I'm tired of hearing Silver V call Bronze I stuff like Bronze Trash you can't even carry. Some people are actually really good at low elos, very few, and extremely rare, but I've seen a couple, and I can tell you now they don't deserve anywhere close to Silver. They deserve much higher.

I got dc'd from my provisionals 4 times, and I finally got my internet issues solved, and lost the other 2 games, but I won the other 4 games. So technically if I win 2 games for 1 loss then I shouldn't have lost 6 games. I should have only lost 3.

Nobody listened to them because they're Silver, and obviously not good, because rank=skill, and they can't tell us what to do. Now how do you see the situation?
aaronautumn4 votesyour scenario doesn't account for the fact that where you are placed is dependent on your wins vs your losses. people don't just randomly get placed in silver. don't misunderstand me, I am not saying that people at lower rankings don't have good ideas and that their opinions should be disregarded. all I am arguing here is that you are wrong about skill not being based off rank. if someone plays at a platinum level, then with enough games they should make it to platinum. if your definition of skill merely refers to mechanical skill like farming or landing skillshots, then you're right, there are a lot of skilled players in silver. truth is, however, being able to farm or play a complex champion is not enough. victory is achieved through: strategy, communication, use of vision, and more. When I was silver at the beginning of season 2 I often saw players who were great at the champions they played but made terrible decisions: if they were ahead they would chase enemies across the map to acquire as many kills as they could but they would ignore other major objectives, they wouldn't use their advantage to snowball allied lanes, they would make awful baron calls that either resulted in us getting aced or it being stolen and the enemies being able to extend the game long enough that they caught up in gold and our advantage was lost.
winning a game requires more than just being able to effectively play a given champion, it requires making the most out of what you have.

aaronautumn1 votesYes, though depending on your luck it might take a lot of games. It took me half of season three to get from silver to gold but less than a month to go from gold to plat. I don't know if that was because I got better as the season went on or if climbing takes a while at the starting gate but I do know this: the more games you consistently win, the more LP you gain per match. Once you can start winning more than you lose and even getting long win streaks, you will find yourself moving up in ranks faster until you finally reach the threshold that is your skill level. Don't expect to reach your true ranking right away, it takes a lot of games. I remember having an easy time getting 100 LP but yet I could never pull off promotion series, the game expects you to win 2/3 of your league promo games (66% win rate) and 3/5 (60%) for tier promo games. Let's say someone is capable of playing at plat level but lost most of their placement games and ended up in silver or bronze. Over the course of, let's say, 1000 games, they probably wouldn't have a problem getting a 60% win rate assuming they're consistently playing against and with bronze level players. Promo games are a different story because each match counts as 1/3 if league or 1/5 if a tier game. Compare this to flipping a coin: if you flip it 1000 times, you'll be very close to 500 heads and 500 tails. If you only flip it 5 times, 0/5 heads or 5/5 heads wouldn't be that strange, the odds of 100% or 0% heads goes down as you flip it more times. The more games you play, the closer you will be to your true ranking.

When I first started ranked I was Silver 3, and even I knew I didn't deserve it then, because I was shit, and I was placed with low gold, and now that I have improved I'm beating Platinums. When they ask what rank I am I proudly tell them Bronze, because then they know that I have actually improved at the game, and even though they see my rank is Silver they know I have much more potential than that.
Azukus1 votesI'd say Silver II and below there's no distinct difference in skill. First of all, it's USUALLY the Silvers that got to Silver through provisionals (the ones that never had to climb out of Bronze) that mock Bronzies. (Even though it's usually the ones who got Silver through provisionals that are weaker than Bronzies LOL).
For example, if you looked at my champ performance up on Lolskill, it's better than that of most Silvers, lol.
Bronze has the people who do not know how to play and such. Silver has the arrogance.
My rank may say bronze; however, when it comes to knowledge, mechanics, decisions, and situational skills, I am at least low silver (which is not something to brag about at all. LOL).

Today I got called bad by some Silver IV BEFORE the game even started, and then my support said they were gonna troll, and I ended up going 9/2 in lane as Jayce, because I was forced into that lane even though my plan was going mid. I know I'm not better than some Platinums, and even some gold/silver, but what I do know is that I'm better than a lot of Gold/Plat too.

I thought I was a plat player being held back by feeders, trolls and surrender spammers in gold 1/2. Lost every plat promo I got to.
I now realize, I'm simply too bad to realize what separates a plat player from a gold player. I carried out of silver easily, and that made me realize what separated a gold and a silver. Now I need to know what separates a plat and a gold.
I watch friends play bronze/silver/low gold games. TBH there is no distinction between bronze 1 and gold 5 for me. I think "MAN WHY??!!!" so many times when I see a play that either seals their defeat or throws a huge advantage. There are so many wtf strategy moments I see in bronze-silver. That's not even talking mechanics; the mechanics of some silvers can beat mine, but they don't know what to do with those mechanics. They aren't actually good, they are just good at snowballing in lane. I won a game where my ADC fed 2 kills before 5 minutes, as support, just because I realized how terribad the enemy team was (their ADC was low gold, our bot lane was high gold) and baited them into 1v3s, 2v5s and collapse on them as they ward, dragon, etc. It was incredible how my team went from losing 3-17 to winning the game, simply because we realized how absolutely terrible the enemy team was, and the only reason they were winning was due to snowballing from an early FB.

Big Hans1 votesIm currently in high gold and when a diamond player doing their provisionals ends up in one of my games it just shows how much plat players and below dont know about the game. The diamond players make it look like they are playing carelesly and even doing stupid plays but their mechanical skill is simply so good that they keep coming out on top. The plat players look like level 2s playing their first games in comparison.
When I was demoted to silver after my own provisionals I felt like a god for a short while because people are simply that much worse. If you truly belong in a higher divison it will show in every game regardless of how your team is doing.
