Question about end of season

I'll post this here as well...as I have no idea where stuff goes anymore on these new boards since there's no longer a new player section.

I'm an old fart without the twitch skills of you youngin's but I finally got the courage up to play some ranked before the end of the season to see what would happen. Last night I finally finished my provisionals and was happily shocked to see that I got placed into Silver. This both excites me as I feel like I've been improving...and worries me as the season is almost at an end. I had heard a rumor that you cannot decay out of Silver...aka...for bad play or inactivity over a given week or two I cannot be demoted. Is this true?

I ask not because I think that I got unjustly put into Silver..but because it would be nice to get the achievements for Silver at the end of the season and it would be sad to drop down into Bronze just beforehand and miss it. I don't play a terribly large amount...5-10 games maybe in a given week...so I don't have the time to attempt to reach gold (or the mechanics atm...let's be honest).

Overall...I'd have to say ranked was a surprisingly decent experience. I only had one game out of the 10 where people yelled at each other...and that had nothing to do with how people were playing. Nobody AFK'd...nobody intentionally fed....so either I was a statistical anomaly or people definitely exaggerate how often this happens. Some general observations...people's map awareness really is super bad in Silver/Bronze. I noticed it because I mained support for the most part. I'd ward up our jungle around dragon and near their blue etc....and more often than not my ADC wouldn't notice danger coming even while I was pinging retreat. I also noticed out of 10 games....I think our jungler tried to go for dragon maybe twice shrugs. It was fun though, and I enjoyed my experience. Guess I get to look forward to trying to get back into Silver next season.

One additional question...how does season reset work? Is ranked still up and going from November through the start of season 5 and you can climb and fall accordingly but you just won't get the rewards based on where you wind up after November 11th? And when will the reset officially happen...at the start of next season...or at the end of this one? Thank you all in advance. And yes...I know for a lot of you, you like to make fun of the Bronze/Silver players and say what I accomplished isn't a big deal. But for a 40 year old bald dude...I'm fairly proud of making Silver.

TLDR: I made silver...can I drop out of it by playing bad or not playing another ranked game before season's end? Will ranked stay up and allow you to move up ranks even after the season ends?

if you lose enough games you will get demoted try to play 1 rank game a month and u wont decay. When the season ends theres pre season ranked and then they reset your elo when they take down ranked for season 5 changes.

In Bronze and Silver leagues, you do not decay. However, you can get demoted. That is, if you lose enough games at 0 LP in silver V to get you to bronze III or IV matchmaking rating (Which takes a lot more losses than wins), you will be demoted to bronze.

Yes. It resets near the beginning of next year when season 5 starts. (Exact date is not released yet). The rewards are based only on your rank on November 11 though.
