There are a lot of extremely effective counters that aren't listed in fansites as counters to particular champions because they aren't used in that lane. For example, Kalista can kite Tryndamere endlessly without being touched. She never turns her back to Trynd so she cannot even be slowed. Several other ranged champions (notably Ashe) can kite popular top laners and harass them all game. A good Annie doesn't really have a hard counter but a bruiser Zyra build with a bit of MR can completely deny her any kills while having high kill potential herself.

Post any of the less obvious or unlisted counters to champions that are effective but unkown.

Master Yi (jungle or otherwise) will crush Nasus in a duel later in the game, so Nasus can't splitpush to apply pressure. Considering Master Yi can easily run Smite + Teleport, it makes it pretty easy to handle him outside of teamfights (in which Nasus can be kited).

Lulu can make the lives of assassins (especially Akali) horrible.

Trundle, Kog'maw, and Malzahar are great for killing tanks.

Brand's passive vs tanks helps too... it's just harder to hit cause of the unreliability of the skillshots (as opposed to W+E+ign+R).

I've found Karma is a fairly effective Riven counter. Honestly Karma is my favorite champion, but I realize she's very lacking. Her scaling isn't high enough but her bases and cc don't make up for that. However, look at her kit. She is a full blown Riven counter. She can bully Riven with her auto attacks all day. If Riven goes in for an attack, Q for a slow and tether. Right before Riven can touch Karma, she is rooted and Karma easily escapes. You can do all of this without your shield but if you do screw up you can shield and still be successful.

Garen counters riven hard. As soon as she tries to all in you silence her and she's done. She won't be getting any kills in that lane without help. Fiora can beat her but it's whoever gets ahead first. Shaco can also shit on her. Set up boxes and have her jump into them. And it's riven so they will jump into them over and over again. Keep a couple behind you so you can escape or bait as needed.

You could be right but I've yet to experience it. I 1v1 against my buddy who mains riven from time to time and she still isn't a problem.

The only thing that separates a good riven from a bad riven is throwing in an AA between q's. You shut down her all in level two and six and that's the end for her. She will either jump into the minion wave to try and hit you at level two at which point you q back and she takes quite a bit of damage from the minions or she waits until the minions are dead and you just walk away. Garen's q-e combo outdamages her early unless you completely screw up and die somehow. Get a brutilizer when you back and riven can't trade with you.

Riven isn't a god and she can be completely shutdown in lane. She will roam and get kills eventually and start to snowball but she still can't do a thing to you.

I tried Warwick mid long time ago. I was against Katarina . Every time she used shunpo, I used my hungering strike. Every time she used her ult, I used my ult.

Fighters beat assassins.

People are starting to take Garen Darius mid vs Zed as counterpicks, and it's extremely effective to be honest.

Sure, but I was talking about the skill set more than the general assassin vs fighter matchup.

Also, isn't it easy for zed to zone them with his shadow?

On paper, yes, zed can zone with his shadow.

In reality, no. These guys can rush armor to greatly reduce zed's damage, while still shredding him. If zed gets the slightest bit too close to them, he either gets silenced or pulled, then takes a big chunk of damage to his health.

hmm... why not? sure ud get poked and run into mana issues.... but once you get E and some resistances, you could do some nice dmg..

I am concerned about mobility issues tho :P ... missing E or not being able to R after his R-swap

Pantheon very early mid. The damage is insane, but the damage falls off early mid game thankfully.

Fiora into teemo. Level two double q him and activate w then just walk away. Level three same as before but you kill him this time if you haven't already with the double dashes. At six he's a buffet, You eat him and snowball hard. It's not an off lane counter but it is something that you wouldn't think would work given his blind. I've yet to die to a teemo as fiora. My experience is in the bronze-gold range so it might not work at higher levels.

Malzahar into any top laner with the exception of chogath gangplank and tryndamere. cho just gets to big to deal with far to fast. Anivia into any top laner though renekton is a hard match up. It definitely works on darius. Garen into nidalee. This one might not make much sense and maybe it's just been luck but nid can't do anything against garen. Just sidestep her spears and you win the lane. She will try to kite you but you can keep her zoned waaaay back. Freeze the lane and she has no choice but to either fight you or be so underfed she can't do anything for the rest of the game.

This is just my personal experiences so they might not work for you. Maybe I'm just incredibly lucky.

Ashe against Katarina mid lane. This match up pissed me off so much because you can't really farm because if you do Ashe will just Q and chase you to tower and not to mention her first item (if she is smart) will be a Maw of Mortius which pretty much stops your combo/ult when she Ashe hits 30% hp so she can continue filling you up with icy arrows. FML
