Attack Move and how to use it.

So I'm trying to learn all the specialized ins and outs that should eventually make me much better at the game. Next up is "attack move"...that thing that everyone talks about but nobody bothers to tell you exactly how to do it and practice. To my knowledge it's supposed to move you to a specific place and then auto attack the nearest enemy...or maybe it autoattacks the nearest enemy automatically when he gets in range of that specific spot you just clicked...I don't know because as stated...I can't seem to find anywhere EXACTLY how it works. At this point I don't know if it's a keybind and a left click or right click (I keep hearing it's automatically bound to "A" unless changed...but not sure.

Can someone please explain in detail the ins and outs of how to do attack move? In addition...how you can practice it and be able to know that you're doing it correctly. AKA...you can practice in a bot game by doing "A"....you know you're getting it down when you can effectively do "B". I figure this is just another mechanic like learning to play with unlocked cameras and smart cast...but unlike the other two this is still pretty nebulous in my mind on how to do it and accomplish it well.

Any and all information you can provide will be greatly, greatly appreciated from an old man who's just trying to learn how to better play the game he enjoys. Thank you ahead of time.

Well first of all in my opinion attack move is more useful on adcs and ranged people but melees can use it too good I guess. How it works is it attacks the closest target to your champion which is really useful when kiting so you don't missclick. And you use it by hitting "a" then left clicking You use attack move for kiting (You can also use it to check bushed for example: if a teemo walks into a bush and you're playing vayne you can use attack move on the bush and it will autoattack him even if you don't have vision of him which can be very useful to help you not get juked or just jumped on and deleted). The only thing I use attack move if for checking bushes because the truth is I find attack move to be hard to use lol. And yes attack move is binded to the "a" key by default I think i might try to change mine to tab and see how it goes.

Now to get on to it's most important use and why most people learn how to use it: kiting. Basically you use it for kiting by a-left clicking near the enemy then once your autoattack comes out of your weapon or if your a melee you melee, you right click behind you and keep doing this until the person dies or stops following you.

A good way to practice this is kiting minions just use attack move on minions to kite them back to your minions and you will know when you're getting good at it because it will be really fast and you will look like one of those diamond adcs when you kite lol. You could also just go to bots and learn it by kiting them because they r scrubs. It's actually faster than regular autoattacking because you don't have to target the guy chasing you

Balancing using attack command and abilities can be really hard to do but it pays off in the end because you don't missclick and it's a little faster to a lot faster depending on how good your reaction times are. I hope I helped:)

It's dated, but still relevant and useful.
