As a non-Cassiopeia main, I'm going to try and sum up the frustration of the Stashu remake

LupusNox··23 votes·2,196 views

I have never been a Cassiopeia main, but b4 the remake, I played her once in a while

However, since the remake, she is a joke, and heres why

She is: Squishy, immobile, skillshot dependent for her E, E dependent for damage. Her ult is her only defense and skilled players can stop it from affecting them. She has horrible ratios so her early game is terrible, she has to try and stack a passive that "balances out bad ratios" so she can stack AP. She has to spam E for 90% of her damage, but it can't be spammed unless she hits Q/W. Her kit is just a giant mess of constraints and contradictions. She gets blown up in 1/2 a second but has to be in 500 range to do damage. She has mana problems but has to spam in order to, again, stack passive.

In order for Cass to be good, she needs:

A new passive, one where 90% of her gameplay doesn't revolve around it. Damage spread throughout kit. E doing everything is just a terrible model that will cripple the champ. Range and consistency. She is squishy. Trying to get close in teamfights as an immobile squishy mage is a terrible idea. Good ratios. Again, she needs damage on more than just E and needs to be able to build different than just straight glass if she wants to participate in teamfights if she wants to be viable.

At least that just my opinion of whats wrong with her. Stashu will just continue to do w/e b/c his version is best

Yet another thread says this, and yet another thread ignored by Stashu.

It's a bit early for that, don't you think? I mean literally. It's well after regular business hours. He likely hasn't had TIME to ignore this thread, yet.

Seriously?

I understand that people are frustrated but this thread is unnecessary.. There are already a multitude of cass threads to share opinions..

Check the Red Tracker if you think Stashu's ignoring them- He's Not.

He may even respond to this one but there's nothing here that hasn't already been said so why should he?

Serpents Embrace5 votes

Dearest, he's posting in the threads but ignoring the content.

They vast majority of complaints are about the passive and the E-centered playstyle that he introduced. And yet every change proposed to PBE only cements sapping power from other abilities to put in to them.

He's responding, but he's not reading.

Fair enough then.. I guess i understand a bit better now so thanks for explaining.

I just think suggestions for a new passive or kit are more productive. Most if not all of the negative aspects have been reiterated and I think everyone's aware that the majority of cass players dislike the rework.

I may be alone but i also sympathize with stashu a bit - since he seems to get alot of hate in addition to the pressure of having to rework cass into something the players will love

Serpents Embrace3 votes

I would sympathize with him more if I'd been able to play my favorite champion in the last three months.

But I haven't, and he's given us the run-around and the over-arching theme of his posts are "I know better than you what she needs because you're just a bunch of children having a tantrum."

Range and consistency. She is squishy. Trying to get close in teamfights as an immobile squishy mage is a terrible idea

Ya i think this is the most relevant point. The whole concept of a close range squishy and sustained damage mage simply does not work in LoL.

LupusNox3 votes

Ya, i kinda forgot to add that even when she gets close enough to deal her damage, it isn't burst like most other mages. While she outdamages nearly everyone in the game after 3-4 seconds, your never going to live that long as a squishy low ranged mage who deals sustained damage rather than burst

What if riot wants us to build her as a tank? item 3111 item 3152 item 3065 item 3027 item 3083 item 3116 idk how to handle her mana doe... I miss her old passive :(

LupusNox5 votes

dat build would do 0 damage since her ratios are beyond horrible now.

thats only like 200 something AP and she only has about 1.8 combined AP ratios

TheKingDodo4 votes

Riot hates tanks, riot hates snakes, riot makes snake into tanks, then riot hates the snake tank. logic.

The point of this build is to survive in twin fang range, and sustain like mad until you get killed hopefully blowing their main damage spells and ignites, and allowing the rest of your team to mop up. it's honestly the best way to play her right now :L

Before the rework, a tanky Cassiopeia was actually viable in some situations.

Especially the combination of Spirit Visage and Will of the Ancients. It worked well with Ryliandry's, because that provided more health and non-AP based DOT.

However, her base damage and short cooldowns were paramount in making that viable. She now doesn't have the base damage to do it, instead relying on massive amount of AP to get yields from her now subpar ratios and she doesn't get the CDR she needs until 200 stacks. And building CDR on anything is a waste of gold because you essentially get max CDR from 200 stacks (post masteries/consumables).

Sums it up pretty well imo.

Damage spread throughout kit. E doing everything is just a terrible model that will cripple the champ.

Theoretically a champion relying on a single ability for a lion's share of his/her DPS isn't that big a problem. For instance, Lissandra and Draven are two example of champions whose damage comes primarily from their Q's (Draven might not count, but you get the idea).

The problem? IT'S HER DAMN E that Stashu chose to revolve the entire kit around. The blacksheep. The short-ranged POINT AND CLICK nuke that does nothing but just that, damage. The most boring and unsatisfying ability in her kit. The ability in her kit that doesn't belong on a Poison Mage when he easily could have put the focus on her Q or W instead.

THAT is the biggest problem. People have no problem with Lissandra theoretically having her DPS come mostly from her Q (I say theoretically, because in practice...she's kinda flawed). With Cassiopeia, the problem is her E.

Give the snake some love, riot. Maybe add a lifesteal mechanic on e - and not the shitty one that her passive gives. Keep the passive, make the q targeted, w is a little bigger, e is like, 30% spellvamp, then ult ALWAYS stuns, whether facing her or not.

Ok, I said buffs/rework, not make OP as fuck

targetted Q = absolute cancer lane bully status

You... more or less described the old Cass, you realize? The big change in the rework was the passive and how the abilities combined with eachother with other traits being mostly left alone. Her powercurve is also similar, though weaker early in some ways and spiralling out of control late. Most of the issues here are the combinations of mobility creep, item changes, and her old nerfs catching up to her.

For those that don't remember, Cass was gamebreakingly OP for a good bit of time.

For those that don't remember, Cass was gamebreakingly OP for a good bit of time.

You mean couple of months during Season 2 or during Scripting Season 3 where 90% of the people playing her used scripts? She has never been OP really, just a strong niche pick.

Anyways for the past 3 years, I personally haven't seen people complaining about Cass being somehow "too strong" or "OP" or a FOTM pick. -.-

It was more than a couple months in S2, her and brand were in my nightmares. Beyond the botters she also had a surge in popularity and still was abusive as ever. Not enough played her to get the QQ train going a second time, but it was reality.

Cassiopeia was literally never "abusive". Keep on drinking the Riot kool-aid on her, though.

Baculus1 votes

Not my fault if you weren't active then. Cass was the best mage in the game for an extended period of time, leading to quite a few nerfs. Mobility creep and other options made her less likely to be played and her play-rate has stayed low for a long time.

Part of why "Cass mains" doesn't make up any real number of players.

Dryditch1 votes

I love how all the Cass mains are complaining about single source damage now. It's not even about champion identity.

Meanwhile, Sion mains got a nice gift-wrapped pile of steaming shit to replace an awesome champion and no one bats an eye.

New Cass mains love her, old Cass mains are pissed, and there are enough of them that Riot is actually listening.

New Sion is shit, but there are too many idiots who think his kit is good and that he's so edgy grimdark cool now despite being literally the most visually and thematically boring champion in the game that there's no chance of him ever being made into an actually viable champion (aka old Sion but not nerfed to shit). And Riot is not listening at all to the fans of old Cass, an actually well designed champion. Stashu is hellbent on forcing his stupid fucking stack passive down people's throats.

Dryditch1 votes

As someone who never played Cass (new or old), she doesn't seem that horrible, kind of like an easier to stack Nasus Q.

I might actually pick her up sometime.

You're very right about Sion. He looks purty so no one's gonna complain about him being shit.

I'm just tired of seeing all the whining. We've all got shit to live with--like an Olafed Olaf, and an Olafed Sion, and an Olafed Cass.
