I recently started playing supports for basically the first time in like half a year so I have no idea what to do. Even though they are for some reason incredibly fun, I have no idea what to build.

Please give me ideal builds for: -Zilean -Karma -Soraka -Braum -Ali -BC -Sona -Nami

Please also tell me WHY this is ideal build and not just post it. Thanks.

ok what im gonna do is split your support list into three main categories based on what gold gen item i think should be used on them

ok so first we will start with:Blitzcrank Braum Alistar Start: item 3302 {item 2003 item 2044 item 3340 then early game you would normally buy: item 3097 item 2049 item 1001 item 3341 item 2043 mid game-ish: item 3401 either item 3047 or item 3111 item 3364 and honestly a item 3800 is a good pickup and late game: you finish off the build with a couple of tank items of your choice, so the thing here is with this build on both alistar and braum you provide good vision control along with very good tankiness and enagage this also applies for blitz but blitz can honestly use either the relic shield tree of gold gen items or the ancient coin tree well so i will also provide a coin build

Second group will be: Zilean Soraka Blitzcrank Sona (sona also works with the spellthiefs tree of gold gen items but i personally prefer coin) Start: item 3301 item 2010 item 2044 item 3340 early game: item 3096 item 2049 item 3341 item 1001 item 2043 (pretty standard on every support early get t2 gold gen sightstone sweeper and boots along with occasional pink wards and switch to sweeper trinket) mid game: item 3069 either item 3117 or item 3020 or even item 3158 item 3364 item 3222 can be good choice here if you want but thats depending on enemy compitem 3174 is also an ok choice here because both sona and zil like mana regen and cdr and those are never bad stats on most non tank supports later on: you can finish this build off with more utility items more ap or even a tank item or two depending on what your team needs this build should give you good utility and engage/disengage on these supports

Last Group:Karma Nami Sona (im actually not that good at these supports specifically so this might not eb the most accurate build set) Start: item 3303 item 2010 item 2044 item 3340 (its a pretty standard start on supports you can however skip the green ward for more potions if needed on any of these builds) early game: item 3098 item 2049 item 1001 item 2043 item 3341 mid game: item 3092 item 3020 or item 3158 item 3364 item 3165 is an option here because these will be more poke focused except for nami who it still works reasonably well on you can also go item 3174 for more mana regen or item 3116 if you want more tankiness the slows and the ap Late game: you can finish off with either more utility or more ap depending on the circumstances ok since these are more poke focused supports most of the time you want your poke to damage so with this build you can do that

ok hope this helps as a sidenote upgrading sightstone to ruby sightstone is a good idea at around 25-30 minutes if needed i personally play alot of tanky supports so sorry if the builds for the other two categories arent amazing but they are usually what i go with on those supports so i will say something else about these supports alistar and blitz as supports focus on getting kills in lane usually for their adc braum can also do this but he is a bit better at defending his adc soraka isnt very likely to help win lane but she is going to make sure you dont lose lane zilean is more focused on getting his adc out of bad situations and name is focused on well healing poking and cc so you can kinda do a lot with her, as for sona and karma they want to poke and zone the enemy bot lane away from farm and if they can, net their adcs some kills. hope this helps you!

~Blitzcrank Braum ~

Always item 3069 item 2045 item 3110 , boots depend on the jg AD item 3047 is AP is item 3111 always with Homeguard. After that it depends on the other teams make up. Generally pick 2 of the following, item 3742 item 3065 item 3102 item 3026 People will tell you to use item 3401 instead of item 3069 but I personally find the item 3069 to have more effective tools for my style of game play.

~Sona Soraka ~ Always item 3069 item 3110 item 2045 and item 3009 with Homeguard. Then two of the following item 3165 item 3285 item 3504 and item 3100 for Sona only. I try to maximize CDs and Mana Regen and movement.

Vision is priority for support so your first 800 should be to get a item 2049.

Beyond that it is going to change a lot depending on your support pick. I main Soraka and Sona so I'll give my take on them.

For Sona item 3303 item 2009 item 2009 item 2044 item 3340 start item 2049 item 3243 item 3050 then item 3504 or item 3060 next. You can buy the other one after. Then it is pretty flexible for last item. Don't forget to switch trinket for sweeper after you get SS. Do not upgrade item 3303 it is worthless to upgrade. instead swap it out if you find the game goes that long.

This build is to really suppliment her ability to add damage to her team. She becomes a damage support as she provides lots of extra damage to your team with the 50% crit to +20%ap and the +15% as and lots of extra magic damage on hit with censor and her Q.

For Soraka item 3301 item 2009 item 2043 item 3340 start if enemy duo is not a bully lane as you have so much sustain you will likely get a chance to place the pink and control a section of the bot lane. Otherwise start 2 item 2009 and item 2044.

Build order: item 2049 item 3096 item 3158 item 3069 item 3050 then item 3023 or item 3060 depnding if we need more peel/chase or lane pushing. Then I purchase the other item. I sometimes build item 3041 but only if we get a good lead in bot and the enemy team doesn't have the best tools to get to me when i am healing.

This build piroitized CDR to help soraka get to 40% cdr quickly so her healing hits it's power spikes quickly. getting a huge heal on a 1.6 second cd is crazy powerful. Talisman is her means of escape and she heals so often it is easy to proc Zeke frequently with her. Twin is great for helping her scope her area when warding so she doesn't get caught out and helps give some peel and makes it easier to land E root.

That's a serious variations of support you mention their. With a lot of them it really depends on what runes you have setup for them. First let's devide them in a fell groups:

  • CDR: Zilean, Karma, Soraka, Sona, Nami
  • Tank: Braum, Alistar
  • Agro: Blitzcrank

#Tips

  • Try to have item 1001 pre 10 minutes
  • Try to have item 2049 before all 3 inner turrets are down
  • When having spare gold use it for wards or potions
  • Use your pots while in combat
  • Build depending what your team needs (if vs dubble AP => item 3105, vs heavy AD item 3110, vs a lot of crit item 3143, etc...)
