Malzahar's W takes a % of HP off, and Liandries does the same...so wouldn't they shred through HP equally, no matter how squishy or tanky you were? If this is the case, why do I hear that Malz isn't any good for the "tank meta"? Isn't % damage king?
I've just recently been using him and have found him incredibly fun. Those ults lead to hilarious playmaking assists.

If someone said malz isn't good for the tank meta, they are flat out wrong. Malz has %hp damage, plus massive ap ratios, and a way to stop anyone (that isn't olaf or poppy) from diving the backline (his ult). Times like this is when Malzahar and Brand really shine.

Actually it's his voidlings that make him amazing at taking down dragon, because he can just tank most of the damage himself and the dragon won't touch the voidlings. And then when they are about to expire he can back off so they take a couple hits.
Voidlings do TONS of damage when they fully grow.
