TFT Has Some Issues
First off, my main issue with the game mode is I am bad. It seems like i sometimes stumble into top 4, but most of the time i am below that.
However despite being bad I do notice that its not always my skill that is the problem here. I mean when i have 1 item and that item is Redemption and the person in first place has 2 Guinsoo's, Bloodthirster, Spear, and a Red Buff it really doesn't seem fair... like i obviously don't stand a stance against that.
I think the major issue is Items. I think Riot severely undervalues Items in this game mode. Giving me 1 gold instead of an item at the beginning of the game is basically giving me nothing when someone else gets a B.F or Rod or Recurve that can turn their first item into one of the god-tier late game items. In my last 10 games i get 1 gold in maybe 80% of them. By the end of the game, in all my games that I have played, I have only ever had more than 4 complete items in 1 single game (and surprise I actually came in first, i had 6 complete items).
Another issue that I run in to way too often is who I am facing. This last game I played, I faced the person in first place 4 times in a row... They had 3 level 3's and 4 complete items. I had only 3 level 2's and 3 level 1's and Redemption as my only item... I lost 4 rounds back to back because of this. That doesn't seem fair. No shit that person is going to win and no shit they are going to stay in first place when they are fighting my last place team every round. This shouldn't be Random, it should cycle through. This game is about 70% RNG based, its already too reliant on RNG, this doesn't need to be RNG.
Last issue I have is Champion Pool being too small. Due to the RNG, which is totally fine its part of the game, its really easy for some to get their build rolling real quick and for others to just flop and get nothing until late game when its almost too late to do anything. Thats all fine and dandy, but its too easy for 3 people to just switch off their build into your build and take all the champions. In one of my games a guy had a solid Wild Shapeshifter build with several level 2's. I was trying for Noble Knights, but wasn't getting them. About 4 rounds later, that same dude sold all his level 2 Wild Shapeshifters (except his level 3 Warwick) and went Noble Knights instead... He has all my units but higher tier and had better econ than me. If the game had given ME those units instead, I would have been winning not him. Worst part is I couldn't even spec into Wild Shapeshifter because it wasn't giving it to me. I am not complaining about the RNG here, I am complaining at how small the Champion Pool is where its too easy for people to be fighting over the same 4 champions, and DUE TO THE RNG, one person is always left at the bottom with nothing they can do. The fix would be adding more champion variance so that kind of fighting happens intentionally, not because RNG is throwing a ton of champions at random people.
