Except for each Rock, Paper, and Scissors there is a better version of it. Super Rock, Super Paper, and Super Scissors. Why the fuck would I pick Rock, Paper, or Scissors when there is literally a better version of all of them?

Heimer has almost zero good matchups, and (in the right hands) almost every champion in the game can be a hard counter.

his ult with three options is the reason why heimer can compete, you can pick whether you want to initiate, obliterate one target, or put down what amounts to another adc in a teamfight. all of course while keeping in consideration that you keep a small facet of every part of that regardless of what you choose. you still chunk even if you chose to initiate, and you still have your small zone turrets as well.
heimer also has better objective control than azir, turrets hitting towers and staying up like your do is a good thing. it's just that those strengths are looked over and not utilized, and heimer is weak to characters that go in and go out fast, which there is an overabundance of.

Rock can tear through paper but if you drop a boulder on a piece of paper, it doesn't tear it. All it does is land on it. You can later raise the boulder and the paper might be scratched but it's still fine. Also, paper folds over a rock, making it useless and a lot more harmless.

Malzahar can't solo Rift Herald (which got a massive buff in 6.9) due to the way the Herald's patience meter works.
Now, Nunu generally can't solo it either (Herald fucking HURTS now) but he can take it much earlier with his top laner.

Right then- if that's so simple
Pick the best one. No no- don't just say "The pros pick this one" tell me which one is the "better version" and why.
You can't, because they all bring different things.
Tons of AoE CC? Ashe.
Long range and zoning? Caitlyn.
Longer range and a lot of damage? Jhin.
Excellent waveclear and team mobility boost? Sivir.
Upfront burst and a reset-able dash? Lucian.
Poke and slipperiness? Ezreal.
True damage to mess up anyone late-game? Vayne.
and so on. There is no "super scissors". Riot is working to make every champion distinct, surprise, that takes a lot of time.
Also because, I don't know, you might like the individual champion? I main Malzahar, Nami, and Lux- all of which have been referred to as "sub-par" at times. I main them because I like Malzahar's ability to lock one person down and destroy them. I like Nami because I enjoy the bouncing water and playing around it. I like Lux because I love the idea of an armored mage running around in the thick of combat (Not how Lux is meant to be used but I make it work). League is more than just the competitive scene you know- some people play for fun.
