elise Rappel animation. I've came to this theory cause I've never had issue with using Rappel while chasing (less frantic clicking). Can anyone confirm this or give me some tips to avoid a possible bug with her E? Thanks in advance for replies.

As far as I know no such bug exists, and I played her last week

I know someone I queue with and mains Elise, he has been complaining about Rappel. Probably a recent bug after the last patch? It seems it won't work sometimes.

So I did some thorough testing on this today, and finally figured out the mechanics of the move. I assume that it’s been like this since Elise’s conception, but your cursor has to be within the specified range of you drop area for you to begin the Rappel. If you hit E outside of this range, Elise will move to the target destination and Rappel. This to me is kind of frustrating, since your decent is the only part of the move that is range specific. You can however do a selfcast for this spell and it won’t matter where your cursor is on the screen, which is a decent work around. I feel that something this simple should be addressed by Riot, and could easily be fixed. I assume that would be a very low priority in the scheme of things though. Thanks for all of the responses.
