You need to be able to land your bubble consistently. Your E is great for harass and making your bubble easier to land; you benefit more from maxing it 2nd after your ebb and flow rather than maxing your q second. Your e is great on your ADC (duh) because it speeds them up while slowing their target, good for catching people out, but hope they don't overextend. When you ult in a team fight, you can maximize your effectiveness by standing behind your team, so they are sped up by your passive, and you should not be on the front of your team anyway because you are squishy.
In lane, use your ebb and flow to harass- a lot of the time (if you don't position poorly) you can w your enemy and heal back their harass if you stay in range. Your w costs a lot of mana, so to get the most out of it, make sure it bounces to at least two people if at all possible. Also, if you cast your ebb and flow on your ally, it will travel farther than it would if you cast it on a foe first.
Remember to use your item actives, your frost queen's claim active can slow a person enough for them to be caught out by your stun/ e combo, and will probably burn a flash if it is up. Also remember to swap out your warding totem for your sweeper after you get your ss and make sure you have your one pink on the map if you have the inventory space. Always try to sweep dragon and maintain vision control, but do not try to ward at a bad time/ leave your adc in lane alone at a bad time. Also, when you go in to harass, make sure you aren't over extending past where your creeps are, as you'll take aggro from the enemy creeps, and make yourself vulnerable to skill shots. Since Nami is squishy, you have be positioned well.
and
are always needed. At full build, upgrade your ss but don't rush the ruby ss upgrade since 400 extra hp is not worth it early game. I kind of like getting
for spamming your w more with a bit of a stronger heal too.
Be open to advice, regardless of someone's elo; if you are asking for advice and a person answers, keep an open mind, you'll benefit more. If you don't know much about a champion, don't turn down the advice of a person who knows that champ better than you, regardless of rank.
Nami is a champion that back in my silver days my diamond friends would say I play better than diamond players. So, it's still worth checking out other Nami players' advice, even if they are in silver and even with a grain of salt. Anyway, my friends used to point this out to me because of my ability to land her Q. A simple method to land Q's in lane is to watch when your own creeps get low in health and the enemy ADC starts to move in to lasthit them. That's when you throw your bubble at the enemy ADC because they won't be ready to dodge. (Though, as I've begun experiencing in high gold and above, ADC's start sacrificing the occasional CS to avoid your bubble).
Nami is a support who can play very aggressively with little threat of being punished for such aggression. So, you can often stay in an aggressive stance near the front line of your minion wave to throw out your Q whenever the opportunity presents itself. However, you still need to ward to protect yourself from ganks and maintain your stance. Also, do not extend far past your minion line (as you should on almost any support other than Blitzcrank).
Another tip for landing Q's, particularly in teamfights: save your Q before ulting. It is easier to ult, then Q an area of targets knocked up by your ult to chain your Q's cc with your ult's cc on multiple/high priority targets.
Lastly, if you get your ADC fed, and there are members of the enemy team diving onto your ADC, then peel for your ADC. It is better to peel for your fed ADC than to keep going aggressive on the underfed member(s) of the enemy team.
EDIT: unswlolsoc's videos provide good information about stances/positioning and using abilities to harass/engage while the enemy is moving in to CS. (The extensive Ahri guide mentions this in particular, but I think it is also mentioned in the support guides too).
Ya, because only Golds know how to play Nami...
