always have aegies on your team except against pure ad

support should always have it after upgrading thier gold generating item and sightstone. there is really no fucking excuse not to have the most broken item in the game.

please don't ask how we are losing fights 5 kills up when the enemy team built an aegies and we don't. by not building one you are costing your team 10 kills worth of stats.

literally half my losses in ranked are due to the enemy team building aegies while we don't.

It really depends if you should rush it after gold item or not. Im not going to rush it if theres only 1 AP carry on the map...unless they are fed and blowing people up.

Three major issues I have with this post.

  1. Supports are not the only champions on which Aegis (and eventually a locket) are a good pickup on. There are plenty of junglers and top laners that build it as well, and you should always check with them to make sure that you don't end up with more than one locket on the team. It's generally better that the engage tank be the one to build it since they're more centrally located in team fights than the support (Save engage tank supports like Leona or Alistar). Having more than one Aegis is wasteful as the aoe passive does not stack.

  2. While the stats from aegis are nice, it's more ideal to build it with the intention of using Locket of Iron Solari's active to mitigate aoe nuke damage from mages (Viktor Ult, Anivia ult, Cass, etc etc)

  3. I find it hard to believe that a single item causes you to lose that many games. Poorly executed team fights seems like the cause at a quick glance.

tl;dr Yes it is a nice item. No it is not the reason you lost.

That's true for other similar items too, and you can make a real case for other lanes picking some up in addition to the support, who has limited gold through much of the game. For a support that opens spellthief's for example it's going to be a while.

what if the only people that matter on their team are ad? for example its lets say a talon mid and a kalista adc with braum supp anaut jungle and a malphite top(granted this is actually a very terrible teamcomp and i dont see it getting picked outside of bronze/silver where i am currently) but this gives them a minimal amount of magic damage tbh and a large amount of physical damage from the mid and adc but thats just my thought process here because you dont need to be against a full ad comp to not need aegis i think

Why can't tanks? They benefit from health and MR just as much, not to mention some supports don't scale as well with health (example: Soraka). Hell, I even buy it on bruisers from time to time.

Idk...I got wins with Leona and I rarely build Aegis unless I see that the enemy has 3 or more AP champions OR an "about to be fed" AP enemy

This applies to tanky junglers or top laners as well. It's a really solid item to pickup if your support is building Mikaels or Zhonyas or something.

Dunno why you're getting downvotes OP. Aegis is one of the most efficient items in the game, it gives ranged squishies about 20% damage reduction from the Aura alone until they pick up some magic resist of their own. Not to mention the shield if you finish talisman, or you can be super annoying and use banner for split pushing. (Hilarious against AP tops like Rumble and Vlad).
