Lesser Known Tips.

This will be a thread to sort of archive the less obvious tips and tricks, especially for the players who aren't necessarily noobs but have got a ways to go before becoming better than most.

  1. After getting a kill, quickly scan your minimap for enemies. If you see 4 enemies on the board and know they cannot global, teleport, or reach you in 8 seconds, you are free to recall without wasting time retreating to your turret to recall. In addition, if you see all 4 enemies you are free to shove your minions into the enemy turret before recalling.

  2. It may be a bit of a distraction but remember to abuse passives on items. On spellthief, try to poke an enemy champion for some cash money, even if it's a tank and your damage goes unnoticed, you gain money. On tear, spam untargeted abilities if you know you can regen the mana before you will need it.

  3. This is seriously disappointing to me because so few people use this even in ranked. Minions are dangerous in early laning phase, especially top lane where you often have melee champions chasing each other in the center of a minion fight. Kite around your own minions and take note of how many enemy minions are attacking you. In a match where your lane enemy is on par with you, a minion or two can grant a kill.

  4. Know when to accept your death. If you know you're going to die, don't waste your ultimate, potions, and summoner spells if you can't secure a kill or escape. This is a tough one and it's better to be safe than sorry if you can't determine if you can survive or not, but if you know you can't, just don't waste everything and lower your chance to make a come-back. The same goes for chasing. If you know you and your allies have an abysmal chance to secure a kill, don't tower dive and get yourself killed. Don't waste ignite on a half health enemy that will get away before being brought to a lethal health range for ignite to kill. Etc etc etc.

  5. Auto attack animation speed and missile speed is extremely important for last hitting. If you have a horrendously slow attack animation like Annie, you'll attack the minion slightly before your minions put it into death range. If you have a slow missile speed (like Annie yet again), get closer to the minion if possible, or take this into account and attack even earlier.

  6. Time is valuable. Don't waste time in the shop, raging at allies or enemies, or trying to get a kill you won't secure. This is especially true for junglers who become useless while underleveled. Enemy not overextending? Don't gank them, go clear some more camps or focus a different lane no matter the lane you can't gank needs your help. Focusing one lane as a jungler is counterproductive. Gank any lane that is overextended and you are confident in securing a kill. Helping other lanes is the best way to counteract a lost lane if you can't do anything about that particular lane.

*) Don't overestimate channeled abilities. Yes Nunu has one of the most powerful ultimates in the game, but if you manage to full charge it, you have done no auto attacks or abilities during this time and your enemies would have escaped if they're smart. Less of a tip more of an "I'm tired of everyone pretending Nunu has amazing AP ratios".

Feel free to add your own tips and tricks.

Early laning phase, even your AP Champion's autoattacks make a difference. If you can weave in a AA before your Q, it will increase your poke damage.

You can use Teleport on an ally Thresh Lantern/J4 Flag/Teemo Shroom/Elise Spiderling/Voidling

Bushes can be used to break minion Aggro in Melee vs Ranged lanes

You can still activate the second part of Death Sentence even if the enemy Morgana Shield the first part of the effect allowing you to travel further if the target walks away

Some Champions abilities can be combo'ed fast enough to where all skills are played without frame delays

With Fiora, if you can time time correctly, you can preform your Q+aa+Q+aa combo faster if you cast Q right after you aa

Even though "there is no orbwalking in League" you can follow enemies better if you move along their path after every autoattack instead of relying on your champ closing the gap automatically, because they will wait for the wind down animation to end before following. So even when not playing Kalista: Attack, move, attack, move, attack, move. Especially with someone like Skarner.

Know when to retreat and when to kill. In some cases retreating will only allow your chaser to kite you safely. If you know you can't escape, make it an even trade and kill them.
