PSA: Stop putting "Any Role" for the Bot lane in Team Builder

FantasySniper··9 votes·1,229 views

It makes no sense when the only two roles that ever exist there are "Marksman" and "Support".

Unless you want a bruiser bot lane, please don't waste everybody's time by having it as "Any Role", as Marksman/Support are being brought into games that already have a Marksman/Support.

That's the point of team builder, is having the option to go Bruiser bot if you wanted. You are missing the point of Team Builder and I entertain myself being amused at your confusing problem. It's like complaining milk has lactose in it. Don't drink milk?

^ this though... team builder is trying new things out. off meta things.. and dont get mad about it you aren't losing anything for it if you dont like it you dont have to play it.

A definitely needed PSA. Thank you!

The problem is that some people will queue as (for example) Sona/Mage/Bot or Leona/Tank/Bot rather than X/Support/Bot, and then you exclude those players if you don't search for "any". Being able to pick multiple categories would help with this.

No one does that, though. And to be honest, I wouldn't trust those that do.

Okay, then don't search for them and everyone's happy? I'm just pointing out that there's at least some reason to put "any role" rather than "support".

I've never seen anyone queue in as anything but Marksman or Support in the bot lane - even if they're going Rengar support or Yasuo ADC. It's just common sense to not waste people's time by doing "Any Role".

Why not? It states someone's intentions a little better. Tank Leona and Support Leona are mostly the same, but can have some differences.

But honestly, it's probably just more convenient to put "support" just to queue faster. Unless you really don't want a squishy support and want to find the few people who put down tank-bot-lane.

Like what? Both build tanky and focus on applying CC, the only difference would be a lack of Relic Shield, which is unadvisable if you're queueing into the duo lane.

It's still better to put in any role than it is to put "Any Role".

I haven't seen anyone do that unless they were already in a pre-built lobby, where your role name means nothing because you're already waiting there.

If a Sona queues in as Mage in the Bot lane, they either don't know what their role really is, or they're going to be pure APC - because you know, they did queue in as Mage, and not Support. With Tanks, it's less of a problem, because assuming they legitimately play like the champion's supposed to, they're doing it Support-like anyways.

tank and mage are used there often... alot of people pick thresh as tank braum as tank naut as tank.

Honestly, Bruiser bot is better than double Marksman bot. Double Marksman is a lot more common.

I once had a situation in Team Builder where my captain had put "Any Role" for the support position in the Team Builder queue, and proceeded to deny about a half dozen marksman players and having to wait about 5-10 minutes to find a support.

At the same time, some will put down their role in the bot lane specifically how they want to support, whether they want to build AP (for mage) or tanky (for tanks).
