Tips against Olaf?

I feel like I'm unable to win against him with every matchup I ever had. Since Dyrus played it, people somehow just became gods on him. He crushes me in lane and when I'm at my tower I get harrased down with axes and eventually dove and it feels to me like there is nothing I can do against it. The only succes I had was with tanks because it made it a harder time fro him to dive me. When it comes to teamfights I feel like the pattern repeats itself. By focussing him we just waste resources and retreating when the fight already started is not an option. Now that is just how he FEELS to me, he probably is not that good, his absurdly low winrate and other factors speak against it. I figured I just don't know how to play against that. So I ask you guys for help. What do you do against Olaf, how do you counter it, how do you effectively trade with him? And what do you do against him in teamfights when you can't really focus him? Thanks in advance.

If he overthrow his axe and u have a dps meele champ u can trade with him hard, if he overthrow his axe and u have any kind of range cc, cc him if that is possible, try to dodge his q in general. Farm from max range if u outscale him, because if u survive lane phase vs olaf, olaf has a shitty late game, many champions can beat him at the first complete item if they dont fall behind hard (tanks cannot do that, but many dps champions can beat him at the first complete item). If u are range use the bushes and farm and every time olaf overthrow his axe look for a trade and b.If u are range and u push him, dont push him under the turret because u will give him the opportunity to all in(olaf's deadliest weapon is all in), freeze 6/10, many champions can disengage vs olaf even meele champs, try to dont push him farther from mid boarders of the lane. Olaf is a lane bully after all, if u survive lane phase u will outscale him at teamfights, also olaf rarely wants 5v5 or 4v4 fights early (exception if u have lulu sivir on your team), so dont be afraid if ur team fights for the first dragon if ur champion is TeamFight orientate. Olaf 3v3 or 2v2 op early mid/game even late game sometimes. Now depend on matchups

I actually "main" olaf, and have been using an incredibly hard to counter exaust/smite/devourer jungle set that "kinda" renders enemy armor useless. While I'm not gonna reveal how to counter the sets I use (as that'd be foolish and stupid of me), I will share some tips on how to counter standard ones:

  1. Crowd Control- Aside from his ult (and certain items that you almost never see on him), pinning him down with cc is rather easy to do. Once you pop that, he'll either have to go all in or flee, as repeated use makes him rather useless in the lane

  2. Kiting- Not only does olaf rely on getting in close (as his q is the only thing that can hit something at mid-range), but he really has no way to boost his speed by himself outside of ghost and item 3069 . Hitting him with long-range poke while kiting back is typically a good method of dealing with him, as you can often get him down to half-hp before he even comes close.

  3. Health Regen Disruption Items and Summoner Spells- Figured I'd combine these, as my wrists are getting a tad sore from playing Garry's Mod all night. Olaf relies quite a bit on his W just to heal himself and not die instantly in combat. Something like a item 3165 is a pretty decent counter to him, as he'll almost always want to be around 50% HP anyways just to abuse his passive more. Summoner Spells aren't so much a "counter" to what he can do but more show what he can't do in a match. If he's running ghost (in addition to TP/Smite) then he'll have a hard time escaping AoE/skillshots, and if he's running flash then he'll have a hard time being able to gap-close without using his ulti.

Personally, I main Kayle, seems to work quite well. In fact, playing her into him is what made me start playing her more. Q+E(AA) any time he so much as peeks around a corner, and he stays pretty useless. 3 levels in Q first, but start E

OR Start E>Q>E>W>Q>R>Q>E>E>E for your skill order, sometimes the second early level in E can help. The goal is to push the lane down his throat and get at least one AA(With E active) on him any time he tries to come near a mini under a turret. If he's not under his turret, hit him with Q and proceed to put him back under it where he belongs.

BUY WARDS. They will be needed due to being pushed.
