@RIOT HELP! Player told me he was going to commit suicide

and I believe him. I really, really believe him. He seemed very depressed and intent on taking his own life. I tried talking him out of it but I was unable to and he told me "bye" and since then I he hasn't responded to my messages. Obviously I don't know this person in real life so I have no idea which police station to call or what his real name is. Riot does have that information. This needs to be taken seriously and the local authorities need to be contacted. I submitted a support ticket (#21407443) where I included the full chat logs. Time is of the essence. Any Rioter on these boards please help.

There's no need to bump this discussion. The OP has already done what they should by submitting a ticket to Player Support. Player Support has procedures to follow for that type of ticket and will handle it appropriately in regards to the threat.

Certain issues may be escalated if they're time sensitive/urgent, like this one. In which case, Riot looks at the information and takes action when appropriate in a very timely manner.

Player Support is active 7 days a week! (not sure about holidays, though)

My best friend has been sending me messages in game and in client about how he is planning to commit suicide, and probably will (since i broke up with him a couple weeks ago and he is bipolar but no on meds atm). But the police can't do anything without hard evidence. Me just telling them he is going to kill himself isn't enough, especially since I live on the other side of the country. Is there anyway you can use the chat logs to get him help? At all? I am so scared he is going to die soon, especially since he has attempted it before, almost successfully before ending up in a shrink for 3 months. ;_;

He is still my best friend. I'm desperate.

You'll need to submit a ticket with this info. I can't do anything as I'm a Boards Moderator and have no access to in-client information.

Best you distance yourself from this ASAP. You already did more than 99.9% of people by talking to him and the more you follow this the more guilty you will feel should something happen, it may haunt you for a very long time and I doubt he wants to hurt anyone with his actions.

I had a friend that got permanently suspended he then made a suicidal letter on this forum. The police arrived the next day to his house. It was too late.I hope this isn't the case here.

These boards can't really help with that. We can discuss behavior or why a behavior happened, but no one here has the power to help beyond that extent. Rioters don't frequent these boards, so submitting a ticket is already the best you can do.

Just be sure not to update the ticket until you get a response, as that will bump it to the back of the queue.

I'm just hoping that a random Rioter see this and can start getting the ball rolling. Its a long shot but its better than doing nothing. Every second matters with this kind of stuff.

You are an amazing friend for doing this for them <3 I truely respect that, and seeing all these posts about similar cases, while sad, is showing me that people would be going to the extent to get external help for people who are in the need of it.

My best friend has been planning to commit suicide the last couple weeks since I broke up with him. I already called the police and the suicide hotline twice and apparently they can't do anything in arizona. They can't even force entry into his apartment if he does not open the door. He is bipolar and has been refusing to get his meds and has tried to commit suicide before when his first girlfriend died (almost sucessfully if a friend hadn't found him). I live all the way in MA so I can't do anything.

The police and the suicide crisis people are literally just going to go and let him die. I never felt so bad in my life. Me breaking up with him may have just cost him his life.

People that cannot mentally take care of themselves and are in dire need of help are in no position to be in a relationship. Long distance relationships have a high failure rate and you shouldn't have to commit to someone that would be so destructive over negative emotions.

It isn't your fault no matter what happens. If they were truly acting as your friend right now, they would take care of themselves. They should not hurt you like that. But you can't change them.
