Looking to Improve? Check out my Channel!
How's it going guys! I'm a former diamond level Starcraft II player who recently started playing League of Legends seriously. In Starcraft II not only was I a diamond player but I also played random, something that very few people were able to do at a diamond level. The reason why I was able to play at such a high level was not because I had amazing mechanics or perfect builds. The reason why I was successful was because I was very good at analyzing my play and analyzing other people's play. I would study the pros and mimic their strategies and I would watch every game I played to learn from my mistakes.
When I started playing ranked games in League things went horribly. Every game it seemed like I had an AFKer or a feeder or someone who raged endlessly at our team. I slogged through my promos and got placed in Bronze 1, something I was rather pissed off about. Instead of taking a step back and figuring out what I was doing wrong I just spammed ranked games. Every time I lost I would think to myself "If only my team was as better we would have won." Less than a month later I was sitting at 0 LP in Bronze 4. It was at this point that I had a eureka moment. I wasn't doing any of the things in League that had made me successful in Starcraft II. I wasn't studying the pros or watching my replays to learn from my mistakes. I wasn't putting in the effort so why was I expecting the same result? I DESERVED TO BE EXACTLY WHERE I WAS.
I started watching my replays and watching LCS and things began to improve. I beat out a lot of junglers better than me to get on a team of gold, plat and diamond players. After a couple months my team even made me team captain and shot caller. I saw my win percentage in ranked rise to 65% and my KDA doubled from 2 to 4.
My team asked me how I was improving so quickly and I told them that my secret was watching my replays. They thought it was such a good idea that they asked me to start casting our games. I initially figured I would just add commentary to the casting to be a starting point of discussion for my team. I expected that our higher ranked players would point out where my commentary was wrong but to my surprise they all told me that my commentary was very insightful and, more importantly, correct.
In my videos I focus on big picture strategy and I break down every trade and team fight. Instead of just splicing together videos showing my team dominate I show you the good, bad and ugly, dissecting games in their entirety so you can see how to snowball early leads or recover from mistakes. I also focus on certain tips and tactics in each of my videos that you can implement into your own gameplay for immediate results.
I'm still at the beginning of this journey but I invite you all to come join me and check out my videos. And even if you don't check out my videos I hope that this post inspires all of you to start watching your own replays.
