Should I continue to main top,or should i switch roles?

Last season,when i was rock bottom bronze 5 i improved my play and started to move up,up to silver 3. At that time,a friend's team needed a top lane for a tournament,so i played it and it became my main then. The season ended there and i knew that i was better than my opponents(there and then). I noticed that even though i'm winning(my lane at least),the top lane has little or no influence on how the game goes, in the form of buffs and roaming. I also noticed that ranged mages/assassins/marksmen who know what they are doing are near impossible to shut down when big. So should i switch roles,or continue to live on this island? I'm thinking of going to the mid lane since it has an epic roaming potential,but in my current elo mid is usually the first role taken and support the last.
