Easy things that everyone can do to better their play

  1. Buy pink wards. Everyone should buy a pink on there first back and place it in there own jungle. Just somewhere, particularly somewhere you know that the enemy isn't going to usually be in the first 5-10 minutes of a game. Place it and you usually have a free ward for 10-15 minutes or more that will give you a heads up as to enemy invades or ganks. When I'm top, I put it in the tri brush or the brush near my tower/blue. Gives me or my jungler a nice heads up if the enemy jungler/mid is near. If I'm mid, its in the bush near blue by the river. Gives some vision of the river, but it won't usually get seen for 10-15 minutes. If I'm jungle, its in the brush by red. Bot can pink near blue/tri bush and in their own brush.

  2. Use your trinket wards more often. So many times I look at the map and see maybe 3-4 wards at the 10-15 minute mark until the end of the game. And 3 of them are from the support. You have a free ward. Always use it. Vision is soooooo important in increasing your skill.

  3. Don't counterpick unless its a champ your good with. If you suck at playing X champ, but it counters Y champ hard, don't play it because some pro said its a free win. Play the champs you are comfortable with.

  4. Don't blame or rage. Nothing is gained by this. Get something to punch by your computer if you really have rage issues

  5. Objectives>>>>Kills. This isn't CoD. nobody gives a fuck about your KDA. Its all about the Ws. Getting a tower or drag is way better than chasing for 30 seconds to grab 1 kill.

  6. Adjust your builds. Don't always build the same items in the same path that you always do. Adjust to what your opponent is building (AD/AP etc) or what your team needs. I don't know how many times my team has needed a J4/Lee Sin to start building tank to help out the front line but they continue to stack AD as we get rolled.

  7. If your behind, building defensively is better than offenses. If you fall back in lane and come back with a brutalizer, your opponent is still gonna beat you. Build defensively and farm what you can, don't overextend, just try to keep up in CS.

  8. CS>>Kills If you can't CS, practice. CS is possibly THE most important part of what sets apart lower elos from higher ones.

  9. And lastly, if you fall behind in lane, adjust you playstyle. If they killed you, chances are if you 1v1 them again looking to get back into lane, they are going to kill you again and widen the gap. Just CS and back off when they try to engage. If they blow CDs and your still in good shape, engage on them when their CDs are down. Other wise, just farm safely and wait for them to do something stupid or your jungler to gank.

Agree with all of this.

One of my rules is to have a plan for the lane, or if your jungling, when you would like to gank. Get a good idea of when you will want to try to fight/how long you will farm. Of course its going to change based on the enemy champion/their skill level. It easier to stick to your plan when in the jungle, becuase the only things that will mess it up are afks/invades/emergency ganks.

Honestly doing that has been helping me manage early game greed, and i think its helping me get better

Totes agree.

One thing you said: "...nobody gives a fuck about your KDA."

Let me extrapolate on that by saying those that do, or worse, troll you for your own (even if you win) are not just ignorant, but should be muted instantly without hesitation. Don't even let them say more, it's guaranteed to be unhelpful, at best. These people have no idea what they're talking about whatsoever and do not understand how the game works. The idea that they're actually on a team with four other people does not occur to them.

People who say "lol look at your KDA noob" can not tell the strategic difference between LoL and a first-person shooter, and so will troll their own team for it, lose horribly because they're hopelessly ignorant and destructive to their team, then cite someone else's KDA as inferior and hence that's why they lost and it was their team's fault and in no way their own.

Please feel free to mark these sorts of trolls for anything you want, as they do not belong in the game at all. Don't engage with them, and move on to the next game with some grace, understanding and accepting that it's an unfortunate part of the game.

i heard you can tell the difference between skill levels by the amount of pink wards on the map

good: 45 pink wards shit: 01 pink wards

I'd like something to be added to the last part. If you fall behind or die to your opponent around lvl 5 and they hit 6 because of the kill, there needs to be something said for that. Simply because if they beat you 1v1 before lvl 6, odds are they can do it and do it a bit safer once you get back into lane because of that simple lvl difference. I've been dived by Zeds who hit six because of a simple in lane mistake.

Sadly I'm not sure what type of advice could be added. I approve of everything here though.

Thanks for the tips! One question as I do not understand the jargon: What is CS?
