Gaining last hits as support

I'm asking for help because my friend keep wanting me to play rift, but I normally only play 3s or aram. Thankfully he does team builder where I will insta lock as a support. Now for the most part I understand warding and a few items.

My question is when should I work on getting my own creep score. I know support shouldn't last hit if they can help it, but the supports I play often have more sustain along with I know DON'T spam for the sac of spam. So I often will end up almost compete fine when the adc will get pushed out of lane. So should I be trying to get some farm if the minions are pushing on your turret and the ADC has left seems like a time where I should be going after them. What about if I don't have a adc with a instant skill shot like Vayne, I would think taking a caster or two would be acceptable, even a cannon from time to time.

Usually you shouldnt worry about your CS. the main point of a support in early game is letting your adc farm, and poking the enemy team so they dont get cs. when your adc goes back by all means farm all you want, and usually late game when a lane needs to be pushed its fair game!

anytime your adc isnt in lane and you are you should be killing minions as close as possible to death. you also should try to stop their wave from crashing into your tower. if you have to eat a bit of aggro from the minions and distract them until you get another wave. then go back to only last hitting till your adc returns. (unless the other bot lane is shoving hard, then just clear as fast as you can while getting gold as they are gonna die to tower before your adc gets back)

while your adc is with you however you should probably avoid attacking any minions, as this can throw your adc off. unless you are using a relic shield charge there should hardly ever be a time you are taking the cannon minion. (rare case example being they are out of range and cant get to it but you can) times when attacking minions is acceptable include first and second wave if trying to rush level 2 (generally best to aa casters a few times making sure to leave them where your adc can still last hit) got a double kill/forced them to back and want to shove wave hard to tower. want to push out lane to go help dragon, and their adc isnt there.

Literally the only time I farm as a Support is when the ADC recalled and the lane is pushing against us. I try to get it frozen and very slowly last hit the CS so it stays and he gets a free smorgasbord of cs when he gets back to lane.

I guess that's not completely true in that if I play Nautilus or a similar champion I'll cash in my Targon's Stacks as well.

It was only a few games, and I always play the due lane in 3s so I know how to play a support type. But when I did I played Lulu, but I mostly Q when I wanted to poke a bit and allow my ADC to AOE the wave. That or W one of them when they pulled up to try to attack. With her like I said I know how to Sustain myself almost never getting pushed out pre-6 depending on the jungler's. Along with why you want a sign stone fast.

Second question is, what if your adc either Sucks or cant LH. My last game my adc was junk and getting trolled by telic. Ironically I save him almost every time he got stunned.

It really depends on what support your playing. Supports that go item 3302 can last hit minions because it gives gold and healing to your adc but supports that don't get this item shouldn't last hit. If your adc leaves lane for some reason you should either try to roam to make a play in another lane, ward, or back depending on where the rest of your team is.
