Dear Camille Players...

Stephenizgod··155 votes·9,450 views

I am sorry but I will be automatically banning this champion in my Ranked games. There are multiple reasons for it and I accept that you will be mad at me, specially if you are on my team. All I ask if that you understand why I am banning her:

  • I don't trust that you have enough games on her to know her kit well. Specially at Bronze-Silver ELO where I am currently.
  • I have never played with or against this champion, I am not 100% sure on what she is capable of and it puts me at a disadvantage if she is in the game.
  • She JUST CAME OUT, there could be bugs or imbalances with her that could cost us the game.
  • I main Top lane and don't want to deal with her in Ranked, I will learn how to play against her in Normals after my placements.
  • Every time a new champion is played in Ranked on my team, they feed uncontrollably because they don't know how to use them.

So I am sorry but she is going to get banned.

They should really just disable new champs for ranked upon release so as people don't have to waste a ban on them.

They raised the release price to 7800 IP on new champs at least.

Not if you own all the champions, then you can just buy 3 champion shards for 1700 each, 5100 total, to get the new champion! Costs less than the normal cost, I'm surprised Riot hasn't thought about changing that.

Sraeg20133 votes

That'd mean little since a lot of people playing ranked only plays ranked.

Personally in the past 2 seasons I played maybe 50 ARAM/normal games, solely because a friend asked me to.

Ralanr22 votes

Mean?

You shouldn't first time a champion in ranked!

Sraeg201311 votes

I first-time them in customs, which don't appear in my match history.

I prefer this approach, because it allows me to test every ability without worying about other bots players.

Then I take a champion into whatever mode I feel like playing, usually ranked, which in fact is no different than normals as far as the players are concerned.

DarkSunSovereign2 votes

Yeah, but since you're ALMOST first-timing, you'll probably feed, and in normals that's K, but in rankeds people lose LP.

Dêcoy5 votes

I'm sorry, Im EUNE player, we don't have normal games. We have only ranked queues. That means we are not allowed to play new champions?

Maximum Morde1 votes

Use ranked Flex pick for normals :).

Dêcoy1 votes

Im doing that. But that person wrote: "You shouldn't first time a champion in ranked!"

And Flex is still ranked q. So looks like it's not allowed either, but luckily, I don't care. Its not my fault Riot took normal games away from most of the regions.

WarlockLaw2 votes

I used to believe that "You shouldn't first time a champion in ranked!" However without normal drafts I would change the statement to "Don't first time in solo/duo queue!"

Swollwonder7 votes

I remember an interview quote thing where they said the reason they don't do this is because its not really any different than having someone unlock a new champion and then just directly take that champion into lane. Unless you want to start banning people from picking their newly unlocked champion in ranked as well until a certain time period it doesn't make a whole lot more sense to lock new champs just because they're release new.

TheHurricaneGamr22 votes

Those are all very valid points.

AirKingNeo4 votes

No not really.

  1. I don't trust any Yasuo player on my team but I don't ban yasuo. Why? Because I'm a good person and would rather ban something my enemy would play.

  2. I don't know how to play against Urgot. Does that mean Urgot should be disabled from Ranked?

  3. The PBE fixes bugs. If she's unbalanced people would ban her for being broken or not play her. You never ban your own team's champions because that's trolling.

  4. Don't play ranked then.

  5. That's stereotyping. That's pretty offensive to people.

Hey look, all points are no longer valid. Now here's a point that's valid: What about Diamond+ players who want to play new champions? Should they play normals vs Golds or learn their champion against players at their level? Same applies to him. Why should I be forced to not play my champion at the level I feel is best for me?

lolipopevelynn17 votes

Valid points, but remember. There will be first time champ players in ranked regardless of if its a fresh 6 hour brand new right off the presses champ or one of the old and ancient original 40 champs. therefore, imo and unless the champ is blatantly OP, its best to not ban new champs and instead use that valuable ban on champs that fucking deserve it like Vayne Twitch Syndra Leblanc Yasuo Riven just to name a few.

also excpect to get hardcore trolled if you do this. People get very upset when you ban the champs they want to play. They were planning to throw the game by first time playing camille anyway, so they will just do it proper with teemo instead.

Stephenizgod10 votes

True but there is no way of knowing that, I do know however that Camille is new and no one really knows how to play her. I also ban her so I don't have to face her, because I have never played against her before and would rather just face someone I know and deal with it.

Sraeg20136 votes

She is actually very straightforward, so it's less about knowing "how to play" and more about knowing matchups.

Like if they pick Teemo and you have Camille top, don't expect miracles. She will lose without the jungler's assistance.

Except that older champions have had the ever-living shit played out of them. If I was to take, say, Amumu into ranked, all I have to do is a quick Google search and I can find all manner of tried and tested builds, clear paths for jungle, skill order, and even videos of pros playing him. I have everything I need to know what I should be doing right from the start; I won't be likely to do PHENOMENAL on him, but I'll be able to avoid feeding.

If I decided to take Camille into ranked first time, on the other hand, what do I have? Her ability descriptions, maybe a few tips based off of similar beefy diver champions for what to build on her... that's it. There's no pool of experience and knowledge to draw on.

Just because a champ is older and there's build guides doesn't mean it's pick up and play. Yasuo, Zed, Bard, Xerath, Elise, and many many more are considerably more trickier to play and no amount of YouTube videos or build guides will make sure you do well.

If you've played the game even in the slightest, you can not feed with any champion you get your hands on. Camille is actually easier to not feed on because her hook shots can help her escape danger better, so if anything she is better as a first timer because she's not going to get hosed if she's horribly out of position. The trickiest part of her kit is the timing of her attacks, and almost every champion who specializes in AA modifiers has this hurdle to cross. So while what you say is true on most new champs (Like who knew how to play Bard on launch?) Camille is a lot more straightforward than a lot of other champs, very similar to the simplicity of Kled.

You're missing the point I think. It's always possible that your teammates is first-timing Ashe, but it's guaranteed they're first-timing the Champion if said Champion literally came out three hours ago.

DrCyanide3 votes

Even if your teammate is first timing Ashe, chances are pretty good they've seen Ashe played and know what's she does, how she scales, etc. They can also pull up guides on their other monitor and find tried-and-true builds/runes/masteries. All of that puts them at an advantage over someone trying to play a barely released champion.

Glory ln Death6 votes

Did you just assume they have a second monitor?!?!

Triggered.

Pyrophilia12 votes

Please be advised that if a member of your team declares Camille as their pick intent and one of the two below-stipulated conditions are met,

  • the player hovering Camille is first pick, so there is absolute certainty the pick won't be handed to the other team
  • or players on your team are willing to trade champions in such a manner as to ensure the above-mentioned

but you still ban, you are technically griefing and may be reported.

Stephenizgod7 votes

Better than them picking a champion just to try her out because they can't in Normals... That is also a reportable offense, Refusing to Communicate, and Riot has shown they are willing to ban someone for it regardless of winning or losing. I state in every game that I would like to ban Camille and if anyone asks why or says something, I will explain. So far only one person complained and it was because they were stealing my lane to play Camille.

Pyrophilia5 votes

Just informing you how it works. It's something to keep in mind.

Chembaron Yamada8 votes

No, it isn't reportable offense. Just because you say you don't want him to pick Camille and he still does is not refusing to communicate. If he really wants to play her and is confident that he is able to, it's fine.

I think what you meant as reference was that support Singed guy. But he didn't get banned because he was picking Singed while no one wanted him to. He was banned because he was playing extremely strange strategies without communicating these with his team, forcing his team to play in his will.

You don't do this if you simply pick Camille top lane and play her like you would with any top laner. So you banning Camille even if your team member is first pick is grieving, sry, that's just how it is.

I just got a game against one,she was trying to hook me instead of the walls and went 0/3,then i was like " dude dont first time champs in ranked, you're putting you and your team in a bad spot " and then he was like " stfu kid " he then added me after the game to tell me to go fuck myself and deleted me what a wonderfull individual

Supreme Senpai693 votes

Lol whenever someone tried to add you after a game, it's either to talk shit or play games with you. Unless they were super nice there's really no reason to accept.

You are unreasonable and here's why: If you don't trust your team don't play a team based game, you will never win alone, but you can lose alone. Do research on new champions, watch videos study their kit. All major bugs and imbalances were tested on the PBE, what is the point of that server you think? The best way to learn to deal with new champions is to play with them and against them in a serious environment. By banning Camille you tilt players on your team that wanted to play her, and tilted players are much more dangerous for your mmr.

Basically you are doing a disservice to yourself.

Stephenizgod4 votes

It is not unreasonable to not want a newly released champion (we are talking a couple hours since her release...) in my Ranked games where I am trying my hardest to win. I am giving my all to win, I expect my team to do the same. If they pick their best in their best role, i don't really care if they win or lose, but they need to give it their all. If i pick a champion I am not comfortable with in Ranked and do less than great, I feel 100% responsible because I chose something a bit off for me.

We are a team, there needs to be cooperation and picking a champion pretty much no one wants on their team for the first couple weeks, is even worse than me banning that champion. Report me all you want, but if you pick Camille and lose I will report you for refusing to communicate. We all know this is a bannable offense, just ask Support Smite Singed.

GayFluffyUnicorn7 votes

Stop "stealing" that "support" smite singed to comfort your argument. That guy actively NOT supported his team but made his adc and jungler struggle by some weird double jungle whatever singed. That's entirely different from picking a newly released toplane champ for toplane.

Stephenizgod1 votes

He wasn't banned for off-meta pick, he was banned because his pick negative affected his teammates, despite the fact he was winning. In my experience, when my teammates picks a new champion just to try them out it never turns out good. Like i said, losing is one thing, i don't care we all lose, but trying out something new in Ranked is just a completely dickhead thing to do.

AirKingNeo1 votes

Now what about Diamond+ players who want to play new champions? Should they play normals vs Golds or learn their champion against players at their level? Same applies to him. Why should I be forced to not play my champion at the level I feel is best for me?

I'll keep saying this every time and your argument will always fail to this truth.

Stephenizgod1 votes

First off, stop spamming it is annoying and your point is invalid anyways.

Second to address your comment, I am not Diamond+ so I wouldn't be in a situation where I was banning their champion. I also stated in the post I was in Bronze-Silver ELO and it was them I was talking to. So the basis of your comment is null and void already but I will continue anyways.

I don't know how people at Diamond handle the new champion, if I ever reach Diamond (unlikely) I will come back to this comment and let you know what I find out.

You should play your best champions in your best roles in Ranked, the champion literally just came out, I have zero reason to believe you are capable of playing her at the same level as your other champions. Why should I be forced to lose a ranked game because you wanted to try out the new champion? Why is it such a big deal? WHY NOT WAIT A WEEK BEFORE TAKING IT INTO RANKED?

This is a team game, you need to cooperate with us, if we don't know how to play with a Camille, guess what? EVERYONE WILL SUFFER FOR IT. Plus if she truly is OP, I don't want her possibly on the other team, because guess what? I don't know how to face her yet WHICH I STATED IN MY POST AS BEING ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS I BAN HER. I will play Normals and face her there to learn what she can do then I will go into Ranked and decide if she is still ban worthy or not. It is also at this point I will stop automatically banning her if my teammates want her.

Instead of spam asking pointless questions reread my post and pay attention this time because i answer your question there. I don't want my teammates at a disadvantage all because they want to try a new champion and I don't want to have to face her in Ranked until I can learn what she is capable of in Normals.

AirKingNeo2 votes

My point is clearly valid. You're refusing to read the 3rd and 4th sentences.

Why should I be forced to not play my champion at the level I feel is best for me?

I've asked a diamond+ player. This was his complaint to if they ever made such a bad decision.

No, you play ranked for your ranking. Playing your absolute best champion isn't required. Zero reason? Well I have zero reason you are good at any champion either. Should I ban your preferred pick then? Why should I have to wait a week just to pander to you?

It's a team game. If you waste a ban on your own teammates you're team suffers because they just picked Syndra/Lee Sin/Rengar/Kha/Fiora/ANY OTHER CHAMPION WORTH A BAN. You're also trolling your own team. DO you're own research then. Then play normals and learn how to face her! Take you're own advice!

Stephenizgod1 votes

The level you feel best for you? You are arguing that you should be able to first pick a champion into ranked because you believe you can perform on that champion to the best of your abilities? That is ridiculous. If you are in my elo, you can barely perform good on any champion, a completely new champion you have never played before? I don't think so, no way, that is bullshit. If you don't like that I ban Camille when you want to play her, that is just too bad, dodge or report me i don't really care, but don't fucking try to bullshit me and act like you will be able to play that champion at the same level you play your main champions.

In several of those posts you spam copy pasted on, I explain that I intend to learn how to face her in Normals and that I will decide whether she is Ban-worthy after a few matches against her. I guess you just glossed over that because you are repeating what I have been saying to me as if I never thought of doing it...

You accuse me of "refusing to read" your comment, when you ignore that A) I ALREADY FUCKING ANSWERED YOUR COMMENT, B) I ALREADY EXPLAIN ALL OF THIS IN MY ORIGINAL POST, and finally C) BANNING HER FROM MY TEAMMATES IS NOT THE ONLY REASON I AM BANNING HER. I am also banning her because I don't feel comfortable facing her. but no you would rather spam message me and repeat yourself over and over again, completely ignoring my answers because they aren't what you want to hear and refusing to read my post fully. You picked only 1 part of my post to respond to, and ignore the rest. I didn't even specify whether I was talking to teammates or enemies, I was talking to both.

Honestly dude, I know its hard to sit there and read someones opinion that you disagree with, but do at least try to read ALL of it because you completely missed half of the reason I ban Camille.

AirKingNeo2 votes

Yeah I do because why would I want to practice something vs bad people or people equal to me?

If you don't like that I ban Camille when you want to play her, that is just too bad, dodge or report me i don't really care, but don't fucking try to bullshit me and act like you will be able to play that champion at the same level you play your main champions.

That's trolling and reportable.

Then stop playing ranked and learn how to beat her now. You want people learning to play as her to do the same, right? Follow you're own advice or shut up.

You seem mad. You should try calming down or else your angry might make you look like a fool. I send it because I countered what you said. I just responded to the ones I saw.

You banned her because you're a hypocrit and trolling allies. Sorry you don't like the truth about yourself.

Banning her in Normals is a complete dick move, new champions should be auto-banned in Ranked and unbannable in Normals.

Allbiter4 votes

Lol. You should ban Camille for other reasons than those. Like the fact that she has so much range that a team mate of my last game got killed from her grapple dash combo from a spot that wasnt even on his screen yet. Plus her whole combo is extremely cheap and op dangerous. They need to nerf her now! She is too OP. WAYYYY too OP. Every time she ganked me, I died. And thats no easy thing to do to me EVERY time she ganks.

I'm confused on why so many people cared enough about why you're banning a champion as to upvote it.

But hey, at least you're just admitting you don't understand her so you're gonna ban it. Most people just make a certifiably uncertifiable claim that "she is op."

Part of it is that riot tends to purposefully "overpower" the champions when they first come out. (The chances of RP purchases are higher) So people rush the champions into ranked for "easy wins" And then they get tuned down a bit afterwards.
