Manamune + Jayce

I have a question about Manamune. Now...I'm not that experienced a player...hence my question...why do people go into buying a last whisper or bloodthirster or brutilizer on Jayce after buying a tear? I don't understand why you wouldn't push the manamune first considering that it continues to stack just like tear...but also stacks based off auto attacks.

To me it seems like it would be more beneficial overall to build the manamune followed by a brutalizer and then a last whisper. Am I missing something? I guess I just can't ever figure out why everyone waits so incredibly long to upgrade tears...when what they're upgrading to continues to have the passive (if not a better passive in manamune's case) than what tear is providing. Can someone please explain thoroughly what I might be not understanding?

thank you.

Better gold efficient items.

Costs a lot of gold and takes awhile to match the damage of other items. Rushing manamune is going to give you a pretty weak early game.

so it's just basically a more bang for your buck buying a brutalizer before finishing the manamune? So..nothing based on actual stacks then.

So for example...a good way to go would be tear, brutalizer, blood thirster, last whisper, manamune? At what point item wise is it best then to finish that item? And thank you all for the answers.

Tear is an item you pick up early and then build it up while buying other items.

Ideally, you'll upgrade tear shortly after it maxes out. This gives you the best bang-for-your-buck.
