I had no idea who Dunkey was..like legit never heard of this guy before this board hype

What I got from his video was:

1)He encountered a troll (which all of us do eventually) 2)He lost his chance at a promo (that as any other high elo person would say if you're meant to move up you will) 3) He flamed so hard that he hoped someone got killed 4) Got banned for FOUR DAYS and started throwing a tantrum and made an entire video on it 5) Starts pointing out whatever he could that makes league an imperfect game (I never knew there was such thing as a perfect game)

My thoughts: If you are willing to play a video game with complete strangers on the internet KNOWING exactly how the game is and still intend to tell someone they need to be gunned down on the street shows you have no reason to around society in general. I don't think a lot of people here realize this when they log into league. IT'S. A. VIDEO. GAME. Your life still goes on even if you don't get plat/challenger/diamond etc. w/e. You will not die because some child lost you a game. Mute him. Report him. Move on. It's as easy as that.

I don't get how people can defend this guy who told someone such harsh things yet the moment someone insults them verbally they want justice done and cry when it isn't.

Also another note: As far as I know the tribunal only bans you or w/e after a series of reports as well as you being reported multiple times through multiple games by multiple people. If you aren't reported much you usually get a warning or chat ban etc.

So i'm gonna assume he wasn't a very nice person to play with in the first place.

Just my opinion on someone who doesn't even really know who Dunkey is

I tried watching on one Dunkey's videos, got about 2 min in before I had enough on his language. Can he say anything without cussing every sentence? He also said that being toxic in games is what makes it fun? Is he the reason I run into jerks in my games, they wanna be like him so they are utterly toxic to anything moving?

I just watched the vid.

Riot doesn't owe anyone anything for playing their game. You are not obligated, you are not payed, and you are certainly not the only person who chooses to play the game with your freetime. The videos made are fan creations, they are a nice gesture of interest to the game, but Riot didn't pay anyone to make them. They made them of their own free will.

I don't understand this line of thinking, "You owe me because I invested time into your creation, I invested it of my own free will and you are obligated to owe me."

No. Riot isn't obligated to do shit for you. Here's the said truth that people seem to forget: There is no difference between a league YouTuber and a league player to Riot. They are just players. Doesn't matter how good you are at the game, doesn't matter how famous you are within the community (because it's filled with players). Unless Riot has hired you to do something, then you do not matter for special things like, "hey can you unban me?" More than anyone else.

Get over yourself. Riot treats (or it's trying if anyone wants to argue) its players equally no matter how good, bad, how much they paid, or how popular they are. That's how a company is supposed to run, without favorable bias and with goals to help it advance.

What would it say about Riot if they unbanned him to finish his video? It would only further prove the mentality that Riot doesn't care because they let a toxic player back in because he's famous.

A ban is someone putting the foot down. Accept the punishment like an adult or leave. Don't expect special treatment.

Dunkey isn't a super kind person to play with (anyone who looks at the chat logs would know), but his videos are an unprecedented genre of comedy and he's pretty charming I imagine he may be in a pretty negative place right now, so I'm not outright condemning him for it, but the slap on the wrist ban was unavoidable after that comment LOL

As a huge huge Dunkey fan, there's no doubt he deserved the suspension (though admittedly his crassness is a big part of what makes him absolutely hilarious)

But on the other hand, he did bring up some valid points in his video, especially the discussion on the irony of the intentional feeder he was raging at facing zero consequences whatsoever while he was banned.

Dunkey is partially to blame about the toxicity of this game. If he is so famous as he says he is, then a lot of people that play the game look up to him as weird as that thing sounds. Good riddance I say, a community has one less toxic player and maybe even more if he goes away for good.

This incident wasn't what made him leave, he has been growing frustrated with the game for a long time now and this was just the turning point. I think he had that ban coming too but I think that his salty delivery means a lot of people are going to miss some of the important points his case brings up: the auto-ban system is inherently flawed and is just a glorified cuss filter, punishing people who grow frustrated with the game severely while being very inefficient at punishing some of those who are responsible for the frustration. Riot says that they want champion diversity on one hand, and then they make changes that tunnel most champions towards one role anyway. There's less room for unorthodox strategies and individual skill carrying a game because Riot is enamoured with their "grab as many players as possible" approach to gameplay design, neutering the game in all aspects because they want to make it more accessible and get a bigger bottom line.

So on the one hand, nah, his ban wasn't unjustified and I don't fault Riot for punishing overly toxic behavior. On the other hand, Riot doesn't really seem to have their priorities straight. (Or rather, they do, but those priorities are in the best interest of Riot's $$$ and not the overall quality and enjoyment of the game)

Even as someone who enjoys his videos it was going to happen sooner or later. It was my understanding he was mainly playing with friends when cracking jokes like that. But it seems like most of the time it was with people who didn't know him. It's sad but that's usually how it is when you play this game. You'll get people who don't know who he is no matter how famous you think he is. Hopefully this will change the way he acts because from all this it's pretty surprising how toxic he is when not making a video.

He left for the same reasons I did; Riot have basically claimed and acted like they've "cured" toxicity in their game, meanwhile it's more prevalent than ever, even 3 years ago when I left because of how ridiculously intolerable the community was to play with. Enter a series to get promoted - nope, guy on your team is going to do EVERYTHING he can to make sure you lose. "You weren't meant to win" is a bullshit counter argument, and anyone who says this has the IQ of a potato. If you were watching a football game, and one player decides to completely ignore the plays and ultimately throws the match, fans would be fucking FURIOUS and demand that player be banned from games.

But oh wow, the guy intentionally feeding and/or using Bard or Tahm or Kalista to intentionally cause another player to lose didn't say any bad words, so it's fine.

Not only is toxicity in ALL ELO's at an all-time high, but we're basically told "Only 2% of all games are toxic and we strive to ensure that toxicity is taken care of!" is complete and utter bullshit. I've had days where I will play 5 games and EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THOSE GAMES HAS SOMEONE (in either team) trying to make the game as MISERABLE for the other players as possible.

It's disgusting, it's becoming worse and worse, and Riot close their eyes and cover their ears and pretend like they've fixed the problem.

I have barely played in the last couple of weeks, and have little to no intention of coming back until real changes to the community are made.

P.s. I haven't been chat restricted since February (was chat restricted because I told the guy telling me to kill myself to "fuck off"), so inb4 "you're probably toxic" or some other shitty counterargument that blind sheep fanboys will throw at me.

I honestly don't care about League youtubers at all, and the drama is irrelevant to me. Idk why people value their opinions so much more just because they make videos. If it was anyone else doing this nobody would care. But because it's some dunkey guy threads like this are made.

The tribunal is dead, They replaced it with a machine that doesn't ban when it should, and bans when it shouldn't. This is one of the few rare cases I've seen where it actually banned someone who should have been banned.

I don't think Dunkey's ban was out of line but these threads are very disingenuous by ignoring the fact the Mal was being a massive prick and deserved to be insulted.

And no kids, actions are far worse than words both in game and real life.

What most of you are failing to mention is the reason that dunkey and most people who actually put effort into league rage about is the intentional trolls. People who think its funny and feel some sense of power in the fact that they can screw with you ruin 20-60 minutes of your life. Is there any real punishment for that? NO. you can report all you want but I have never in my countless hours of playing heard of someone getting banned for feeding or lack of skill which I think are much bigger issues than name calling. Did he take it a bit far? Maybe, but to waste an hour of someone's life should warrant a much harsher punishment.

Same here. Looked at a few of his vids and he seems to be the typical youtube retard that tweens watch all day. Like Sky for Minecraft or Pooppie or whatever that other morons name is.

He also seemed to be an ass, saw him tell a few plays to fuck off in the game. Hope he enjoys his time off, and I hope he never returns.

Whether or not dunkey deserved to be ban or not is hardly the point. The point of the video is how companies are becoming more politically correct in order to secure more revenue. And people who abuse other players and are actually toxic go unpunished while those who defend themselves or vent their frustrations when encountered by such a player are punished instead. It's not much different than the real world where states don't allow "stand your ground". It's the "we know better than you complex" and we will dictate how you act and you will do as we say or face the consequences. Not much different than a police state kind of mentality. So, yes I understand his frustration. It's happening in the real world as well. People are slowly figuring that out.

But on his other point I totally understand that league has lost it's way and in comparison to other mobas seems to be losing out on a much bigger market by acting like they have a monopoly. League is not competitive in the moba market. They at this point do the bare minimum where other mobas who actually want to get big are doing much more than league. The other mobas are catering to their communities while league ignores theirs and treats theirs poorly. There are things WE the community wanted in league since 2009 that are slowly just being introduced in 2015 or not even at all. While other mobas introduced these concepts in their alphas or betas. League has just lost it's touch. Most of the current players in league consist of people who started in 2013-2015 area. I would say a good majority of veteran players have slowly been getting fed up with the treatment received over the years and or quit. Although I don't speak on behalf of everyone. Just from my own observations. I'm one of the veterans finding myself playing other mobas than league currently until changes happen.

I just got the same kind of ban Dunkey did for participating in a dialogue with other players on both my team and the enemy team because I said too many buzzwords.

This reporting system is a joke. I think once I get unbanned, I might start working on removing the chat feature from my installation of the game entirely, not because the community can't take a joke, but because Riot's BBB (Big Brother Bot) can't take it when I use dreaded Wrongspeak.

Or I might just uninstall and go to SMITE. The game isn't much fun, but at least the community is made up of actual human beings and not human tissue paper that explode when they hear a curse or slur.

As someone who has been playing lol since beta, I have followed dunkey since he began making videos. You ask how people can defend this guy, and the answer is because, for many of us, he seems like a friend who you have known for all of your league career. While I'm alright with him getting banned, I really dislike people who seem to feel that dunkey is this terrible person based off of just watching a few of his videos. Many of his videos have jokes that you really wont get unless you have been following him for a while. While he can be a dick, he is really no different from most players I play with. I just hate seeing people stereotype dunkey without actually having seen the majority of his videos. He is an amazingly funny guy. His comedy can seem very dumb but its clever once you see his running gags.
