To keep him in line early game. No matter how you play him, his Q is an extremely powerful spell and Shaco himself has a pretty overloaded kit tbh, it's just one of the few overloaded kits that isn't overpowered. Late game his mana issues fall off since his Q goes down with ranks and of course his base mana goes up. Unfortunately his W and E go up with ranks, kind of a conflict in interests imo, but a necessary one.

Some tips to keep his mana under control:

  1. Buy mana potions. I've recently begun doing this on quite a few of the champions I play. It feels awful tbh since they only give 100 and I could be buying health potions that give 150 health for the same price, but it can be critical to surviving an otherwise lethal encounter.

  2. Stick an extra point in Q. Whether you're maxing E or W, stick an extra point into Q around level 8. At most you either lose .25 seconds of fear and some damage on W or a slight increase in blind chance/slow/damage on E. In exchange you get a lower mana cost on Q and extra damage from it.

  3. Masteries. You'd be surprised how good the Feast mastery is. If you're really struggling try some points in expanded mind.

  4. Conserving spells. Ideally as Shaco you should be setting up traps everywhere you feel necessary to cut off your enemy's escape routes and other vital spots. Unfortunately spells cost mana so you can't always do that. Your best bet is to only use spells that are necessary. In lane, only use E to trade when the enemy tries to trade with your or engages on you. Only use Q to escape or close gaps. In the jungle try to limit your use of Q to engaging instead of using it haphazardly to quickly get through your jungle or theirs. E gives you unseen clear power without using it, so don't feel like you have to use it every time it's up when clearing.

  5. Finally items. On AD Shaco I don't build any mana or mana sustain at all aside from an early machete and some mana pots, but when I play AP Shaco my first item is always morellonomicon and I typically start with crystalline flask.

Hope I've helped even if it's just a little.

Because shaco is so strong early that you killing someone has less to do with you being good and more to do with your champion. Shaco is mana hungry to prevent you from easily walking around and winning every lane for free.

I generally take their blue buff at level two. That usually solves my early mana problems.

I was in the same spot as u when I first started shaco jg. You are probably using ur q a lot to go from camp to camp bypassing walls and that costs a lot of mana, another thing if ur ad shaco u mostly rely on autos so u shouldnt need to use so much mana later and ur e doesnt use too much neither does w
