Help with the climb

I have a huge aversion to playing ranked without a duo partner. I seem to have a lot of bad luck with toxic teams and I feel like I at least have a chance if at least one of my teammates is communicating with me. The problem is that since all I do is duo I only get a couple ranked games in per week max and I feel like that really inhibits my ability to climb.

It seems like a lot of people only play ranked in league and I wanted to know how often people solo vs duo Q. Have you noticed any significant difference in your win rate between solo and duo Q? Is it better to just bite the bullet and spam games to grind out LP or should I be more cautious with when I play ranked? If anyone has any other tips/advice to deal with this problem it is greatly appreciated.

If possible, play some matches in Solo Queue and then some in Duo Queue. If, in one of the queues, you are consistently performing better, stick at it. More importantly, if there is a champion that you can play very well, carry with, and will never let you down, play them as much as possible. While you should be adept with all roles, it's always good to get the one you will excel in and ultimately achieve victory with.

I was always under the impression that the system bases the MMR that you are going up against is based off of whether you are solo or duo. I thought that the current system places a duo queue against stronger opponents because it assumes that you carry a synergy with your partner. If this is the case, you would have a much harder time climbing if you are using the duo queue, I would think. Solo queue is based completely off of your skill and your match history, so your matchmaking will not be nearly as weighted against you.
