PSA: If you're calling support in chat, say "supp" instead of "sup"
"Sup" can also be a greeting, so it leaves people unsure whether you're calling support or not. Adding the second p at the end makes sure that no one will misunderstand you.

No no no, you can't just say "supp" or else people will think you're going afk to eat a meal. Of course, you can't just say "support" either, because there's always the chance you could be looking for League Support and got horribly off track. Then again, you can't say "support role" because that doesn't specify what position you'll be supporting. Although, stating "marksman support role" could be confusing as well if someone takes a second marksman champion to another role other than bot lane.
In summation, if you want the support position, it's best to say: "Dear fellows and/or ladies. I am writing to you in the course of events to announce my preference for the role I would like to participate as in the match that will begin shortly. I would like you all to acknowledge that I have announced my endorsement of myself as the bottom lane marksman support role. If there is any questions or oppositions to this endorsement, I would ask that you voice your opinion in the chat box shortly after this message is posted so that the acts of debate and compromise can be started. This is to facilitate rapid and cohesive communication between myself and you, my teammates, for the express purpose of deciding our roles in the aforementioned match. When in the course of events that it becomes necessary to decide the roles we play, the utmost caution should be taken to maximize our combat effectiveness, and ergo our chances of victory. Adherence to this system is critical if we are to form the most powerful team possible; as such I expect your full cooperation in this endeavor."
When I first started playing the game and I didn't know the meta, whenever someone said "sup", I thought they were just saying hi... ._.
Pfft.
I always call "sup", and have never had a problem with it.
Except for that game someone instalocked Leona afterwards and tried to convince her team that "sup" was in fact short for "top support". You can't argue with that kind of crazy no matter what you do, though.
Lets be honest with ourselves. Nobody ever calls support. ;p
Why do The Supports Have to type an Extra Letter? No one else has too... Unless you find a reason saying ADC, Top, Mid, and Jg are unacceptable.
I'm basically a support main and every time someone calls "sup" I respond with "Not much, sup with you?"
People are THAT dumb?
Agreed lol. I take an extra step and make sure to say "supp plz/pref", so that even if they could confuse "supp" for "what's up" still, they can't confuse the "plz/pref".
I usually type out "support", and if someone beats me to it, NBD, I can play another role. How often does that happen, anyway? XD
I've only had one person mistake "sup" for a greeting.
And they were generally idiotic throughout the entirety of the game.
People thinking 'sup' is a greeting hasn't happened to me since level 12.
I see my "nmu?" goofy replies are getting to someone...sorry man! :P
I just say "# poorlyfe"
Almost everyone will understand you're calling a role if you say "sup". This isn't necessary.
Even though I type "supp" every time I wanna support, my team still doesn't listen.
And it's all because I enjoy going Nasus support with TP so that I can have global pressure after laning phase.
I could pick Nasus literally one second after calling support, and then someone blurts out "DUDE, I GOT TOP!!1!"
Do some players just not pay attention to the pre-match chat?
Yeah I make that mistake sometimes, people say "sup" and I'm like "nm you?" lol I'm not even trying to be funny when I say it. People don't call it often.
ive also noticed that people call adc and expect bot lane, is that normal? does adc always go bot? im obviously new. lol.
p.s. made a vid, support it, k? <3 its always hard to start out a channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NfQuqIIrdw
I respond with "not much, how about you?" every time I can. Sadly the joke go's way over peoples heads most of the time.
