"Stuns are an outlet against damage heavy teams, otherwise the player with the biggest sword wins." ~ Riot ... Or something along that line. Not an exact quote.

Basically, Riot kept Glacial because it was an alternative to having "tons of damage!" See also, Wardens and Light.

Of course, It also flies in the face of their decision to minimize hard-counters in set 2. Since the near perma-stun nature of Glacial is able to hard-counter some comps while soft-countering every comp.

Glacial wouldn't even be so bad, if Riot had taken into account how Proc chance interacts with high attack speeds. Maybe if they gave it a per-target cooldown or something along that line?

Glacial: Attacks have a 50% chance to stun for 2 seconds on-hit. Each target can only be stunned by Glacial once every X seconds (Starting when the stun ends). 2 Glacial: 15 second cooldown. 4 Glacial: 10 second cooldown. 6 Glacial: 5 second cooldown.

Heck, at that point, we could even make it a team-wide buff to open up more comps!

Glacial: all allies' attacks have a X% chance to stun for 2 seconds on-hit. Each target can only be stunned by Glacial once every Y seconds (Starting when the stun ends). 2 Glacial: 10% chance with 15 second cooldown. 4 Glacial: 20% chance with 10 second cooldown. 6 Glacial: 30% chance with 5 second cooldown. 9 Glacial: 50% chance with 3 second cooldown. (Because someone will pull it off eventually)

It's ridiculous honestly. Glacial is annoying and super unfun to play against but that's not the problem. The problem is that Olaf happens to be a glacial.

With the power in his ult and the berserker synergy he feels unstoppable and can 1v9 with item 3072+ item 3124

I personally feel like if he wasn't a glacial he would have been fine. Players would've had to build him with frozen mallet if they wanted the ability to freeze lock entire teams. It would still be annoying but at least it'd be because the player invested a spatula into him, using up an item slot that could have held a more powerful item.

He should either be made a 5 cost unit, have his glacial origin replaced with something else or have the attack speed on his ult lowered by like, a lot lol

Edit: OR his ult shouldn't last for the whole round, it could only last a few seconds or for his next [x] amount of auto attacks

What? You DON'T like Glacial? How about Glacial + Berzerker? AOE Stuns! :)

I played against a comp that had olaf glacial comp, his first auto froze 3/4 of my team lol. Was pretty wild

im wondering the same thing, why keep such a toxic and unhealthy game mechanic, also delete toxic

Thilmer11/16/2019, 3:06:07 PM1 votes

Glacial was unbalanced and didn't have a counter in the first TFT.

Of all team compositions, that is the one that I would have deleted first to make TFT 2.

But Riot keeps it and give the team Olaf, a heavy damage unit with a ridiculous skill that is quite overpowered on his own.

Yeah, classic Riot balancing…

Imo the set 2 glacial is more fair than set 1. At least the glacial champions now dont have huge cc/ aoe ultimates. glacial 6 isnt really a thing, cause you need either lux or 2 frozen mallets.

glacial+berserk is easy to counter through good positioning. Get some tanks infront that can block off their frontline. And get some hyper dmg carry in your backline, far enough away from you tanks that they don't get aoe dmg. Ideally you should spread grivious wounds everywhere with a morello and malz brand zyra or a redbuff on sivir or twitch.

Olaf is very strong, but there are other equally strong champions and even more broken teamcomps.

Just build Quicksilver, obviously. And since most people are commenting on Olaf in particular, Red Buff and Thornmail.

Honestly Olaf is pretty cancer but at least he replaced Sejuani

Olaf might be a hypercarry but he can't stun the entire board in one go. That and he's probably going to get nerfed.

The game has much more CC options than the previous one, both soft and hard CC. Glacial was toxic in the previous set, because at least 3 glacial units had a built in stun already. Current Glacials work through proccing the effect as much as they can, it is less toxic now imho. Olaf has a lot of strategical counters though, it's just people prefer to race for Olaf instead of going for his counters. Even if you can't burst him down with e.g Veigar, you can do other stuffs:

  • Taliyah can knock him away, giving time for your team to kill him
  • Cloud gives dodge chance
  • Yasuo can jump and jump from target to target, so he is less likely that he is going to be locked down
  • Janna can knock him away
  • Soraka can prevent his ult from activation
  • Malphite knock up is extremely potent
  • Kha'zix can do the same as Yasuo with more damage
  • Predator & Glacial is actually a pretty hard counter to Olaf, because Glacial WW and e.g Ezreal can lock down Olaf long enough to proc the Predator effect

All in all you actually have a lot of build options. Some builds e.g Woodland & Druid is only good from early to mid game and it is extremely hard to pull off lategame.

And somebody mentioned light: Light is a rather lategame oriented build, because Light builds are pretty inefficient until you get Yorick, who is the powerhouse of the build.
