It's only a problem when fill essentially means support.....I'm fine with supporting, I'm not fine with doing it every single game I select fill anywhere.
In a perfect world fill would be "random".....and if it truly was I'd pick it all the time.

Indeed, mid lane isn't easy at all - in fact I feel more stressed @ mid than other roles - yet most people don't realize it.
To them, mid is best farm spot since you can get back to lane fast, you only need to deal with one laner, you're most likely facing a squishy opponent, you're relatively far from fog of war/bushes and close to your own turret, you'll outlevel everyone else on your team, you can roam wherever you want, etc. Most of them tend to neglect the fact that since they're given the most comfortable&resourceful lane, they're expected to win lane and have global presence - aspects I'm lacking and need to work on.
However, it is understandable for ppl in normals to demand mid. Chances are they don't care about winning and are just there to grab quick power boosts, have some fun yolo'ing around, then ff @20 to move on to next game.

EX Top prefered, anything but support. EX2 Anything but top + anything but support would mean middle, adc, jg.
This would open up so many options and make queue times even faster. I'm afraid to pick fill because I'm a terrible ADC. If there was an "Anything but" option there wouldn't be these trolls and I would be able to fill 2 more roles.

This shitty mentality that support role sucks is what cause most of the problem, because people keep blabbling "eh support non skill role last pick noob go play support". Support is as good as any other role, if not at times can be even more enjoyable than other roles
MorganKaines5 votesPeople who think it's easy are usually not very good at it. They don't secure vision, they don't harass/poke well, they build full damage and 1vs2 people, often pays no attention to pings or the minimap, etc.
There's a lot involved with being a good support. I've mained support since I started playing this game, and yet a year after I am still just "decent for my ELO" in terms of being a skilled support. So yeah, if people think playing support is an easy lazy role then they're not putting any effort into it.

Actually..... you'd be surprised. Support main, yet somehow I only get support about 50% of the time. A lot of times, the "support" claims it was their secondary choice or fill. There seems to be no significance between primary and secondary choice.
EDIT: I was also in a queue the other day. I chose support/top, my partner chose top/support (trying to secure our roles). I got top, they got support. (o_O)

You'd think so, but I think Riot is sort of messing with people. I main support (yes even in ranked. I'm a crazy person I know), and I've mostly tested the system on my other account (didn't want to bother raising/lowering my mmr, however bad it might be, before this coming week's reset), and 9 out of 10 times (yes I tested it 10 times exactly for reference) when I picked support as my preferred, I didn't get it. As in, picking support as preferred 10 times, I only got it once out of 10 times, picking either top or mid as my secondary.
When I switched to support as my secondary however, I have yet to NOT get support in every game I had it as secondary (maybe 6 games?).
That tells me something's clearly wrong with the way the system is coded, or Riot is severely trolling me. I was under the impression (since Riot said as much) that your primary is supposed to be looked for FIRST, but that doesn't seem to be the case. If that were the case, then I would think out of 10 games picking support as my most wanted role, I wouldn't only get it once <_< over the two, by far, most popular roles.

StickyDice3 votesIdk i think this system is very very efficient and good in variable ways ofcourse there are some people that have to dick around like banning your champ or trying other sh*t out but the fact is you will most likely get wich lane you want with the champ you most likely play good with. So stop complaining about the new champ select and act like a stubborn kid and learn to adapt. (Riot puts alot of work in these things to make it better/fun for us to play this game some recordnision would be on it's place.)

I think that there needs to be an option for marksman(ADC), and if you pick bot you need to be ready to play support or ADC.

biggnig692 votesOkay so as a player who likes to round the bases in roles I typically choose fill either as primary or secondary depending on how I feel. The problem with that is that when you fill sup is always the least wanted position. One day I went fill primary 4 times in a row, and, and when i got tired of sup I went Top Primary with fill Secondary and got 3 MORE consecutive sup games totaling 7 in a row had I not changed roles with some very generous teammates. I get that fill is supposed to plug the holes in a team comp but some of us choose fill because we want a variety of roles when we play. I get that you can counter this by choosing actual roles, but there's another problem. I don't really care where I go enough to actually choose a role. I don't mind sup every couple of games but I don't want to become a sup main by choosing fill every game.

PyramidSwim2 votesIn defense of these people, I will say we aren't used to fill meaning locking into a random role, strange as that may sound. People of flexibility would often say something like "I can fill but x is my worst role." Now that they could randomly be assigned x they're realizing the flaws of the new system. I had support as my secondary but soon realized that meant I was support every game. I switched to fill and I can randomly get my worst role, jungle. I just want to go back to working roles out in champ select.
