Malzahar's W takes a % of HP off, and Liandries does the same...so wouldn't they shred through HP equally, no matter how squishy or tanky you were? If this is the case, why do I hear that Malz isn't any good for the "tank meta"? Isn't % damage king?
I've just recently been using him and have found him incredibly fun. Those ults lead to hilarious playmaking assists.
the problem with malz isnt his damage. It is just that he has waaay too much counterplay. Malz imo is the poor mans zed.
Yes, they stack. In fact that combination of items is what makes malz one of the best mages for taking down dragon in the mid game and dragon/baron in the late-game.
If someone said malz isn't good for the tank meta, they are flat out wrong. Malz has %hp damage, plus massive ap ratios, and a way to stop anyone (that isn't olaf or poppy) from diving the backline (his ult). Times like this is when Malzahar and Brand really shine.

Malz and Brand are teh best Tank Shredder's in the game. Both have massive MAX %HP shreds and solid teamfighting. Malz has his AoE silence, Brand has his W+E+R combo.
