How to handle Xerath in lane?

Xer gives me a lot of trouble in lane, how should I deal with it? Aside from Zed it doesn't seem like I have many options... Xer has the mana sustain to outlast Lux and Ahri and such, maybe Velkoz?

vel koz works for me, possibly try kennen..no mana = greater sustain, and his zippidee doo dah "E" makes dodging skill shots a breezeKennen

Urgot is the answer to all problems.

Coming from a Xerath player (my main mid lane), it really comes down to just dodging stuff. And honestly, until Xerath gets Athene's (or at least Chalice), he does run into mana problems (he won't hit every skill shot), and to use his passive, he needs to move into harass range, so punish him for it. Also, he only really has one thing to protect himself from ganks, so if you see him use his stun (the ball), that's when you move in.

Annie has the safe farm and the burst to beat Xerath. Deal with his poke and play cautious, and you'll be able to deal more dmg in a shorter period of time, which done safely can out perform his greater dmg over a sustained period of time style.

his q is predictable and gives u vision of where it will shoot before it actually does hit. speed can help u get away in time

Your best bet is just early boots. Laning against Xerath is ALL about avoiding skillshots, that's it. He hits you he wins if he doesn't you can zone him while hes on CDs.

Since he's a immoible caster, someone with a gapcloser and that are a assasain would probably be a good pick. Pure speculation on my part.
